I met Addison at the hospital the next day on the maternity floor at the nurse's station. she was leaned over the counter talking to one of the nurses. I tapped her on the shoulder and she turned around. She smiled when she saw me.
"Hey Callie. How are you feeling?" Addison asked.
"I threw up a few times this morning. So not great." I told her as we started walking to her office. She unlocked the door for me and let me go in first before she closed the door behind us. I sat down in a chair in front of her desk. She sat in the office chair behind her desk.
"So I'm guessing you want me to be your OB?" Addison asked jokingly.
"Duh!" I laughed. Addison smiled.
"Well how about we make sure there's a baby in there first shall we?" Addison laughed. I smiled.
"That sounds like a good idea. Can we just skip to an ultrasound?" I asked. Addison nodded.
"Come on, there's an ultrasound machine in the exam room next door." Addison said standing up from her chair. I got up from my own chair and followed her out of her office. She closed the door behind me. I led the way to the exam room with the ultrasound machine was. Addison sat down in a stool by the exam table and patted the white paper gesturing for me to lay down. I rolled my eyes and hopped up on the table. I felt like a little kid laying on the crinkly white paper. Addison flipped the machine on. I rolled up my scrub top. She squirted the gel onto my stomach and moved the wand around until she found the baby. She turned the screen so I could see it. There it was, another baby growing inside me. It brought tears to my eyes.
"Are you okay Callie?" Addison asked. I nodded.
"It's just so amazing." I told her smiling. Addison grinned.
"Trenton, Kimberly, and Teo are going to be so excited." Addison said. I smiled and nodded excitedly.
"We planned to tell them Saturday at the aquarium." I told her. She handed me a paper towel and I wiped off the gel. I pulled my scrub top back down and sat up fully. I rested my hands on my knees and wiped the sweat off them. I had been so nervous that my hands had gotten clammy. Addison handed me the ultrasound photo.
"Oh, by the way, you're ten or eleven weeks along." Addison told me. I nodded and stood up.
"Thanks. I'm going to go tell Mark. Do you want to meet for lunch?" I asked. Addison nodded.
"Sure. I'll let Alex know I won't be meeting him anymore." Addison said.
"You're ditching your husband for me?" I asked beaming.
"Don't make a big deal about it." Addison said sarcastically. I grinned and left the exam room. I found Mark in the burn center at the nurse's station.
"Hey babe." I told him. He turned around and smiled at me.
"Hey love." He said and kissed me. I showed him the ultrasound picture when we pulled apart. He grinned. "We're offically having another baby." Mark said beaming. I grinned and kissed him again.
"I'm about ten weeks." I told him. Mark smiled. "What do you want?" I asked.
"Honestly?" He asked. I nodded. "I want another girl. I'd love another little princess. Plus I think Kim needs someone on her side." Mark told me honestly. I smiled. Teo and Trenton pretty much never let Kim get a say unless we forced them to. She definitely needed someone on her side. Besides having two of each sex would be perfect.
"I agree. She needs someone on her side." I agreed. Mark smiled and kissed me again. "So I say we tell the kids at the aquarium Saturday like we planned." I told him as we walked hand and hand through the burn center hallways. Later, we were enjoying each other's company in the oncall room when my pager went off. I groaned and pulled away from making out with Mark to check it. "I have to go, it's a 911 page." I sighed. Mark frowned but nodded.
"I'll see you tonight." He said.
"Hey now, it won't take me all day." I promised and kissed him gently on the lips. He smiled. I turned and walked out of the oncall room, making sure to swing my hips as much as possible on the way out. I found my way to the pit expertly. I found Owen Hunt talking to April Kepner by the Nurse's station. I went over to them. Owen nodded in my direction when he saw me.
"Dr. Torres. They need you in trauma three." Owen said pointing in the direction of the trauma room. I nodded and walked into the room. Shepherd was already in the room checking the patient for head trauma. It was obvious there wasn't much for me to do. The only thing for me to fix was a pretty nasty knee fracture, which didn't take that long. It took me maybe an hour and a half. Once I was done in the OR I fell asleep in an oncall room until I was supposed to meet Addison for lunch. My phone alarm woke me up at 11:30. I finger combed my hair and pulled my lab coat back on before exiting the oncall room. I found Addison in her office bent over a stack of charts. I knocked on the door frame and Addison looked up from her paperwork.
"Hey Addison." I said. She smiled.
"Hey Callie, is it time for lunch?" She asked. I nodded. "Wow time flies when you're doing paper work. Tell me again why I procrastinated on filling out charts for so long?" Addison asked and stood up from her desk. I smiled.
"I don't know Addie, I never understood you." I teased. Addison rolled her eyes and followed me out of her office. We decided to go next door to a little café instead of eating in the hospital cafeteria because neither of us had many patients right now. I settled for a salad, my stomach had been feeling admittedly upset since I had woken up from my nap. Addison frowned when she sat down across from me with her sandwich and slice of cheesecake.
"Callie are you okay?" Addison asked. I took a small bite of my salad.
"Yeah sure. Why wouldn't I be?" I asked.
"You have never been a salad eater." She said pointing to my salad. I shrugged.
"I'm fine." I lied.
"Callie, what's wrong? Do you feel okay?" She asked feeling my forehead.
"I'm a little nauseas." I admitted.
"Well you're a little warm. Maybe you should go home and relax?" Addison asked. I shook my head and took another bite.
"I'm good. It's probably morning sickness." I told her. Addison rolled her eyes.
"That's exactly why you should go home." She pressed. I groaned.
"Fine I will go for you." I said and stood up. The room went sideways.
"Callie?" Addison asked worriedly. I stumbled and went down hard. My head smacked against the concrete and the world went dark.
