Chummy and Peter were on a very long boat ride home, then a train ride and now a two hour bus trip! She was so exhausted from all the traveling that she fell asleep on Peter on the bus, He held her close running his fingers through her hair and basking in her beauty.
They got to Leylands Street and saw the nurses with a motorbike! "What next Nuns on Ski's?" She exclaimed! "Chummy!" They all screamed, running over to her and Peter, giving them both hugs and the 6 of them shedding happy tears. "Careful chaps one has brought back a bit of extra luggage." She said, resting her hands on her stomach. "Oh, Chummy! How wonderful." Jenny said, smiling.
A few weeks went by and Chummy was due for a routine antenatal screening, she asked Trixie if she would make sure everything was tip top. Chummy was getting more worried by the moment, waiting for Bean to arrive, nerves were not a good thing for Chummy.
"Well Chummy everything looks perfect Head is well engaged too! Lets check baby's heartbeat shall we?" Trixie asked.
"Yes, please, Silly you are the one in charge here!" Chummy said, Brimming with beans.
"Absolutely wonderful, happy too scamp is kicking my Pinard!" Laughing she said.
"Yes, bean rather hates the cold, guess bean takes after mommy." A shiver split down her spine from the cold metal pinard.
"Chummy are you coming for monopoly tonight?" Trixie asked as she helped Chummy sit up. "Yes, Peter is on nights tonight, so one will be all alone." Frowning as she straightened her uniform.
The girls were playing monopoly in Trixie's room and drinking babychams, trying not to be too loud. Chummy was leaning on the blanket box, rubbing her now very large tum.
"You girls want to see Bean's game?" She asked with a grin on her face. "Can we!?" they asked in unison. "Here hands on ladies." They all put a hand on her tum. Waiting for something to happen. "I have a dancer." She said. "Hush little monkey don't peep a wink Aunt Trixie's gonna buy you a golden sheep, and if that golden sheep don't sing, Aunt Jenny's gonna knit you a pink blan-ket, and if that pink blanket won't warm, Aunt Cynthia's gonna buy you a new charm." Bean started moving like crazy, dancing around Knees, elbows, feet and hands all hitting different ways! "Ow-ww! Little Bean you can dance, but no trashing!" Chummy said wincing. The girls were loving feeling Bean move around all funny. Chummy couldn't stop yawning, each day grew more and more tiring. "One is so bally tired anymore, do you mind if one turns on?'' She asked trying not to yawn again. "Sleep well Chummy!" Trixie said Helping pull Chummy up from her place on the floor. "Goodnight all."
Peter got back to Nonnatus at half past six, Chummy was still sleeping, snoring away and shaking the windows. He loved watching her sleep, it was like watching his own angel.
He slid his arm around her waist and drifted off to sleep. She woke on this particular day at nine in the morning. She got up to get ready and fell, she stood only to get very lightheaded and landed back on the bed. "Oh!" She yelped, waking Peter frightening him. "Camilla are you okay?" He jumped right up and ran around the bed to where she was. "Camilla? Camilla!" He was extremely scared now. "One is fine, just very dizzy." Peter opened the door and yelled for the sisters. "Help! Sister Julienne!" He yelled not believing his wife. Three Sisters came running along with Trixie and her bag. "Whatever is the matter?" Sister Evangelina asked in a panic. "Nothing is wrong, I stood up and got dizzy no need to fuss." "One has every right to fuss! You are too close to them to not take precautions!" Sister Evangelina growled back. "Trixie I want a full examination, report back to me at once!" She continued. "Yes Ma'am, You heard her. Here, drink this water and I will stand my orders.'' Trixie took Chummy off the rota she was ordered to stay in bed for the rest of the day and to stay off her feet as much as possible for the next two days. Peter was deathly worried about her, asking for two days off so he could take care of her. "Peter you didn't need to do that I am fine."
"Fine you knocked yourself off your feet!"
"Peter." She said, in a huff.
"Don't Peter me, I know you. Now come here." He said, gesturing with open arms.
Peter didn't sleep that whole night checking on her, counting her breaths while holding her in his arms. He truly loved her more than anything, no one and nothing were loved more than her to him except God.
