There is actually a very, very, very good reason this update is so late! So, first trimester of senior year? Relatively easy. Second triemster? I felt, feel, like a damned robot. Three papers, two presentations, and a project all due in three days and a test? Why don't we add fitting tigers to the death to this list while we're at it?! Plus, most feel time was consumed by actually getting things ready for college next year/this fall. Le sigh. Whelp, I'd compensate the long wait with an extra chapter, but the next chapter is around 13,000 words, so I won't overwhelm you today. Enjoy! P.S. - After this is updated, I'm going back and fixing some inconsistencies I noticed in the last two chapters. So, check that out in an hour or so!
"Isa, wake-y wake-y!" I swatted my hand in the general direction of the annoying voice and turned to face the wall. I sighed softly and snuggled deeply into my Tempur-Pedic bed and warm covers. My eyebrow twitched. Far too warm covers. Almost, suffocatingly warm. I paused. A laugh echoed in my head.
"Lovely Ari!" I screamed, thrashing to and fro in hopes of escaping my sleep made cocoon before it I died of a heat stroke. I felt frantic hands tugging at me and this cursed blanket.
"Isa! Isa! Calm down!" The voice yelled. Calm down? CALM DOWN?! Who the Garm do you think you are? I'm dying here! Not soon enough, I managed to break free of that devil's blanket. As I lay on the carpeted ground of the new Hades Cabin, I breathed a deep breath of cold air, sighing happily. I opened my eyes to see Nico crouched down next to me.
"What…the…Chernobog…"
"Dammit Isa!" Nico shouted. Looking up at him, I could imagine steam coming out of his head. Yeah, that's how mad he is. "I come and wake you up for school and you're screaming like a freaking lunatic and STILL using other pantheons. As a matter of fact, you're using gods I doubt even Annabeth knows."
"Blasphemy! Annabeth knows all!" I respond, slowly standing up. I shuffled over to my dresser, not feeling the energy portrayed in my shout. I opened the top drawer, pulling out a black tee, my black leather jacket, my tight black jeans, black shoes (Why do I have shoes in a dresser?), and a black bandana with fake ghosts decorating it. Finally, Nico's words caught up to me. "SCHOOOOOL?!"
"I was wondering when you'd react. You're a bit late; it's been nearly four minutes already. Isa, take off that ridiculous bandana, you know you can't wear that and your tiara."
"Meh."
"As I was saying, yes, if you remembered, Chiron announced yesterday that we will be going to school. Today. At seven o'clock in the morning. On a Wednesday."
"Someone will die. Painfully."
"Sorry, Isa. But Chiron has threatened no dessert for three weeks if you kill anyone." I smirked. "Or cause anyone pain," I pouted. "Of the physical sort," I smirked again. Victory will be mine. Wait a second.
"What did he threaten you with?" I asked suspiciously. Nico pouted, something that you don't see every day. Oh Set, how I wish that I had a camera, the Aphrodite girls would pay a fortune for something like this.
"No leaving camp. For a week."
"Can he do that?"
"I don't know, and I don't really want to find out."
"But wouldn't not leaving camp be a good thing. No school, right."
"He said that he would just send Annabeth in with schoolwork."
"Damn. He is evil."
"Oh, do continue with your conversation, it's not like we're goING TO BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!" Nico and I flinched in surprise. Annabeth was standing in our open doorway (How long has that been open for? If it's not closed fast, it'll let all the cold air out!), looking positively murderous.
"My dear Annabeth, you look-"
"Stuff it, Baby Bell. I'm tired, and there's a chance that we're going to be late. So, MOVE IT OR LOSE IT." I hightailed it out of that room, gliding right passed Annabeth, bemoaning the fact that I still haven't found the time to investigate that door or that weird notch in the mirror. Nico just shadow traveled to the bus. Lucky jerk. I gazed longingly at the mess hall, as I rushed by. Absentmindedly, I wondered where Rosabella was, as usually she picks me up and transports me to my destination.
I was out of breath by the time I reached the bus. Eighteen other students were already on the bus, even Annabeth, who I know was behind me when I left. No, don't tell me…
"You stole my dog!" I stated angrily. Hey, we children of Hades are very possessive. I hear Percy is the same way with Blackjack.
"Borrowed, Baby Bell, borrowed." I will torture her. One day. I flopped down, exhausted, into an empty seat in front of Nico.
A moment passed. "So, who's missing?"
"I'll do a roll call. It's only 7:15, school starts at 8:15, with a warning bell at 8:13, and it takes fifteen minutes to get to school from here." So, you didn't have to be Dictator Annabeth? I heard multiple other fellow students mutter about being woken up at the crack of dawn. I heard one even remark that he was dreaming about me and bathing suits. "Kevin?"
