Chapter Twenty-three: Dying
DICLAIMER: I do not own Harry Potter or Vampire Diaries!
SHOUTOUTS/NOTES: I feel like Robbie has a bit of character development in this chapter. Read the AU at the bottom for a challenge and my excuses!
Walking quickly, Robbie rushed through the woods as the moon hung high in the sky. Weaving in and out of the trees, he eventually came to a small grove in the wilderness, cleanly cut with two gravestones in the middle. A single bouquet, withered and dried up, from four months ago lay in between the two graves. Getting on his knees, Robbie picked up the old flowers and placed the new ones he had brought with him in their spot. Gently, he raised a hand and brushed off the little dirt that had collected on the two graves.
The names read Summer Harrison and Daniel Harrison.
"Mom, dad. It's been a while. Sorry I haven't come to visit, I've been a bit busy. Met this great girl, she's real nice, you'd be sure to like her mom. I helped her out, her uncle had died and she was going through what I had when I lost you guys. It was quite a bit of fun, her uncle's back now. I-I don't really know what made me help her. She's a good friend I guess, but I think in the back of my mind I thought...I thought I could bring you guys back too. It was selfish and stupid, I know, to help her out just so I could gain something and both of you have been d-dead for years..."
Robbie let the tears fall freely, there were only a few and he was nowhere near close to sobbing, as the restlessness bubbled under his skin. He was all cried out, had been for a few years now. Doesn't mean he wasn't still upset though.
June hummed to herself and stacked the books on her desk for the tenth time. She was restless what the full moon being so near, in fact it was tomorrow. Even though she was a Hybrid she still felt the surge of strength on those days just like the normal werewolves did. Only difference was, she didn't change.
Huffing, June swatted the stack over and prepared to restart when there was a crash from downstairs. Head snapping up, June rushed from her chair and sped downstairs. When she arrived down there, the green eyed girl saw that Elijah had arrived seconds earlier. Quickly surveying the scene, June gasped.
"Uncle Kol!"
Rushing to his side, June shook his shoulder. As his pained eyes landed on her she asked him urgently, "Where does it hurt?"
Groaning in pain, he slowly brought his hand up to his chest as his eyes closed and his body tensed. With Elijah looking over her shoulder, June quickly ripped her uncles shirt open and her eyes widened at what she saw. Around the area where his heart is was slowly turning grey, veins curling around the smoke colored flesh. Looking at her other uncle with urgent eyes, she demanded, "What the hell is this?"
Elijah frowned, "It would seem that bringing him back requires more than just the hollows."
"What more do we need?" June snapped
"June..." He seemed uncertain
"Elijah!" She snarled, "Spit it out! He's dying, for Merlin's sake!"
"With a life brought back, a life must be taken." He spoke quietly
Sobering from her anger, June narrowed her eyes critically, "A sacrifice, you mean."
"Yes."
"Well, then let's go find someone quick before Uncle Kol turns back into a pile of ash!" June stood, ready to grab the first person she saw in her urgency
"Juniper!" His sharp tone and use of her full name stopped her along with the rough grip on her arm, "Think, please! You cannot grab a random innocent of the streets and kill them for your own gain!"
Bristling, June scowled, "He's dying!"
"Do want to become what you hate? Think of that Voldemort fellow, do you want to become him?"
Flashes of Cedric Diggory, her first crush, and the green light in that gloomy graveyard played out in front of her eyes again. Remembering seeing his skin pale and his shining eyes go dull quickly subdued her. She turned back facing the door, determination steeling her, as she spoke coolly, "Family above all, Elijah. I will not let him die again."
In that moment Elijah was sure that Niklaus was somehow speaking through his daughter. But no, he couldn't have been. That cold look in her green eyes and that determination from the war that set her face in an almost wicked manner belonged to her and her alone. That's what Rebekah and Klaus walked in to, June glaring at her uncle who wasn't withering on the floor in pain and Elijah having a staring contest with his niece. When she heard her father and her aunt walk in, her eyes snapped to them sharply.
"It wasn't enough, there has to be a sacrifice, quickly too."
"Who?" Rebekah asked immediately
Lips curling in a cruel manner, Klaus spoke up with ice in his voice, "I think we need to find a certain little doppelgänger."
Robbie stood, taking a deep breath as the moon illuminated the forest. He quickly spun around when he heard a small 'Snap!'. His eyes easily cut through the dark to see a man with dark hair and piercing blue eyes.
"Damon Salvatore." He stated shortly
"What are doing out here so late?" The vampire questioned, slowly moving forwards as Robbie took a few steps backwards
"You killed Kol Mikaelson." He felt anger bubble in her veins, "You hurt June. It's all your fault!"
Stupid, so stupid, Robbie's rational side was smacking himself. However, the small sliver of rationality he had left was thrown out the window when Damon smiled. Robbie prided himself on being a decent person, but this guy had caused June all that pain and all those tears. He had made her go through hell and back. She even told him about the time Damon, his brother, and their human plaything had cornered June in an attempt to kill her.
After all that, the bastard in front of him had the audacity to smile.
"So you're friends wit Baby Klaus and the Mikaelsons?" Damon was still grinning smugly, happy with the pain he'd caused
The grew in Robbie's veins, the need the swipe that smirk of Damon's face getting larger and larger. Even as his legs propelled him forward on instinct her knew it was a bad idea, but all he could remember was June's cries when she thought the spell hadn't worked. Shoving Damon into a tree, Robbie's grip tightened around the older man's neck, snarling as his eyes flashed. All of a sudden, Damon came up and grabbed him by the arm, swinging him down. Robbie hit the ground with a thump and everything went dark.
Question of the Chapter: So...what should happen next?
A few months later...hehe! Sorry! I let Marching Band consume my life! I know it's short, but our band director has finally eased up with all the practices know that we have our drill down, so I should have time to write more.
ALSO! I was wondering if any of you would like to accept a challenge? If so read on.
I love hearing the AU's you guys have in your reviews so I was wondering. If any of you wanted to do a one-shot featuring June or any of the other characters in this story, I'd love to read them! My birthday is in five days, so this would be a lovely present!
I want to see what you guys think certain times in her life at Hogwarts were like. Maybe her crush on Cedric Diggory, her sorting and what the hat said to her and how it differed from what it told Harry, how she met Robbie her first year but they grew apart as she became friend with Ron and Hermione, maybe an AU of how you thought a scene in the story should have gone. Or maybe you could have the male Mikaelsons giving Robbie the 'hurt June, we hurt you' talk.
Anything you could think of!
Keep in mind you don't have to, but like I said, it'd be a great birthday present! If you do, please PM me or leave me a review saying you did! I just love all the ideas you guys come up with and would love to read more of them!
