Chapter Twenty-five: Dead

DICLAIMER: I do not own Harry Potter or Vampire Diaries!

SHOUTOUTS/NOTES: This is a long one!

The Originals burst in through the door with and unconscious Elena in tow. Elijah had moved Kol to the couch where he now laid, and with a grimace they all saw just how bad the situation was. In the little time they were gone, the gray veins had turned the entirety of the center of his chest a stony color. The youngest Mikaelson brother was obviously struggling to breathe as he was sucking in hair in short, painful sounding gasps. Rebekah put her hand over her mouth and rushed to his side, kneeling down and grabbing his hand.

"It's okay, brother. We got the doppelgänger, you'll be fine. I promise, you'll be fine. Just hold on...we're not losing you again." The blonde woman whispered, willing her voice not to shake

"How do we do this?" Klaus turned to his daughter, "The sacrifice?"

"I...think I have and idea of what I need to do. I'm not as sure on this one though, this isn't wand magic and I..." June sighed, her eyes sweeping over all the people in the room who were depending on her. If she couldn't do this, her uncle would die.

"I still do not think this is right." Elijah spoke up, lips pressed in a stern line

"What would you rather we do, noble Elijah?" Klaus sneered, "Let our brother die to save the girl that killed him?"

"This is not the way to do it-!"

"What other way is there?" Klaus nearly yelled, "Please, by all means, if you have a better idea let us know! If you don't, then just be quiet!"

Elijah dropped his eyes, "I have no better ideas, but I dislike witnessing the murder of a teenage girl-"

"A teenage girl who has caused as much pain and suffering as this whole town put together!" Rebekah snapped, watery eyes narrowed

"Who do you choose? Your family, or her?" Klaus stared him in the eye

"I choose my family, I will always choose my family. Do what you must do." Elijah nodded in acceptance

"Took you long enough..." June muttered, wand already in hand

Honestly, she had no clue what to do and it terrified her. Maybe she could call Kreacher, have him bring in some of Sirius's old books. No, that would take far too long. Should she swallow her pride and contact Hermione? Like hell that stuck up witch would tell June what she needed to know. All ideas the green eyed girl conjured up were quickly shot down for one reason or another.

"STOP! STOP!" A shrill voice echoed through out the house

All of a sudden a blonde blur shot into the room. It was the one and only Caroline Forbes who had her hand wrapped tightly around Bonnie Bennett's arm. It looked as though Caroline had used her super speed to run herself and the witch all the way to the Mikaelson residence. June bared her teeth when she saw them, remembering how Bonnie had helped kill her uncle. Caroline quickly shoved Bonnie behind her, a serious expression on her face.

"We came to-" The young, blonde vampire was cut off by Klaus

"To get sweet little Elena back. Caroline, I love you but you aren't getting her back. I don't care if you hate me forever I will save my brother and you will not stop me!"

Caroline jerked back in surprise. For once, Klaus Mikaelson cared about something more than her? It might be a little vain, but she like thinking she was the most important thing in his world. However, she looked around at the young girl who was his daughter. His dying sibling on the couch and the other two who were there behind Klaus, tense and ready to strike. She realized the that, no, she was not the most important thing in his life. That was his family. However, maybe she could try to become a part of that.

"No." She spoke firmly, "We're here to help. I haven't changed what I think. Elena mad her decisions, she has to deal with the consequences."

"Yes!" Bonnie nodded, stepping out from behind Caroline without fear, "June, I know you don't think very much of me right now-"

"That's an understatement." The green eyed girl was rather cold and obviously still on her guard

Swallowing, the brown eyed witch continued, "I want to help. I regret what I did to Kol, and I want to help."

"How would you help?" Klaus narrowed his eyes at the witch

"I know the spell you're looking for."

Damon dragged the boy behind him, not really caring how many scrapes or bruises he might get. As he got closer to the place where he and his brother stayed, he narrowed his eyes when he saw the door was kicked open. Picking up the pace a bit he soon came to the door and stopped in his tracks. Quickly dropping the boy he was dragging behind him, he rushed past his unconscious brother to look in the kitchen. Elena was gone. Quickly making his way back to the foyer, he crouched down and lightly smacked his brother a few times.

"Steffy, wake up! Stefan! Elena's gone, wake the hell up!"

