Chapter Twenty-six: Grief

DICLAIMER: I do not own Harry Potter or Vampire Diaries!

SHOUTOUTS/NOTES: Nearly 3000 words...wowza...ANYWAYS! Big shoutout to I am Katie Daughter of Demeter! I sampled her Oneshots of Robbie's POV of June and Robbie's Hogwarts past in the first two flashback! Enjoy the chapter!

Caroline gripped Klaus' arm tightly as they all heard the last beat of Robbie's heart. The Hybrid looked down and away from his daughter to meet her blue eyes. Smiling bitterly, he removed his arm from her grasp and walked forward to where his sister was hugging June. Carefully, Klaus brushed Rebekah off and helped his only child up.

"Come now, Little Witch, don't fall apart on me." He whispered to her, though everyone could hear

June looked at him through watery green eyes and gave a stiff nod. Taking a deep, shuddering breath, she pursed her lips tightly and attempted to stem the flow of tears that fell down her face, "I'm okay."

"Sure you are." Klaus nearly shook his head, she was as stubborn as him sometimes.

Suddenly, they all heard shuffling from the couch.

"Kol!" Rebekah cried, rushing to her brother, "You idiot!"

Setting up, the youngest Mikaelson brother rubbed his head and snorted, "What the hell did I do now?"

"You almost died again, you-you idiotic idiot!" Rebekah snapped

"Getting very creative with the insults, sister." The blonde Mikaelson glared as the brunette rolled his eyes

"Uncle Kol!" June forced a smile, "You're better!"

Kol frowned as he noticed the red eyes and tear tracks, "Yes, but you're not! What happen-"

He cut himself off when he saw the dead bodies, well one dead body in particular. Kol remembered the boy from their little adventure from England. He had seemed good natured and seemed to care for June enough to be dragged to another continent to help her. Now, apparently he had died. Died helping save Kol himself, apparently. Now, Kol couldn't exactly say he was sad. He didn't even know the boy, but June did. He felt somber, he supposed, as he recognized that a person who had only tried to help him and his family was dead.

Pressing his lips together, Kol opened his arms for his niece. Biting her lips harshly, June fled to the man she considered a best friend and wrapped him in a tight hug. Rebekah placed her hand on June's back rubbing soft circles to calm her niece down. Klaus frowned and stood beside his daughter, not saying or doing anything, but just being there for her. Elijah jerked Stefan up off the ground and forced him to stand, but the younger vampire did not respond. Bonnie and Caroline flinched when they saw how broken the younger Salvatore was, he had lost his love and his brother within half and hour.

"What should I do with him?" Elijah looked at his family with sad eyes

Klaus sneered at Stefan, "Throw him out on the streets. Living without his precious doppelgänger will be more torture for him than anything we could hand out."

Nodding, the Original dragged Stefan out of the house with little to no problems. Slowly, June broke away from Kol and brushed Rebekah's hand off her shoulder. If anyone else had looked into her eyes, despite their puffiness and redness from crying, the only thing they would have seen was a steel barrier. However, when she looked at her father, Klaus understood what she wanted perfectly. He knew because he would want the same thing if Caroline were to ever die, he wouldn't want anyone to watch him almost fall apart.

"Shall we all get a little air, especially you brother." Klaus clapped Kol on the shoulder, "Almost dying can't be easy."

Without another word, he ushered everyone out and June was left alone with the three dead bodies. She slowly made her way over to Robbie's body, kneeling down beside him. It all came back in flashes that she had forgotten, their time at Hogwarts together had been scarce as she had always been with Ron and Hermione, but they were still in the same house. She remembered every moment, every detail, all engrained in her immortal memory.

June sat on the boat with Ron and Hermione, eagerly awaiting her first view of the Hogwarts. She was nervous though, what if there was a mistake? What if she wasn't who everyone thought she was? What if she was just normal? All the questions swirled in the eleven year olds mind, she almost didn't notice the boy walk up to her boat. She watched, curious, as he sat next to her in the tiny boat. Brunette hair, blue eyes that reflected the light from the lanterns.

"June Potter." She quietly whispered to him, wondering if he was going to gush about how famous she was like everyone else. Mentally preparing herself for the surely coming onslaught of compliments, she saw him open his mouth.

