All I have to say about that episode is Shonda has me fucked up. I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Fitz knocked on the door, took a step back, and waited. He was nervous, very nervous. That much was obvious. He was shifting on his feet and kept looking at the flowers in his hands. Maybe they were too much. Maybe they looked cheap. The florist assured him that the arrangement was beautiful. Standing in front of Olivia's door that meant nothing. The florist was just trying to make a sell.

The two seconds it took for Olivia to get to the door felt like an eternity to Fitz. He was starting to assume the worst. Was this the right address? Did she change her mind and is sitting on her couch looking at the door wishing I'd leave? The door finally opened and he could breathe again.

"Hi." Olivia greeted him.

He took in her appearance. Her teal dress looked like it was made for her body. It was long enough to cover what was necessary while not appearing too modest. He loved it. "Hi."

"You're literally right on time. It is exactly 7:30." She smiled.

"Are you not ready?" He panicked slightly.

"No, I am."

"Here." He handed her the flowers. "These are for you."

"Wow." She was not expecting him to come bearing flowers. "Thank you. They're beautiful." She turned around and started heading towards her kitchen. "Come in. I have to put these in a vase."

He followed her through the door and looked around her home. "I like your place. It's very you."

"Thank you." She placed the vase on the kitchen table. "Alright. I'm ready." She grabbed her jacket when they made it back to the door.

He opened the door for. "Your chariot awaits."

"Are you telling me where we're going now?" He had refused to tell where they were having dinner insisting that she let him surprise her. She didn't tell him, but she hated surprises so this was sort of annoying her.

"Fine." She grumbled when he still refused. When they reached it, Fitz opened the door of his black Range Rover for her before getting in the car himself.

The ride to the restaurant was filled with pleasant conversation. They laughed when Olivia found a small plastic unicorn in her seat that belong to a certain 3 year old. Finally they reached the restaurant.

"This is where we're eating?" Olivia asked surprised.

"Yes, it is." Fitz smiled at her as he turned the car off.

"How on earth did you get a reservation here? I've heard that you have to wait months."

"I know the owner."

"Fitz." She exclaimed not believing him.

"I'm serious. I helped him and his son out of a major lawsuit." He looked over at her. "So he owes me a favor." He quickly exited the car, walked around the car and opened her door.

XOXOXOXOXO

"Why is it that every time we are together I end up sharing embarrassing stories about myself?" Fitz asked between laughs.

"You're the one that keeps offering them up. Plus, you never ask about my embarrassing stories."

"Well, in that case, start sharing Ms. Pope."

She rolled her eyes playfully. "If you must know." She began telling as many stories as she could think of. All of which, Fitz listened to intently. They continued to talk and laugh and enjoy their wine until they were almost the last ones in the restaurant.

"Maybe we should head out. I think they're getting sick of us." The waiters were looking at the couple silently begging them to leave so they could all go home.

Back in the car, they resumed their previous conversation. The ringing of Fitz's phone through the car speakers interrupted their conversation. "I know exactly who this is." He chuckled before he even look down at the caller ID. "Hey, Gia."

"Hey. El refuses to go to bed without talking to you first." Fitz looked over at Olivia and smiled then answered her.

"Alright. Put her on."

"Hi Daddy." They heard the excited voice of the child he loved so much.

"Ladybug, aren't you supposed to be in bed?"

"No."

"It's way past your bedtime."

"I had to say goodnight first." She responded innocently.

"After you say goodnight, you have to go sleep, okay?"

"Okay."

They went through the nighttime routine as best as they could over the phone, making sure to say goodnight at the end. As she listened to the way her interacted with his daughter, Olivia could feel herself falling more for Fitz. She was so deep in her thoughts that she didn't hear Fitz speak but quickly focused on what he was saying.

XOXOXOXO

Much quicker then they both would've liked, they reached Olivia's apartment. Not quite ready to say goodbye to him yet, she invited him in.

"I figured we'd had enough wine." She handed Fitz a glass of water as she sat down beside him.

"Yeah. We have." He sipped the cold liquid slowly. They were both silent.

"You're a great father." Liv spoke.

"Thank you. I try to be the best I can." He replied gratefully.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure."

"What happened to her mother? I don't mean to pry, but you just never mentioned her and I didn't know if-" She started rambling fearing that she had overstepped her boundaries.

"No, it's okay. Mellie was my wife," He began telling her the story of how Ellie came into their lives and of Mellie's death.

XOXOXOXOXO

Fitz and Olivia talked for much longer than they had realized. It was becoming easier and easier for them to lose track of time in each other's presence. Fitz glanced down at his watch and realized how late it really was.

"It's getting late." He observed.

"Yeah it is." Olivia agreed.

"I should go."

"You should go." Even though they both agreed that he should probably head home, neither of them made a move towards the door. Instead they looked at each other. Before he could think better of it, Fitz brought his lips down to Olivia's

She was shocked at first but quickly recovered enough to return his kiss. Her hands found their way to the hair at the nape of his neck and tugged it gently. When she felt Fitz's tongue trace her lower lip she opened her mouth to give him better access.

Eventually they needed to breathe and separated with a sigh. "I had to do before I lost the nerve." Fitz confessed.

"I'd been hoping you would all night." She giggled. Their foreheads were resting on each others.

Until next time!