"Dammit."
"Okay, he's here. Clarisse?"
"Brat."
"She's here. Seaweed Brain?"
"Hey Wise Girl!"
"Yep. Thalia?"
"Screw this."
"Yeah, she's here. Stoll?"
"Yep."
"Yep."
"Okay. Malcolm?"
"Present."
"Good. Nikki?"
"Uh-huh."
"Excellent. Lissa?"
"Good morning, Annabeth." A morning person. Fan-tucking-fastic.
"Good morning, Lissa. Max?"
"Me and Katie are here. Katie is half-asleep though. Apparently she stayed up late last night. Something about stealing flowers and bunnies."
"It's Katie and I, Max. Jake?"
"Ma'am, Alex and I are present, Ma'am."
"Oh, ha ha. Robert?"
"Robert and I are bright and ready to go, Annabeth!" Will shouted. Most, resist, urge, to, slaughter. Nico chuckled darkly behind me.
"Good. Kaya?"
"I swear vengeance on the sun." This is why Kaya and I are friends. She thinks almost exactly like me.
"Good to know. Tess?"
"No."
"What?"
"No, I am not here."
"Alright then. Nico?"
"Death- I mean, yes?"
"You're here. Baby Bell?"
"I will feast on your bones and suck out your marrow."
"Good to know that you're feeling livelier. Did I miss anyone?"
"Drew." Nikki claimed. The rest of the bus groaned.
"Drew? Drew? Are you here?" Annabeth questioned.
"No, she's not." Will stated. I sneered. The sooner we get this over with, the sooner we get to that damn school, and the sooner I can go back to bed.
"I have arrived~." A pompous voice yelled, stepping into the bus.
"Drew…"Annabeth breathed. "You're late!" She screeched.
"Deal with it, Princess." Drew snapped, sitting down in the seat across from me.
Annabeth sighed, but seemed to let it go. For now. "Everyone, there are a couple of guidelines I want all of you to remember. We are Camp Breach to the mortals, and we are an exclusive year round camp run by the government for orphans or children from family's that are not fully capable of taking care of them. NO killing anyone. NO physically torturing anyone. Inform us if there is a monster sighting and, if possible, do not engage. Actually try in your classes. DO NOT disrupt a class. Remember, we are family. We will present ourselves as a unified force. Finally, no one is allowed to show the mortals our powers, whether accidentally or not. Argus? Drive." Annabeth sat down in the seat right behind Argus, Percy sitting next to her in the same seat.
Just as Annabeth predicated, it took us fifteen minutes to arrive at the school. The parking lot was littered with students and cars. Most students were shocked to see the bus. I mean, who wouldn't? The bus is freaking purple with black lightning bolts decorating it. Thalia's work, no doubt about it. Once the bus stopped and the doors opened, Annabeth was the first off, soon followed by Percy. She stood of to the side and counted as everyone got off the bus. It seems like she thought of everything.
"Eighteen. Nineteen. Twenty. Where's twenty-one?" Annabeth called.
"Isa! Get off the bus! We need to go to school." Nico cried out.
"Never!" I shrieked.
"Baby Bell-"
"Don't worry Annabeth, I got this." Nico reassured. By now, all eyes were on us. As if I'd get off this junk heap while being stared at. It's unnerving. "Unicorns. Suuuuuuck."
"Dammit Nico, today you die!" I shouted, flying out of the bus door with my hair and my black backpack soaring after me, tackling my big brother.
"Baby Bell! What did I say about-" Annabeth cut herself of as her lips twitched. Suddenly she burst out laughing. I sweat dropped. Yeah, she's been doing that a lot more lately, now that she can read minds. She quickly composed herself, acting as if nothing happened. "Now that we have everyone, you will wait outside the main office while Percy and I go in and retrieve your timetables." She ordered. We steadily marched up to the main office, passing many of our new peers. Most were guys goofing off and acting like idiots and the girls that were wearing clothes that were way too small for this weather. I can't really say much, though, since I rather enjoy the cold. Nico says it's a Child of the Underworld thing. Makes sense to me. It took five minutes to find the main office and another five minutes for Percy and Annabeth to receive our timetables, whatever those are. "Okay, who has never been to high school before? If so, we need to explain the basics of the class system to you." Nico, Clarisse, Max, Robert, and I raised our hands. "This school has trimesters. Each day is six classes long. However, depending on the class, one class could only be one trimester long, or two trimesters long. Long story short, you might have math now, but no math at the end of the year. Since we arrived halfway through the first trimester, we need to be focused on our studies. This experience will help us should we ever decide to branch off of camp." Annabeth handed out everyone's timetable, which makes more sense now, while Percy lingered behind her, checking for monsters, more out of habit than actual concern.
