"Who did scream that loud?" Klaus gave his daughter and Robbie an accusing look
"Robbie." June didn't miss a beat, "He saw a snake and shrieked like a little girl."
"Hey! I did not-" Robbie cut himself off when June gave him a look
He might not be scared of higher authority and he might be able to backtalk more powerful beings, but even he knew not to piss June Mikaelson off. Robbie was fairly sure her mental state was as fragile as glass right now, not that he'd eve tell her that as she'd try and kick his ass, and one good push might send her over the edge. It would be terrifying what the results would be if she went over the edge, it'd probably make one of Stefan Salvatore's ripper massacres look like children's play. She was, after all, Klaus Mikaelson's daughter.
"Good." Elijah seemed relieved, "We ran into a few problems, we were worried you might have faced the same difficulties."
"What kind of problems?" June's raised an eyebrow
"I do believe they are called Death Eaters." Rebekah said with disgust, her lip raising into a sneer
"Do they even cover vampires at Hogwarts?" Elijah asked curiously
"Yes." June nodded, "Just not...our kind. They believe garlic can burn us and that we can never go into the sunlight, even with a ring or spell. They severely play down our power in their stories and in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Why?"
"Because these people seemed to think a simple spell would kill us." Rebekah spat in disgust, "Do they truly believe us to be that weak?"
"Yep!" Robbie quipped with a smile
"Shut up, wizard boy, unless you want to be an appetizer." The female original glared
"Did you make any progress?" June interrupted before an argument could ensue
"No." Rebekah scowled, "Are you sure it's even in this forsaken forest, June?"
"Yes, I'm sure." The green eyes girl sighed
"Hmm...can't you use that summoning spell on it like you did the cloak?" Elijah asked with his eyebrow raised
"Sadly, no. Because I relinquished all rights when I abandoned the stone in the forest, intending for it to be lost forever, I am no longer it's master. Therefore, the anti-theft spells do not allow me to summon it. I cannot summon the Elder Wand because, even though I am still in control of it, there are anti-thief spells among other things on Dumbledore's grave."
"Magic sucks." Rebekah rolled her eyes
"It kinda does." Robbie agreed, nodding
"Shall we continue the search first thing tomorrow?" Klaus asked
At the nods of agreement, they all somehow made their way to a mildly tame part of the forest near by and set up a camp of sorts. They all laid out sleeping bags, ignored Rebekah's disgusted sounds, and passed around granola balls that were courtesy of June and Robbie as the Originals knew absolutely nothing about planning ahead. June had made the campfire their sleeping bags were laid around with a little help from magic. Eventually, as crickets relented to allowing everyone a peaceful sleep, they all dozed off. Some quicker than others.
The next day the sun shone brightly on the forest, birds were chirping, and it was a picture perfect morning. They wished. In reality there wasn't an animal sound in the whole damn place and the way the clouds were heavy and gray, blocking the sun, rain was expected. Let's not forget the fact that Rebekah had taken it upon herself to wake her niece and Robbie. Needless to say, she could be cranky in the mornings.
"Ok, we are in the same situation as yesterday. We all split up to cover as much forest as we can while trying to find the Resurrection Stone." Klaus spoke to his family and the wizard who tagged along
"How does he were a suit in the middle of the forest and still keep it perfectly clean and pressed?" Robbie asked, eyeing Elijah like he had two heads as they were about to split up
June shrugged, not a morning person much like Rebekah. She thought that if you could get up all damn happy and chipper, like in Disney movies, then you had to have no soul. So all she said was, "He's Elijah, do honestly expect anything else?"
Next thing June knew, her family was gone in three consecutive blurs, much like yesterday. June looked at Robbie, "We are searching together today. No exceptions."
Robbie sighed, "But-!"
"We might get things done faster this way!" June smiled
"If I know you, you're only making us search together to find certain things out." He raised a skeptical eyebrow
She feigned innocence, "I have no clue what you're talking about!"
Things ran smoothly for the next two hours and they actually made a lot of progress. June quickly scanned over the floor and went ahead while Robbie stayed behind and looked closely. The witch was currently speeding through the forest when something caught her eye. It was dark as night and seemed to shine despite having no sun shining on it. The Resurrection Stone. June's breath caught in her throat as she smiled and let out a choked laugh. She quickly dropped to her knees and plucked it out of the dirt, brushing the grime off of it and holding it in her palm.
"Robbie! Guess what?" She felt so relieved, like a weight off her chest
"We found it?" His voice was weary
"Yeah!" One step closer to bringing Kol back
She could hear his footsteps coming closer from where he was a little bit behind her. She felt dizzy, like it was all a dream, but of course nothing good can last.
"Crucio!" The spell was hissed angrily
June spun around too late, having heard the spell to late while she drowned in happiness. The spell hit her like a bolt of lightning, setting every nerve on fire with pain as she fell to the ground. Is this what her uncle felt like when he died? She felt the stone slip from her palm and, even in pain, she groped around the forest floor around her looking for it. The Death Eater powered up the spell, causing June to let out a painful gasp and fall to the floor.
