Chapter 4

Kevin's p.o.v

"How's your foot?" I asked. Ben looked up from his homework.

"Much better. Thank you for asking." He answered. It had been four days and nothing had happened. Ben hadn't been attacked and nothing had happened between him and me. I had attempted to kiss him the day before, but he had only blushed and said that he had something to do. Well, I thought it was cute that he was so shy, but I wanted to touch him. I had thought I would be able to kiss him once we got together, but it seemed that I had to warm him up first. I had some sort of plan.

"Ben, do you own a suit?" I asked him. He gave me a surprised look.

"Yes, I do. Grandpa Max bought me one. Why do you ask?" I gave him a secretive smile.

"You will need one tonight." I said and left the room to prepare what I had in mind.

"Kevin, I have three questions for you. Where are we going? Why did I need to dress up and when did you get a suit?" Ben asked me. I laughed.

"Take it easy Ben. All your questions will be answered shortly." I said as I parked the car outside of the exclusive restaurant.

"A restaurant?" Ben said. I could hear that it wasn't what he had expected.

"Yes, a restaurant. I thought it could be nice. I'm of course paying for everything." I said. Ben stared at me. I laughed and stepped out of the car. He followed my example. We walked into the restaurant and a woman showed us to our table. Ben looked around.

"How are you going to afford this? It looks really expensive." He said and finally looked at me. I smiled.

"I have more money than you think and I wanted to spend some time with you." I answered him and brushed my fingers against the back of his hand. He blushed and quickly looked down on the table. I smirked. His reaction was so cute. I laughed. A man came to take our order.

Our food arrived and we began to eat. I looked at Ben.

"How's the food? Is it good?" I asked him. He nodded. He still had a slight blush painted across his cheeks. It made me want to tease him, but I didn't. It would just make him even more embarrassed. It was hard not to.

"Resist the urge Kevin." I mumbled to myself. Ben looked at me.

"What? Did you say something?" He asked. I smiled towards him.

"No, I was just thinking that the blush on your cheeks is very cute." I said. I hadn't been able to resist after all. Ben's blush darkened and he dropped his fork. It landed on his plate. He quickly picked it up again and tried to avoid my gaze.

"Relax Ben. I'm just teasing you a little." I said and smiled towards him. He didn't say anything. He just continued eating his food. I could see people staring at us and gave them all a glare. They didn't have to look if they didn't like it.

"Where are we going now?" Ben asked. He seemed nervous. I laughed.

"Don't worry. I'm sure you'll like it. It's a place with wonderful view." It was actually a place where I thought I could make Ben relax enough to finally let me do what I wanted. We stopped and I stepped out of the car. Ben did too. I grabbed his hand and dragged him with me to a bench.

"Look." I said and pointed away from the bench. Ben raised an eyebrow and looked at what I was pointing at.

"Wow. You were right. It is a nice view, but I'm not like the girls in the movies Kevin. I'm a guy." He said. I laughed.

"I know that idiot. Sit down." I said and we both sat down. Ben sighed.

"I don't really get it. Why do you like me?" He asked. I smiled.

"Well… I love your green eyes. I love the way you smile. I like your personality and I absolutely adore your shy side." I said. Ben began to blush again.

"And I love the way you blush too." I said. I had been holding a red rose behind my back since we left the car. I had bought it earlier when Ben didn't notice. I showed it to him. Ben stared at it.

"What… I mean… Why did you…?" He said and accepted the rose. He looked at it as he held it in his hands.

"You told me that you like roses, right? I can be romantic too you know." I said and grabbed his collar to pull him forward. I pressed my lips against his. He gasped, probably because of the surprise and I took the chance to slip my tongue into his mouth. I removed my hands from his collar to put one hand on his waist and the other on the back of his head. He made a small noise and I laughed into the kiss. The rose fell into his lap and he grabbed my jacket. He probably didn't know where to put his hands and just grabbed on to something. He slowly started to kiss back. Our tongues battled for dominance and I won. I loved kissing him like that, but it was creating a problem in my lower region so I broke the kiss. A thin thread of saliva was hanging between us. Ben's face was red and he was panting slightly. I grinned.