As Annabeth handed Drew her paper, she piped up once more. "This school has 358 students, who have all known each other since practically birth. Add us in, and that's 373 students. There are about twenty-four of them to one of us. We are the minority here. Remember that." Annabeth passed me my paper.
English – Building 3 – Mr. Mason
U.S History and Government – Building 6 – Ms. Lazio
Math – Building 5 – Mr. Varner
Lunch – Cafeteria
Biology – Building 4 – Mr. Molina
Gym – Gym – Coach Clapp
"Way to go, Bellsie-Bear."
"Whoever called me that will die."
"No killing, Baby Bell." Annabeth muttered absentmindedly, exchanging class information with Percy, Nico, Thalia, and Malcolm.
"So, La-La, what did you get?" Kaya asked, plucking my timetable from my hand. She proceeded to make faces at all my classes. "There's good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?"
I put on a brave face. "The bad news."
"The bad news is your school day sucks. The good news is that we have Biology together. From what I saw of everyone else's timetables," When did she have time to look at everyone's timetable, Annabeth passed them out barely two minutes ago? "You have Math with Nikki, Connor, Travis, Nico, and Annabeth. You have English with Annabeth, Percy, and Nico. You have Government with Percy, Annabeth, Thalia, and Clarisse. You have Biology with Nico, Percy, and I. And finally, You have Gym with Clarisse, Nico, and Annabeth. Sounds like fun!"
I froze. I have all but one of my classes with Nico, my over protective brother and a horde of teenage, hormone ridden, disgusting, mortal boys. All in the same room. The chances of someone dying just increased by 67%. Though, whether that is a good thing or a bad thing has yet to be seen.
"We're screwed."
"I hear ya. Just imagine the terror the Boss Man will rain upon this school if a single mortal touches Annabeth. Oh, I can hear their delicious agony now."
"With your sadism, one would think that you were a child of Hades."
Kaya stuck her tongue out at me. "With your spastic-ness, one would think you're a child of Hebe."
Disgraceful.
"Touché."
"Everyone know where they are going?" Annabeth called, a loud ringing echoing as she spoke. We nodded. "Good, that was the bell. Everyone, head to your class. Seaweed Brain, Baby Bell, and Nico, you're with me. Move out!" Commander Annabeth shouted.
It was a long and boring walk to the third building. We were silent. I was bored. When we get back to camp, I am going to kill something. Yes, that's a plan. I'll summon a demon and fight it to the death. Then I won't be bored. I almost wish that there was still some fighting going on, so that I could finally torture someone.
"Baby Bell, Chiron has told you time and time again, no summoning demons. Remember the last time." Annabeth reprimanded. Ah, last time. Now that was fun. I do wonder if that third-world country has recovered yet. What was it called? Haji? Mattie? Hattie? Haiti! That's it! I was angry because the name was far too close to Father's, so I summoned a demon. I think, just maybe, I went too far on that one. Note to self: Stop destroying third-world countries. Second note to self: Send money to help repair Haiti. Just thinking the name makes me mad again. Maybe, instead of a demon, I'll send a few vengeful spirits. Yes, destruction…
"Annabeth, you ruin all the fun." Nico said as we turned a corner.
"Baby Bell destroyed an already poor country to spite it." Annabeth snapped.
"It insulted her." Nico remarked.
"That is no reason to kill, injure, and displace hundreds of people." Percy butted in. "However, I do understand that the two of you do not see mortals the same way we do, and I am sorry that you don't trust them."
"They are disgusting creatures that care for nothing but themselves." I sneered, crossing my arms in front of my chest stubbornly and defensively. There was a thrum of agreement in my mind that echoed multiple times before dying down.
We paused outside a door. "Do not let your own experiences cloud your judgment, Isabella." Percy stated coldly. I glared at him as he opened the door. My own experiences? Read the newspaper. Lies, death, destruction of nature, and disease. Mortals are a virus. My little hissy-fit nearly two years ago, six weeks after Father and Nico first found me, only got rid of a few of them. I grasped Nico's hand tightly, as Percy opened the door.
"You four must be the new students, as you know, I am Mr. Mason. Pleased to meet you. And each of you is…?" A kind looking brown-haired man that was facing our new peers with a book in his hand asked.
Annabeth stepped forward. "I am Annabeth Chase, the boy next to me is Percy Jackson and those two are Isabella and Nico DiAngelo."
"It's nice to meet all of you. Annabeth, you, Percy and Nico can sit in that back row. Isabella, you can sit next to Mike, right there. Any questions?" I widened my eyes as Nico gently slipped his hand out of mine. I clenched my hand into a fist at my side.
