Chapter 15 – Departure
Eragon was woken by the voice of his beloved early in the morning of his departure. He was exhausted as he had spent the rest of his day talking to his father, then when he arrived at his room he had talked for hours with both Saphira and Arya who were happy he had found his father. He quickly got out of his bed, went to the bathroom and took a quick bath. He changed into his travel clothing, a green tunic, comfortable riding pants and some hard duty leather boots. He decided he would eat atop Saphira as he wasn't that hungry at the moment. They finished packing their belongings and put them on Saphira's saddle before she flew them down to the entrance where his pack, his father, King Hrothgar and Orik were waiting for him.
"Good morning Eragon" said Jonathan as he dismounted Saphira.
"Morning John, Michael, Mia and Lucas" he said "hope you had a goodnight sleep?"
"Yes we did" said Mia happily.
"Morning brother" said Orik, and Eragon was pleasantly surprised at the dwarves greeting.
"Hello Orik, ready to go? You will be riding atop Saphira with me and Arya" he said, and the dwarf nodded. He then turned towards his fathers.
"King Hrothgar, I'd like to thank you for everything, and hope to see you again after finishing my training." He said
"The pleasure is all mine Shadeslayer, I hope you have a good trip." Eragon then turned towards Brom and hugged him.
"Goodbye father, and thank you for being there for me"
"Goodbye my son, and don't worry, we'll see each other soon" then Brom turned towards his friends "Please take care of him for me, he can get in trouble if left alone" he said with a laugh.
"Don't worry we will" said Arya with and with that they made their way to the tunnel that would lead the to the entrance that was behind the waterfall. Once out in the open Orik, Eragon and Arya climbed atop Saphira and took of while his pack phased and started running under them. The overall trip would take them a week and instead of crossing the Hadarac Desert they would follow the Edda River.