"Well, if it isn't June Potter? Are those beasts that killed some fellow Death Eaters earlier with you? I'm sorry, I can't understand you. You have to open you mouth to talk, open it to scream." The woman taunted her as she watched June wither in pain in the ground, smiling in a sadistic way as she poured more power into the spell, "I guess even the Cruciatus Curse works on your kind. A nice handy tip as your little friends ripped my friends apart in two seconds. Good to have the upper hand here, yes?"
June snarled, her eyes flashing gold as her fangs burst out. For a moment she seemed to push back the pain and, instead of wasting time talking, she reared herself back the forwards and head butted the Death Eater. The older woman stumbled back as blood dripped from her temple, her entire forehead caved in from the force June used. She was dead before she hit the ground. Sucking in a shaky breath, June stood with shaky feet as pain coursed through her body. It was quickly receding though, thanks to the super healing.
"Gotta find it." She mumbled to herself, looking around for the stone
"Afraid we can't let you do that." June turned to see four more Death Eaters, "I'm afraid we need the stone."
She didn't have a chance to recover, didn't have a chance to stop her head from spinning or to stop every inch of her to stop hurting, before four wands were pointed at her prone figure on the ground and all the Death Eaters cast the same spell, "Crucio."
"No!" June gasped, it felt like she was frozen in time, there was nothing but the pain and herself. What she had felt just a little earlier was nothing compared to this. June squeezed her eyes shut, warm tears springing to life. She refused to let them fall.
"Alberta, get the stone while we retrain her."
June vaguely heard the order through the fog in her mind and knew she had to stop them. Her body was screaming as she attempted to lunge forward towards the sound of the voice. All of a sudden, a scream rang out loud and clear before suddenly ending. June managed to open her eyes and saw a blonde man dropping a body to the ground as blood flew around him. The stone, she needed the stone. She forced herself to focus just as another man, this one smaller and had light brunette hair, gripped one of the Death Eater's necks and twisted. There was a audible crack before the body fell as well.
Vision still blurry, June reached around and dug into the leaves as the pain began to slowly ebb away. All of a sudden, she felt it between her fingers, through all the leaves and dirt that stuck to her hand, and nearly cried with relief. She shakily stood and clutched the stone like a trophy. All of a sudden there were two hands on her shoulders, warm and strong, that held her up with ease. Blinking again, details came to her.
Light brunette hair, ocean blue eyes, lightly tanned skin. Robbie.
"You okay?" He whispered
"I'm fine." She mumbled, swallowing as the pain finally numbed to a dull ache
"You sure?" Her eyes wore worried
"Yeah." She smiled weakly
"Okay." He smiled back softly
"Little Witch?"
Robbie let go of her shoulders and June turned to her father, scared to see his reaction. She had been weak, it was true, not even deserving of her family name. What she saw, however, begged to differ with the ideas in her mind. His eyes were shining with, she must be hallucinating, pride. He had a small smirk.
"Good head butt, I do believe her entire skull shattered." He stiffly motioned to the first Death Eater that had attacked her
It was worse than what June had originally though. The entire front of her face, not just her forehead, had caved in. The rest of her head seemed misshapen, as though everything had fallen out of place, and blood dripped everywhere. June would never openly admit it, but she felt kind of proud. Still, she should have been strong enough to throw off the curse.
"I'm gonna go...wash my hands...you know I could get an infection..." June noticed for the first time that Robbie's hands were indeed covered in blood, as were her shoulders from where he had held her up. Looking at the four new dead bodies, she wondered which ones he had killed. Her focus returned to her father as Robbie quickly made his exit, not wanting to invade on a personal father-daughter talk.
"Are you...disappointed?" June asked, she might have seen pride but she had to be sure
Her fathers brows raised in surprise, "Little Witch, why would I be disappointed?"
"Because I wasn't strong enough. I couldn't break the curse, I couldn't save myself."
He smirked, "If we had been any later, I do believe you would've broken said curse yourself and demolished all of them."
His daughter pursed her lips, "Still."
"Please do keep in mind, daughter, that I am over one thousand years old. You are eighteen and have just recently been turned, besides they snuck up on you. If I can assume things, that is a very powerful curse for wand-users. A torturing curse." His voice was almost angry, "The first one attacked you by surprise and then four more attacked before you could steady yourself, not to mention they were all using the curse at the same time. I am fairly sure, love, that most would be nothing more than a blubbering pile of goo after that. Understand?"
June nodded with a slight smile.
"Good, because I will not accept any more pity parties." He gave June a stern look
"Where's Elijah and Rebekah?" She looked around, finally noticing their absence
"They went after the others. There was a whole hoard of those disgusting beings." Klaus sneered
A unsettling feeling settle in her stomach, "So many? Did they happen to mention what they were doing?"
"Apparently they have the same idea we do. They said something about using the Deathly Hallows to bring the Dark Lord back. I'm guessing that's that Voldemort character you spoke about?"
Question of the Chapter: What do you think about June and Robbie and Klaus in this chapter?
Whew, that was a long chapter! I hope you like it, June will get more badass. I promise. I just don't want it to be like SNAP! She's stronger than the thousand year old original vampire and her crazy powerful Hybrid father, you know? Still, I thought she did pretty good under the circumstances :)
I'm going on vacation VERY soon, I'll try to update before then but it's really crazy with packing and all that stuff. Plus, I'm not sure if the place I'm going has Wi-Fi or not (It's kind of a wilderness area), but I promise I'll try my best!