"You'll be fine, Isa." Nico breathed as he passed by me. I walked nervously to my new seat, not that I showed my nervousness. As much as he pisses me off, Nico has been my security blanket since I first entered the supernatural world. Sure, we have been separated before, with him being the wandering type, but that was after I had adjusted to my new world. During that time, Nico barely ever left my side. I still have to change and bathe, so he would wait outside the bath room for those times, of course. But now, I need to adjust to this new world, the world of an average teenager and this teacher just separated me from my security blanket. Is this what it means to be a teen? To be taken out of our comfort zones again and again until we get used to it? I don't want this. I don't want this. We don't want this. Not again. Not again.
No, no, no no nononononono!
I settled down next to a blond boy. He was cute enough looking, for a mortal. I glanced behind me. Stupid teacher, letting Percy, Annabeth, and Nico sit together, yet placing me next to a mortal. A mortal boy. A blond mortal boy who I can practically feel undressing me with his eyes. Father, please, open a pit and swallow his soul into Tartarus. You can do that kind of stuff, right?
There was no answer, not that I honestly expected one.
"Hello." A vague and easily forgettable voice called out. Hm? Is Grover around? I swear, the only people that remember him are Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia. Which means everyone does, since they are the three of the seven main powers at Camp, two of them being the camp leaders. Though, last I remember, Percy said that Grover and Juniper are on honeymoon. I'll ask Nico what that means later. I mean really, the moon isn't made of honey. Silly, silly Percy. "Hello." There it is again. This is going to get annoying. "My name is Mike, and you are?" I snapped around to look at the boy sitting next to me, eyes wide. Great Jana, he was the one talking this whole time. Gods, and he sounds so, so, happy. I think I'm going to have nightmares about this guy. Are his- are his teeth sparkling? Yup, definitely having nightmares. "I like your shirt." Bull. I'm wearing a black t-shirt, something I know makes my pale as death skin look even paler, and you are just as happy as the sun. Almost as if you're Apollo's clone, only more annoying and forgettable. There, since I can't be bothered to remember your name, you shall now be known as Mr. Sunshine or even AMAC, short for Apollo's More Annoying Clone. "Hey, since you're new to town do you want me to show you around after school, there's this one diner nearby that's to die for?" Are you offering? Cause I haven't killed anything in days, nearly a week.
"No." I opted not to add the 'thank you' part, it might actually encourage him.
He looked surprised. Honey, you're not that pretty. Though, maybe the gods have spoiled me. I mean, they believe in perfection, which totally does not exist, so they look like sex gods, which I believe some of them are, and as such, their children look like sex gods. So, on a scale of one to ten, you, my dear sweet Mr. Sunshine, are only a measly two. "Why not?"
"Because I don't date."
"Why not?" Gods, you're like a freaking parrot, with all you're repeating yourself. If you say 'why not' one more time, I will rip the happy right out of your soul then proceed to tear out your intestines and strangle you with them. Damn, I need to kill something.
With my head turned towards my seating partner, thoroughly ignoring the teacher, I noticed movement out of the very corner of my eye. I smirked. Time for some giggles.
"Because of that." I stated, absentmindedly gesturing behind me. I watched with glee as he lost five shades and the happy glow melted to the floor. I looked behind me as well after watching the satisfying sight of the happy being tore away. I saw the three finalists for America's Next Top Death Glares! In third place, with a glare that sends children screaming, Annabeth Chase! In second place, with a glare that makes even Death run home to his mommy, Nico DiAngelo! And in first place, and America's Next Top Death Glare winner, with a glare that made Chuck Norris cry, Percy Jackson! That is all fokes, thank you and good night! A purr rumbled through my thoughts.
Annabeth suddenly started laughing, breaking Nico and Percy out of their glares. She was laughing so hard, I was vaguely concerned about her head popping off, at least until I realized what, exactly, Annabeth was laughing about. Menrfa dammit, Annabeth, stay out of my mind! She slowly shook her head, still giggling, before pointing at Nico. Oh, so it was Nico's thoughts that made her break composure. Mildly embarrassing. And awkward.
Annabeth, oi, Annabeth, what was Nico thinking about?
She pantomimed slitting AMAC's throat. I mentally pouted. I hadn't thought of that, though I did think of something involving starving rats, a butter knife, two pieces of cheese, a corset, and AMAC's intestines.
Annabeth shot me a look that translated to, 'Damn, you need to get laid,' normally, however, with my circumstances, it translate to, 'Damn, you need to kill something.' No freak, Annabeth, what gave you that idea. Was it the fact that I didn't kill anything before we left or since we got here, perhaps? Gods, I can feel a migraine coming on.
A bell rang.
"Holy Shiva!" I shouted, suddenly being snapped out of my thoughts. My new peers giggled.