"I bet you liked that." I said. He didn't say anything. He just picked up the rose again.

Ben's p.o.v

We were back at Kevin's house. I hadn't expected him to bring me to an expensive restaurant or to give me a rose and kiss me like that. No, I hadn't expected it at all. I had put the rose in a vase and placed it on the bedside table. I looked at the beautiful flower and couldn't help but smile. Seeing it made me happy for some reason. It seemed that Kevin had been right. I was in love with him. I rolled over on my back and stared at the ceiling. I could still feel Kevin's lips against my own. I would be lying if I said that it hadn't felt good. Kevin was a really good kisser. I knew that I wasn't the best kisser. I didn't have much experience doing it and I definitely didn't have any experience when it came to sex… What if Kevin wanted to have sex with me? Was I ready for that? Did I even want it? The answers to my questions were maybe, no and I don't know. I didn't think Kevin would want to push me too far. He was nicer then he wanted people to think. I sighed. What if he had some weird fetish? I had to stop thinking about it. Kevin stepped into the room and climbed into the bed.

"Let's sleep in the same bed tonight." He mumbled. His eyes were already closed. I blinked in surprise.

"Uh… Sure." I said. He laughed a little and yawned.

"Goodnight Ben." He said and kissed my cheek.

"Goodnight Kevin." I answered him.

"So Kevin… What did you and Ben do last night?" Gwen asked. I nearly choked on my smoothie and began to cough. Kevin gently patted my back.

"Why do you ask?" He asked her. Gwen gave him a suspicious look.

"Because Ben has yet to say a single word." She said and raised an eyebrow.

"A single word." I said. Gwen sighed.

"That's not what I meant. Come on Kevin. Tell me. I want details. Did you two have sex?" she asked. I choked on my smoothie again. My face turned red and it wasn't because I was coughing. Kevin stared at Gwen.

"Wow. You're so straightforward. No, we did not have sex. We just started dating and Ben has just managed to admit that he likes guys. I wouldn't push him that far this early." He said and shrugged. I sighed inwardly. Thank god. He had confirmed my thoughts. He wouldn't push me to sleep with him. As Kevin and Gwen discussed whatever they discussed I continued drinking my smoothie. For some reason I felt a bit dizzy. I put down the smoothie on the table and began watching my friends. Was it just me or was Gwen developing a fourth eye? When did she get the third one? The dizziness became worse.

"Ben, how are you feeling?" It almost sounded as if Gwen was speaking in slow motion.

"Uhm… I'm fine." I mumbled and blinked. Two Gwen?

"You look pale. Are you sure you're okay?" She continued. Her voice seemed to come from far away. Was I falling? It felt like it and Gwen's face seemed to be further away. My vision was starting to get blurry and soon everything became black.

Kevin's p.o.v

Ben suddenly fell from his chair. I managed to catch him before he hit the floor.

"What is going on?" I asked. Ben was unconscious, but he seemed fine otherwise. Gwen looked worried.

"He's breathing normally right?" She asked. I nodded.

"Yeah. He's just unconscious." I told her. She rose from her chair.

"Let's head back to your place." She said. I nodded again and carried Ben to the door like a princess.

"Stop right there Levin!" A woman's voice yelled. Both Gwen and I turned around. It was the woman who had given Ben his smoothie.

"What is it? We paid." I said. The woman grinned.

"Oh, it's not about the smoothies. We want the boy." She said and pointed at Ben. Her tongue darted out and I could see that it was forked. She was one of the snake people. More of them appeared. Even children were there. Every single one of the guests had pretended to be human. Some of them slowly turned into their normal snake forms.