Slowly, his younger brother turned his head to the side and opened his eyes slowly. Cringing, he sat up and rubbed his neck.

"That girl really can fight..."

"Stefan!" Damon snapped, "Elena is gone. Who did this? Where is she?"

"The Originals." Stefan said gravely as his brother helped him up, "They came and the newest one, that June girl, took me down. Elena was in the kitchen with Bonnie and Caroline-! Bonnie and Caroline! They must have been taken too!"

"I really don't care about Blondie and Witchy! I just want to get Elena to safety...and I know just how to do that."

"How?" Stefan's eyes wandered to the limp body on the floor, "Has it got anything to do with him?"

"Yeah. I was going through the woods to get to town quicker and ran across him. He recognized me and started babbling about Baby Klaus. If I weren't mistaken I'd say he has a crush." Damon smirked and jerked the body up of the floor

"C'mon, lets go." Stefan sped out the door with Damon on his heels

"Hoc est sacrificium propter vitam alienam." Bonnie spoke the spell again slowly, so June could listen to the words

"Okay, I've got it." The Latin words didn't roll off June's tongue like they did Bonnie's, but it was the spell for sure

Rebekah rolled her eyes from beside the couch, "If you wanted to help so much, Bennett, why don't you just perform the spell?"

Bonnie sighed, "My power relies on my ancestors. It would take months to harness enough power to bring a soul completely back from the Other Side and send another one in return. Obviously, your brother doesn't have that much time, so June has to do the spell. She has natural magic, the kind that's inside her, and doesn't rely on her ancestor for her power."

"Great, history lesson over, now can we get on with this?" Klaus snapped, standing beside the now awake Elena

The Gilbert girl had awoken ten minutes ago when Bonnie had just begun teaching June the spell. She had screamed so loud Rebekah had threatened to rip her tongue out if she did it again. Elena had kept her mouth shut after that, but she kept sending Bonnie and Caroline these pleading looks, asking them to rescue her. Needless to say Caroline was sidetracked by making sure Klaus didn't get too impatient while waiting for June to learn the spell, and Bonnie was teaching. So Elena mostly sulked.

"Yes. Let's get this over with." June nodded and walked towards Elena

Bonnie took a deep breath to force down the bile that was rising in her throat. She was helping kill her best friend. Shaking her head slightly, she reminded herself that Elena brought this on herself. She had caused too much suffering and broken too many promises in her lifetime. Caroline, on the other hand, only felt a slight sadness. In her mind, this was karma coming back to bite Elena in the ass.

June walked over to Elena and looked her in the eyes. If she was going to kill a person, she wasn't going to be a coward about it. Her gut twisted as she extended her hand, shaking slightly as she began the spell. Whether or not Elena deserved it, June was still about to kill a defenseless person. What would her mom and James say? What would Sirius and Remus and Tonks think? That didn't matter right now. What mattered was saving her uncle.

Taking a deep breath, she recited the words she had committed to memory in the last half hour. Time seemed to slow down as Elena's eyes widened in terror. The doppelgängers body went rigid at the same time Kol let out a blood curdling scream. Everything was silent as Elena's body fell sideway, eyes dead and empty. Rebekah quickly looked back at Kol and saw the gray on his chest was receding back until it had completely disappeared.

"It worked-!" Rebekah's relieved cry was interrupted by a horrified scream

"ELENA!"

Stefan looked at the woman he loved, laying cold and dead on the floor, and rushed over to her. Slowly, he picked up her head and felt for a pulse.

"No, no, no, no, no...C'mon Elena, please!" Stefan gripped her face, burying his head in her curtain of hair

June frowned, her brow creasing as a weight settled on her chest. This was supposed to feel good, wasn't it? She had gotten revenge. She had killed the doppelgänger who had hurt her family so terribly. She had also killed someone. She had caused the same pain she felt when Kol died. This wasn't something that was a happy occasion like she thought it would be, it was saddening as she watched the man break down in front of her, clutching at a lifeless body.

"I'll kill you!" Heads snapped to see Damon snarling at them with veins under his eyes, Robbie's arm locked in his death grip

All thoughts flew out of June's head when she saw him. Robbie, sweet Robbie who had helped her save her uncle, hung limp in the vampires clutch. His face was bloody, and he looked to be developing a black eye. What had happened? He was supposed to be safe! He was supposed to be at his house, not being dragged around by Damon like a rag doll!