"Robbie Harrison." He didn't speak another word in that strange American accent, and June gave him a small smile

"I hope we get put in the same house." His eyes shined as he nodded back at her

He had been put in Gryffindor as June had originally hoped, but he was soon long forgotten. The last she had really communicated with him was when he had helped save Hermione from that troll. However, that was last year, and the witch was having a hard time thinking about anything other than her excitement for her second year at Hogwarts. Though, this year, she wanted to get to the Common Room early so she could chose her own bed. Last year she had been the last one there and had gotten shoved in the corner by the loo. Apparently being the 'savior of the wizarding world' wasn't worth shit if it meant the other girls didn't get the bed by the toilets.

As she stood up to head to the common room, she didn't notice the boy flee the Great Hall as she said her goodbyes to Ron and Hermione.

Quietly speaking the password she had gotten off of the prefects to the Fat Lady, she entered and was shocked by what she saw. A boy with his head buried in between his legs sat on the wall parallel from her. Robbie, her mind supplied the name, his name is Robbie Harrison. Her eyes widened, Harrison as his last name and the name of that American couple that had died. It had been all over the daily prophet, the witch and wizard had visited the UK for awhile and had been murdered in cold blood during their stay. So that would make this boy and orphan now, just like her.

"R-Robbie?" She silently cursed herself for stuttering

"G-go a-away!" His voice was muffled by his hands, but she could tell he was crying

She sat beside him quietly, "My parents died when I was one."

"W-what?" He peeked at her from behind his hands

"Voldemort killed them when I was a baby, supposedly he was after them for some reason. Robbie...do you know who I am?" She brushed her long bangs behind her ear, revealing the scar that marred her pale skin.

"W-what's so special about some d-dumb scar?" He hiccupped a little, "I've got plenty of scars I don't g-go around showing people."

She watched as he rested his head on his knees. Opening her mouth to tell him all about her being the 'chosen one' and the like, she found herself unable to. Instead, she chose to let out a breath. Digging in her pocket, she pulled out the chain with one of Hedwig's snowy white feathers attached. She grabbed his hand and gently uncurled it, placing the necklace in his palm.

"It's one of Hedwig's feathers, I keep it for good luck whenever I have a test or I'm playing Quidditch." She smiled at him gently, "But I want you to have it."

She watched as his eyes teared up again and his hand closed, gripping her good luck charm tightly. Just then, Hermione and Ron entered in a blur of shouting. June knew she had to go break it up before they got in another argument, so she silently stood and rushed off. Looking back, she saw Robbie had buried his head in his knees again and felt a tug at her heart.

Her life passed in a whirlwind, and the next thing she knew it was her fourth year and she was a champion in the Triwizard Tournament. Being a champion, that meant she had to have a date to the Yule Ball, and she knew just who she was going to ask. However, he would be a popular choice, so she knew she had to act fast. Spotting him in the hallway, talking to Cho Chang no less, she rushed up and tapped him on the shoulder. Cedric Diggory turned his head and smiled slightly at her in a nervous manner.

"Hey, if this is about those 'Potter Stinks' badges, I want you to know I had nothing to do with them."

"It's fine, really!" She smiled winningly, "But can I talk to you?"

"Uh, sure." He looked back at Cho and shrugged as June dragged him off. When she knew they were out of the Ravenclaw girls sight, June took a deep breath and turned to face and long time crush.

"Will you go to the Yule Ball with me?" She bit her lip and restrained herself from crossing her fingers

"Ah." Cedric looked sideway, "I was going to ask Cho. I'm really sorry, Potter."

Potter. They weren't even on a first name basis. Dropping her head she uttered a quick 'no that's fine, I shouldn't have asked' and ran off. Weeks passed and she got many offers from meek first and second years, she turned them all down as gently as possible. Last minute, having no choice and being partially forced by McGonagall, she asked Dean Thomas to go. Needless to say, he had said yes and she was out of hot water with the Deputy Headmistress.

After the opening dance when the champions and their partners danced, however, Dean soon found June to be uncooperative. He had wanted to flaunt her off, as any teenaged boy would, but she refused to leave her spot by the punch bowl. Soon he found some Beauxbatons girl to dance with and show off to his friends. When she felt a light tap on her arm she turned, expecting to find Ron or Hermione, but instead came face to face with a familiar face. Robbie Harrison.