"As interesting as Hindu gods are, Ms. DiAngelo, it is time to leave. Homework for tonight is to finish Chapter 2 and write a paper on the motifs found in it, due in three days. Thank you, good bye."
Nico caught up to me as I walked out the door, and cuffed me over the head.
"What have I said about our pantheon?"
"We worship the Greeks, none other." Gods of Old, I'm starting to think we are being a little closed minded here.
"Seaweed Brain, Baby Bell is starting to regress, find the first assignment that you can, so that she does not turn on us." I love how much faith they have in us. But, I can't blame them. Rarely has there been a Child of Hades that has been able to fully overcome the Hades Children Darkness once it sets in.
"Where are you going?" I asked Nico as I noticed him heading in the opposite direction, towards Building 7, the Language building.
"I am sorry, Isa, but I have Spanish right now. Be good for Annabeth, Percy, Thalia, and Clarisse." I practically felt my pupils dilate. Leaving, he's leaving me. "Isa, I have no choice in this matter, calm yourself." I took a deep breath. I have Percy and Annabeth, I'll be fine.
"Prissy, Annabeth." Clarisse growled as she and Thalia approached us. Nico continued to soothe me.
"We are off to Government. Baby Bell, say bye to Nico, we have to go." Annabeth stated, moving forward. Percy lingered, looking at my trembling form with worry. Nico nodded to him and he sighed before following Annabeth.
"Clarisse." She turned to him. "Watch after Isa for me." Her eyes softened. Nico sounded so concerned, as if the mere thought of a temporary guardian that was not himself would break us both.
"Sure thing, Corpse Breath, just don't expect me to change the diapers." I continued to cling to Nico, ignoring her jab. She sighed. "Alright Princess, off to Government we go." Clarisse grabbed me under the arms and started to carry me like that to the class. I didn't kick up a fuss as I watched over her shoulder as Nico stared at me for a moment before turning and walking swiftly to Spanish.
She continued to carry me, Thalia lingering next to her, no one saying a word until we reached the room and stopped next to Annabeth and Percy. Percy looked over at me, concerned.
"Bella, you're going to be fine, we're all friends." Percy tried to reassure nervously. I didn't even blink, my gaze focused blankly out the door. Half my attention wavered to Percy as he fluttered around, not sure what to do. This is our fearless leader and courageous hero? But, I think that is what makes Percy so liked. He's still so human.
"I would appreciate it if, next time, you didn't carry your classmate into my class." The teacher, presumably Ms. Lazio, stated. "Now, you are my new students, Annabeth Chase, Percy Jackson, Clarisse La Rue, Thalia Grace, and Isabella DiAngelo, correct? Now, I assume you are Percy Jackson, as you are the only male, however, can the rest of you introduce yourselves."
"I am Annabeth Chase." Annabeth responded promptly.
"La Rue." Clarisse grunted, one eyeball focused on my still form.
"Thalia."
"I am guessing that that makes you Isabella. Are you alright, are you needing the nurse?" Ms. Lazio questioned. Percy and Thalia shifted uneasily while Clarisse and Annabeth watched me worriedly. I didn't move. "Isabella? Are you alright?"
"Please, don't mind Bella, she is missing her older brother right now."
"Oh?"
Annabeth continued. "Nico and Bella are so rarely apart that the fact that he is not with her at the moment is stressing her out. She should be fine after a few minutes. You should have seen it the first time, she wouldn't move for three hours, and even then, it was only because Nico returned." The teacher glanced at me, unsure, before turning to the other four.
"Are there any nicknames that you wish to be called?"
"Well, Bella likes being called Bella."
"Done. Now, Clarisse, please guide Bella to the back left row, you, Bella, and Annabeth will sit there. Percy, you and Thalia will sit in at the desk next to them, the back middle row. Thank you."
As we were seated, Ms. Lazio started the class. I fully admit to not paying attention to any of it. I noticed that Ms. Lazio would glance at me every few minutes, but I just stared at the door. He will come back and get me, just like every other time. He will come. He promised that he would never leave me.
Abandonment. Loneliness. Again, alone again. Alone. ALONE! He left me. He left us!
Not now. Please, not now.
The bell finally rang. I didn't move, too focused on what was going on inside to interact with the outside. Percy, Annabeth, Clarisse, and Thalia converged in front of me.
"Wise Girl, what should we do?"
"The only two ways to snap her out of it is for her to adjust to it, which can take hours, or for Nico to talk to her."
"You have Math with him next, right Annabeth? Why don't you just carry her there?" Thalia supplied.