"Let go of him!" June took a step forward, eyes wide

"Oh, have I got you're little boyfriend? Maybe I should kill him like you did Elena, maybe I should rip him limb from limb right here and now!" He wasn't in his right mind, anyone in the room could see that. His eyes shined with what June could only guess was insanity, the same kind she sometimes saw in Malfoy's eyes towards the end of the war. Damon was hostile right now, a bomb getting ready to go off. Robbie happened to be right in the middle of it.

"Robbie! Wake up!" June knew it was a long shot, he was out cold, but she could try. If he was awake, maybe he could defend himself, give himself a fighting chance.

Damon laughed cruelly and threw him down on the ground, making a few people wince at the loud crack Robbie's head made when it hit the tile. June growled, her eyes flashing gold as she watched the now partially insane vampire closely. She saw both Caroline and Klaus inch towards Damon, obviously ready to fight if need be. However, if there was to be a fight, both Robbie and Kol could get hurt. He uncle had yet to wake up, and he wasn't going to be put at risk, just the same as Robbie wasn't.

Before June could say anything, someone hit a fast forward button. All of a sudden Klaus sprang forward at the same time Damon picked Robbie up by his neck. Rushing forward behind her father, June ripped off a chair leg and went at Damon with intent to kill. Rebekah stayed by Kol's side as Elijah grabbed Stefan and held his arm behind his back so he couldn't help his brother.

June swung the makeshift stake forward, aiming for Damon's heart, and it hit alright. Just not in Damon's chest. June's eyes widened as she saw a different pair of blue eyes staring back at her, wide open and filled with pain. Damon had shoved the now conscious Robbie in front of him to act like a shield. The eldest Salvatore brother quickly dropped the wizard he had shielded himself with and swung at Klaus. The Original Hybrid caught his arm easily and twisted it, making Damon fall to his knees. Hand shooting forward, Klaus gripped Damon's heart and yanked it out of his chest with a sneer. The Salvatore hit the floor, dead.

"Robbie...can you hear me?" June whispered, holding his head in her lap

"June...what...I...J-June..." He struggled to speak, speech coming out gargled and pained

June shook her head, "I-I wasn't aiming for you! Damon, he-he-"

"I know. It's fine." Robbie breathed heavily, "I'm fine."

"You're not though! I stabbed you in the chest...you, you could...you could die."

Everyone stood around and watched as June spoke to the dying man on the floor. How the tables have turned, just minutes ago wasn't Stefan in her position, pleading for their love to stay with them and not leave? Karma really was a bitch.

"Little Witch..." Klaus stepped forward, leaving Caroline's side.

June's head snapped up, "I can change him, right? I'm still a vampire, so I can change him!"

"Yes, normally that would work." Klaus spoke slowly, "But I'm afraid-"

His words fell on deaf ears, though, as June bit into her wrist and fed Robbie her blood. Barely conscious at this point, it ran down his throat without him knowing what was even happening.

"June!" Klaus yelled, drawing his daughter's attention, "It won't help."

"What? Yes it will! You said if a person consumes vampire blood before they die-"

"He's a werewolf." Klaus looked down quietly, "He can't be changed. I'm sorry."

"How?" Her eyes were wide, "How do you know he is?"

"I've seen him fight. He's a werewolf like you partially are, so his system will reject the blood and it won't help. I've been working on being able to change werewolves into Hybrids, but I can't yet, Little Witch."

Right there in front of everyone, she fell apart again. June had promised herself it wouldn't happen, but all of it crashed down. Kol nearly died, she killed a defenseless person, she killed Robbie. Silently, Rebekah stood and walked over to her niece and wrapped her arms around the trembling girl. They stayed there for a while as Caroline gripped Klaus' arm and Elijah stood there solemnly. Bonnie felt her heart ache for June, she really did feel bad for all this. It was her fault, if she hadn't helped the Salvatores and Elena, Kol wouldn't have died in the first place.

To her credit, though, June didn't cry until she heard the last beat of Robbie's heart.

Question of the Chapter: Umm...so what should June do next chapter? What should happen to Stefan?