"Why isn't he dead Inara?" One of the snake men asked the woman who had spoken to us.

"He didn't drink enough of the smoothie, but he will be out for a while." She hissed back. I slowly sat Ben down against the wall.

"Looks like we need to fight." I said. Gwen nodded.

"Yeah, just make sure that no one gets to Ben." She said. I raised an eyebrow.

"We're finally dating. Do you really think I would let them kill him now?" I asked her and she laughed quietly.

"Watch out Kevin!" Gwen yelled and I ducked under an arm. I grabbed it and threw the attacker in another direction. I was beginning to get tired. The snake men were really fast and I couldn't let them bite me since their fangs were poisonous. Ben was still unconscious and couldn't defend himself. The attackers were too many. Gwen and I had already knocked out about fifteen of them and it was a little over twenty of them left.

"We should retreat." I heard myself say. I never thought I would say that. Gwen nodded.

"Yeah, get Ben." She said and raised a wall of mana between the snake men and us. I picked up Ben from the floor and hurried out to the parking lot. Gwen was right behind me. She did her best to get rid of our followers. I opened the door to the backseat and sat Ben down. I closed the door and hurried to the driver's seat.

"Hurry up Gwen!" I yelled and started the engine. Gwen blasted a snake woman away and jumped into the car.

"Go Kevin! GO!" Gwen yelled and I stomped on the gas pedal.

Ben's p.o.v

I slowly opened my eyes. My head hurt like hell and my body felt heavy. I was in Kevin's bedroom. How did I get there? I couldn't remember. The last thing I remembered was that I was drinking a smoothie and that Gwen was talking. Had I fainted? If so, then why? I didn't remember not feeling well. I slowly sat up. My headache just became worse so I lied down again. Where were Kevin and Gwen? I tried to hear anything and caught the faint sound of voices. They belonged to my cousin and… my boyfriend. It felt weird thinking of Kevin in that way.

"Did they follow us here?" Kevin said.

"No, I've checked four times, but couldn't detect any enemies." Gwen's voice answered. Enemies? Follow? What were they talking about? Had there been a fight? Was I knocked unconscious before it started?

"Go check on Ben." Gwen continued and I could hear footsteps getting closer. The door opened and Kevin stepped inside.

"Oh, you're awake." He said and sat down on the bed.

"How are you feeling?" He asked. I grimaced.

"My head hurts, but otherwise I'm fine." I answered him. He smiled and gave me a light kiss.

"What happened?" I asked him. He sighed and the smile disappeared.

"The woman who gave you your smoothie had spiked it. You were supposed to die, but apparently you had to drink all of it to actually do so. We found out that every worker and guest actually were snake men, there was a fight and then we fled in my car." He explained. I stared at him. I couldn't believe that it had actually happened.

"They must really hate you Ben. Samantha told you it was because of something you will do, right? What in the world are you supposed to do that will make them want to kill you and why would you do it?" Gwen said. I sighed.

"I don't know Gwen. She didn't say anything else and she hasn't been in school these past two days so I couldn't ask her." I said.

"Maybe you're supposed to do something that will affect the whole planet they live on?" Kevin said. I looked at him.

"Like what? I won't do anything to them if they're not planning an attack on earth or something." I said and closed my eyes. Kevin's arms were still resting around my torso. I didn't know how it happened, but for some reason I was sitting in his lap. He seemed to enjoy it though. The three of us were watching a movie, but none of us paid it much attention. Gwen ate some popcorn.

"Maybe someone is tricking them?" She said as the main character in the movie got attacked by a giant spider. I nodded.

"Yeah, that could be the case." I said. It became quiet and the only thing that could be heard was the spider's scream as the movie's hero killed it. All three of us sighed and Gwen got up from the floor.

"Well, I'll leave you boys now. Call me if there's any trouble." She said and left. I yawned. Kevin laughed.

"Shall we go to bed?" He asked with a smile.