"Hey, June." He smiled

"Hey." She breathed out, a little shocked by the sudden arrival

He looked around confused, "Where's Dean?"

Narrowing her eyes, June huffed, "I refused the a Barbie doll for the night, so he found someone who was willing."

"Well, I might not agree, but you can see why he would want to show you off. You look amazing." He grinned sideways

Even though she rolled her eyes, she couldn't help but be flattered. She had done the best she could finding a dress in Hogsmeade, and Hermione said it fit her perfectly. It was a simple, modest dress that swept down to the floor in a silky manner. The sleeves flowed down a little past the elbows and the chest didn't show to much, as well. However, the dress was a bit too form fitting for June's tastes. However, the light mint green color apparently set off her eyes. She had the Patil sisters do her hair before the ball. Her dark brunette hair was pulled up into a slightly messy half up half down do. They had somehow braided pearls in, and June was sure they'd be a pain in the ass to get out.

"You know...Since your partner isn't around..." Robbie's voice drew her back to reality, "Can I have this dance?"

June considered it, she had denied every other person to ask, but she couldn't force herself to tell Robbie no. Taking his hand, he twirled her out onto the dance floor.

The years after that went so fast, what with Voldemort making his return and all. She had hardly spoken to him after that, only nodding at him in hallways and saying the occasional friendly hello when addressed.

How she regretted that now.

Placing her hand on his chest, she expected him to be cold, as a dead body should be, but he wasn't. June guessed it would take awhile for that to happen. Biting her lip as more tears flooded her eyes, she blinked the back and refused to let them flow. Right as she was about to draw her hand back, she felt something. A necklace. Reach up to his neck, she found the chain and slowly pulled it out. Eyes widening in shock, she looked at the snow white feather in her palm. All those years, he had kept it. Looking it over more closely, she saw Robbie's blood had stained a small part on the left side. It was fresh, so that meant it must have happened when she...killed him.

Placing the delicate necklace back on his chest, she leaned forward and kissed him on the lips one more time.

"I'm not going to say I loved you when I first met you, because I didn't. All throughout Hogwarts you were barely an acquaintance, and now you have the nerve to just come barreling into my life!" She closed her eyes in pain and anger, "Damn you! I hate you, Robert Harrison! I hate you for making me love you, I hate you for that stupid smile, I hate you for being so selfless, I hate you for d-d-dying...D-dammit..."

Scrubbing at her eyes, she shuddered as anger coursed through her veins. She wanted to break something. She wanted to hold something in her palms and crush it. She wanted to lay waste to the whole town, even if she knew it wouldn't help. She wanted everyone else to feel her pain and she wanted to drown in misery. June knew she still had everyone else, her family and, maybe in time, Bonnie and Caroline. June didn't care, though, she was selfish and she wanted it all.

Wiping her face off one last time she stood, trembling, and turned away. The beat of her heart echoed in her ears, ever so loud, as she began to walk away.

Stopping in her tracks, she realized. That wasn't just her heartbeat. Looking around, she first suspected Elena but the girl was still dead. Next, she looked at Damon, hopes rising by the second. He was still long gone. Heart beat accelerating she didn't turn around as she heard shallow breathing. She didn't turn around until she heard a scratchy voice and wanted to cry in happiness.

"You know, even if I'm not a vampire, steaks hurt like nobodies business..."

Whipping around, she lunged at the now breathing Hybrid. Robbie blinked in shock as he held June in his arms.

"W-what happened, June?" He asked, confused

"You died, you idiot!" She snarled, pulling back, "You're a werewolf, for Merlin's sake, and you didn't even bother to tell me! I couldn't change because of that reason! Bloody hell, Robbie, you should be dead!"

He winced as she pounded her fist in his shoulder, "I will be if you keep hitting me like that!"

Trembling, she looked him in the eyes. He wasn't dead. He was alive. Hugging him tightly again, she buried her face in his shoulder.

"June..." His voice seemed worried, "M-my throat burns...really bad..."

She pulled back with wide eyes, "What do you need...?"

Her voice trailed of when she saw his eyes flash gold for a second and knew the change had worked.

Robbie was a Hybrid.

Question of the Chapter: So, how badass should Robbie be?

I enjoy cliffhangers too much! Sorry for the last chapter, to good to resist! I hope this EXTRA LONG chapter made up for it though!