"Can't. In this state, Baby Bell is only half aware of what is going on around her. From what Clarisse was telling me during the class-" Annabeth wasn't paying attention in class and I missed it? –"Nico entrusted Baby Bell to her. Baby Bell will stick to that and anyone else that tries to carry her will end up with a pissed off, half there (Meaning not fully in control, Percy, stop making that face.) Baby Bell, which is not something anyone wants to deal with. It's less that she is not aware of what is going on around her; she's just not attached to the real world anymore, meaning she has little to no control over her emotions or powers. As I said earlier, she will adjust, but you guys know that the only time Baby Bell and Nico are farther than ten feet apart is at camp. This change in scenery is affecting Baby Bell more than Chiron had originally that, though that is the reason he sent her here. If she cannot adjust quickly to being away from Nico, how will she live once she leaves camp? She can't stay there forever." How many lies and half-truths are you willing to let slip through your lips, Annabeth? How much longer can you keep the confines of my mind secret from the rest of our family?
"Technically-"
"Seaweed Brain," Annabeth warned.
"You can't just dig through her mind and find out the best way to go about this?" Percy begged.
"When in this state, she is nearly impossible to read. Her thoughts are too meshed and jumbled. There's a significantly high chance that should I try, my consciousness will be lost." Annabeth mumbled.
"We can't be late for class, Chiron will skin us." Clarisse reminded the other three.
"And my Lady will put me on trash duty. Argh." Thalia twitched.
"Who would have guessed that little Miss Goth hates tra-"
"Bella, we're going to be late." Ms. Lazio glanced up at the interruption to the strange conversation, how did those four not notice her?, and gasped as I calmly popped out of my seat, grabbed my black backpack and skipped over to Nico. "I think you worried our friends, Isa." I grabbed his hand, not saying a word, merely basking in his aura. "I get it, I get it. But that does not excuse the fact that they were concerned and so was that teacher of yours."
"I like her." I muttered. Nico smiled a small smile.
"When do you think they'll realize that I came and got you, Bella?"
"Soo-" I tripped. I froze, resting on my hands and knees. I shifted slightly so that I was on the balls of my feet, my head a little fuzzy. Nico stopped right in front of me.
"Clumsy Bella." He teased, reaching his hand out for me to take. The image was over lapped by a brilliant memory of a similar moment not too long ago.
"I won't hurt you, my name is Nico. You are my new sister, Isabella. I will call you Isa from now on. Grab my hand. I promise, I will never let you go."
Never?
Never.
Never.
Never!
Never let me go!
"Hey!" Percy shouted, finally catching up, Annabeth only one step behind.
"Finally, what took you idiots so long?" I asked, shaking the cobwebs from my head and grabbing Nico's hand, letting him pull me up. All three of them ignored the fact that my hands were shaking.
"Clarisse thought that she lost you and Nico was going to feed her soul to his pet monkey demon. Apparently, she has a deathly fear of monkeys and blames Nico, for some reason." Percy looked at Nico in inquiry. Annabeth stifled at giggle.
I ignored the two and glanced up at Nico. "Where to next, Big Brother?" I could practically see Nico preening, man, does he love to be called 'Big Brother,' maybe I should do it more often.
"Math, Isa, with Nikki, Connor, Travis, Annabeth and myself. Percy has Gym." Nico stated, reverting back to the nickname he has called me since the very first day we met. And what a strange day that had been.
Annabeth kissed Percy on the check as we said our goodbyes. On our way to the Math class, which was Trigonometry, we met up with Nikki, Connor, and Travis. Two of the three were laughing. I'll give you two guesses as to who it was, and the first guess doesn't count.
"Connor, Travis, just what did you do this time?" Annabeth snapped. Now I fully admit, Annabeth is a scary person. However, I feel, personally, that some of the fear comes from the fact that Percy is always lingering behind her, with a 'Harm my girlfriend mentally, physically, or emotionally, and I will feed you to Bella,' look. Though that does leave the question of if I'm scarier than Percy since he uses me as a threat to idiots…doubt it.
"Why Annabeth, whatever makes you think that we did something?" Travis asked looking scandalized.
"That fact that you're giggling." Annabeth deadpanned.
"Oh, are we not allowed to giggle now, Miss. Chase?" Connor questioned. I noticed Travis face-palming behind him. Who in the name of Dad admits to giggling, especially if you're a guy?
"Yes." Annabeth stated. She paused for a second. "You two forgot my gift, didn't you?"
Connor and Travis froze. Then they twitched at the same time. It was almost like looking in a mirror; just one of the reflections was taller than the other. They sighed in defeat. "Yeah, yeah we did." They admitted, speaking as one.
"Foolish fools." I muttered.
"Isa, be nice." I pouted. Being nice isn't fun though. Nico seemed to read my expression, "Set a good example for your peers." Like that will work. "Do it or the unicorn stuffed animals get it." I was wondering where my unicorns went.
"Do it and you'll learn what it's like to be a woman, the painful and non-magical way, dear, dear brother of mine." I hissed back, watching as Annabeth berated the Stolls for some prank while Nikki laughed in the background. Nico paled.
We arrived at the math classroom fairly quickly, before the bell even rang. This is rather surprising considering the fact that we had lingered in the last class for two or three minutes, then Nico and I talked for two minutes, and the walk here was at least two minutes long.
"Annabeth Chase, Nikki Demi-Dieu, Travis Stoll, Connor Stoll, Nico DiAngelo, Isabella DiAngelo. Welcome to my class, find a seat so that this class can begin." Mr. Varner stated from the white board. Quickly we found seats that, at the very least, were near each other. Annabeth was in the middle of the third row, Nikki right across from her, Travis behind Nikki and Connor behind and across from him. Nico and I were in across from each other three seats behind Annabeth. "Ignoring the new students as I am sure you all already know their names-"
"I don't!"
"Shut up, Nervin, nobody likes you."
"Aww."
"Now, we are continuing with our lecture on the three functions, sin, cos, and tan, which as we know, stand for Sine, Cosine, and Tangent…" I think my brain just died. I glanced at my brother only to notice that he was staring blankly out the window. I glared at him and thought back one moment. Nikki's fake name is rather ridiculous. I mean, Demi-Dieu? Any French reject can figure that one out in a millisecond. Let's hope that there are no monsters that know French. I noticed Annabeth twitch. She knows a monster that knows French? I thought back on all the stories that Percy, Annabeth, Nico, Thalia, Grover, and Chiron have told me. The Manticore, Dr. Thorn, had a French accent, though if he actually knew French is still an unknown fact. If so, then why in the name of my Father do we have one of us advertising it like a big freaking billboard? Annabeth twitched again. On that note, with this many demigods in on school, aren't we just asking to be eaten? If so, may I use a mortal or two as a meat shield? I do believe that Mike would do so willingly…maybe. Annabeth twitched. It seems that I have found a new way to entertain myself during classes. Oh, Annabeth, you know you just wanna turn around, snap out of that chair, storm over here, and slap me over the head. But you can't. You're the perfect student, after all. Can't have you ruining your spotless record because of disorderly behavior, Annabeth, even if you really, really, wanna.
She twitched. Oh, this is almost as good as torturing someone. Is this technically a form of torture? Oh the questions.
What if I did this…I started to imagine a beautiful field, in the middle of said field, Thalia and Percy were sucking faces. Annabeth barely twitched. Okay, time to change the focus. I traded Thalia off for Rachel. Annabeth twitched violently. The teacher glanced worriedly at her. Slowly, I started to mix and match people she knows. Percy with Clarisse, Percy with Nico (I am his little sister, imagining him doing dirty things to one of his best friends and big brother figure, though amusing, scarred me for life), Nico with Luke, Ethan and Percy, Luke and Athena, Athena and Poseidon, Poseidon and Hades. The matchups kept coming and Annabeth kept reacting. I was just beginning on pairing up Hades and Athena, when I felt someone kick my seat. I contemplated taking vengeance of a violent kind when I turned to see that it was Nico.
'What?' I mouthed to him.
"Stop torturing Annabeth, she will retaliate. Personally, I don't want to have to clean up your blood from the floor with a toothbrush." He whispered to me. I pouted. Sure, Annabeth will get revenge, but that is the fun part. Once she attacks me, it is open season. Chiron Rule #3486, pranks are alright, if they are fun and harmless, however, prank wars cannot be started. (That rule lasted two days before a tag on was added.) No prank wars unless a victim of a prank retaliates within two days of the prank. You got to love Chiron. Though the fact that Chiron was out numbered 2 to 147 is something to be remembered.
I think Nico saw my glee in my maliciously twinkling eyes because he groaned and shut his eyes tight in defeat.
I spent the rest of the class trying to come up with more Poseidon Child nicknames. It went as well as the last time.
The bell rang, shocking me out of my internal debate about trying to make jokes about Poseidon's more sexual aspect, as a god of fertility, something I believe might have been tacked on by the mortals (but, you never know), when the bell rang.
"Man, you guys are lucky, coming here on one of the very few sunny days Forks has."
"Holy Athena's immortal owl!" I flipped out, throwing my arms into the air and my body to the ground. The end result was my butt being in the chair, my hands on the desk and my upper back connecting painfully with the carpet covered floor. I glared up to see AMAC gazing down at me, concerned and confused.
"Hey, are you alright?"
"Bella!"
"Baby Bell!"
"Bella!"
"Bella!"
"Isa!" Nico shouted, reaching me first and shoving the mortal boy out of the way. His fingers fluttered over me, searching frantically any injures, whether it was a bruise or a scratch.
"Brother, I'm fine." I stated calmly, noticing that he was glaring at my hangnails and callouses.
He stopped glaring accusingly at the minor and insignificant injuries on my hand and turned instead to the boy that startled me so bad that I actually referred to my own pantheon.
"I'm sorry; I didn't think that you would be so startled to see me, Bella."
"Her name is Isabella to you." Nico stated coldly. I noticed Annabeth, Travis, Connor, and Nikki lingering behind Nico, adding to the intimidation with their combined glares, while Mike was standing next to me and slightly behind me, crouched down to my level.
"Oh, and who are you?" AMAC asked, jealously being barely covered though still very obvious. Jealousy is a sign of possession, and I sure as Father's name am not his. He will die for that insult.
"Nico DiAngelo, Isa's older brother. And you?"
The idiot of a mortal boy started, as if honestly surprised by that answer. "I am Mike Newton, I offered to be Bella's tour guide to our charming little town." That is the second strike, the first being the jealously, which is an attribute of Hera, someone I don't really like. Not that I can think of anyone who actually likes her. Maybe Lady Aunt Hestia, she likes most beings.
"Oh, she has yet to mention you." Gods of New, I hope we aren't late, we have Lunch next and I really want to tell Kaya about what has happened so far.
"Really now, she has yet to mention you as well." And what makes you think that I would tell you anything. Strike three; you're out, for being an arrogant mortal.
"Brother, let us leave." I insisted.
"He is threatening your pride as my sister, Isa. Let me take care of him."
"The rules are final. Let us leave." I repeated, my voice deliberately blank.
"Isa…"
"Nico, we need to leave, we have lunch now. The others are waiting." Annabeth stepped in. Nico sighed but acknowledged Annabeth's authority and slowly stood, helping me off the floor in the process. He grabbed my supplies and shoved it into my bag. Grapping my wrist, he dragged me out of the room. I refused to recognize the foolish and ignorant mortal by saying a farewell as we trooped out of the room, leaving him by himself.
We were silent as we heading towards the cafeteria. Annabeth stopped us right before the door. After a quick scan to make sure that no one was around, Annabeth rounded on Nico.
"What, in the name of my Mother, did you think you were doing?"
Nico looked at her dispassionately. "I believe that I was talking to a mortal whose hands had wandered."
"Do not take me for a fool, Nico DiAngelo. You were gearing up to drag that boy to whatever realm you saw fit."
"A Demon Realm."
"And you admit it."
"Wandering hands do need to be taught a lesson, is that not what you told Travis and Connor?" Nico asked, voice having gone completely monotone.
"That was for stealing Chiron's cookies and Katie's favorite homemade brownies!"
She forgets the Big Three Children Possessive Streak. Now forever named the BTCPS Syndrome. Or just the DCP Syndrome (Demigod Crazy Possessiveness Syndrome).
"He touched what is mine." Nico informed Annabeth, wrapping his arms around my slim form in a claiming hold in a rare moment of DCP, something he usually refrains from showing, due to him being raised by his sister as a mortal. Annabeth's checks puffed out.
"Annabeth, you have been at camp longer than the rest of us, yes, but you have yet to accept that some of us are not the same as mortals. Why do you think Clarisse stays for the school year?" Nikki chimed in.
"You seem to forget that I was once there."
"And now you deny it. Percy is the most mortal demi-god I have ever meet, but in name alone. He possesses demi-god behaviors that he ignores or passes off. Do not deny this." Travis stated gravely.
"We are different. We acknowledge this. Annabeth, you spend so much time around demi-gods or mortals, not the two together to understand the true differences. One would think that now, now that you can truly see, you would understand better than anyone." I muttered, breaking out of my brother's protective hold reluctantly and pushing open the doors to the large room.
Much to learn, Seeing One, much to learn
I silently agreed.
"Bella." Annabeth susurrated. She has seen what I have seen and knows where my beliefs lie. She had lost her conscious in mine once before and found her way out with no wish to ever go back.
"La-La"! Kaya shouted, standing up from the table she sat at with Percy, Kevin, Clarisse Thalia, Drew, Katie, Max, Lissa, Malcolm, Robert, Will, Tess, Jake, and Alex. I smiled. This is my family, part of it at least, and no mortal will get in the way of that.
"Hello, my name is Jessica."
Dammit.
Heh. I really have fun with this story. And yes, for all wondering, Bella's Creepy Voice is a MAJOR part of the story. In two or three chapters at least. And, in order to disappoint no one, The Flock will make an appearance and will be an important factor in this story. Just, this time, Max won't be pregnant. Anywho, the winners from last time are:
I'm. .addict
and

Your Creepy Voice will be sent to you soon, worry not. Any request on the premises of what you want the Creepy Voice to say?
