I had a dream the other night
About how we only get one life
Woke me up right after two
Stayed awake and stared at you

I was awoken up by my arm being shaken and the crying of my daughter. I blinked and stared at the bright lights above me and had to take a second to let it sink in what had happened.
I had cut myself on the coffee grinder and I had fainted from everything that had happened today and during the week. I hadn't fainted at the sight of the blood, but I did fain because of everything that weighed down on me.
"Mommy! Don't die!" I looked at Kaelynn, her beautiful blue eyes were filled to the brim with tears and her face was red and flushed.
"Your mom will be fine. She's just got a minor cut." The doctor walked into the room and when I looked at him, I was a little shocked. The doctor didn't look like he was any older than 26. He had bright blonde hair and golden eyes and he looked like he was built of marble.
"Thank you Dr. Cullen. I guess I came to the hospital a little earlier than planned." My father was trying to make conversation with this doctor, but judging from the look on his face he found it hard.
"Thank you for stitching our daughter up. When can she go?" The doctor looked at his charts and then back at me. He smiled politely and then set his charts down before coming towards me. He grabbed my hand and looked at the stitches, giving me a better look at him.
There was really something off about him. I couldn't put my finger on it, but there was something that was firing off warning signals in my brain.
"She can go now. I will need to see her in 3 weeks to take out the stitches. But until then just make sure it's clean and if it looks infected at any time, make sure to bring her back." The doctor and my father talked for a few minutes before he grabbed his charts and left the room and then it was silent.
"Well he was certainly…young?" I nodded and briefly looked at the direction he went. Then my mind drifted to Kaelynn and what Embry had said yesterday. It wasn't fair that he was quick to judge when he didn't know my situation. How fucking dare he.
"Mommy I want to go home." I nodded and I sat up. Once I sat up, it was like I was on autopilot. I went through the motions of getting into the car, buckling up, getting out of the car, giving Kaelynn a snack and going up to my room.
Once I was in my room, I laid down and stared at the ceiling. I thought of everything and nothing but it seemed like my thoughts always drifted back to the brown eyes that captivated me and the dick behind them that pissed me off.
"Damn you Embry."

Time went by, about a week and a half and I hadn't seen or heard from Embry. Not that I would've minded expect that for the past week and a half, I hadn't been able to stop thinking about the dick. It was infuriating because I was so pissed off by what he had said to me and yet I couldn't stop thinking about him.
"I dug my key into the side of this pretty little souped up four wheel drive, carved my name into his leather seats…" I sung along to the lyrics that were playing on the radio. I had to work a long shift tonight at the coffee shop and since it was almost closing, it was dead as dead could be. So to keep myself busy, I was cleaning and rearranging what I could.
"I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights, slashed a hole in all 4 tires...Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats." I sung the last chorus and finished washing the last dishes. I only had an hour left until I could close the store for good and go home. I couldn't wait.
"You must have one hell of an ex." I groaned and set the dish down. I dried my hands and walked out of the back towards the front. I stood in front of the till and stared at two tall, bulky natives who were staring at me.
"You could say that. What can I get for you?" Brady grinned widely and stepped right up to the counter. I made a face at him and took a step back. I could easily make a weapon out of some hot coffee pots and some glass plates.
"Well I would like a large coffee with two creams and two sugars and Brady…" I looked from the other guy to Brady and watched him closely. If he leaned any closer to me, he would get some hot coffee all over him.
"I would like to know if you're free on Saturday." I raised an eyebrow as I made the first guys coffee. If he was asking me out on a date, he sure was bold.
"I'm not interested. Really, it's not me. It's you." I handed him his coffee and when I put the money into the till and gave him his change, I gave him a quick thank you.
"Anything for you or no?" Brady was still grinning at me, from ear to ear. I was going to smack the smile right off him if he didn't stop soon. I was not in a super smiley mood and his good mood made me seem even crankier.
"I really would like to know if you're free Saturday but it's not for me. Trust me." I sighed and leaned against the counter. I was tired and I was tired of seeing those damn brown eyes in my mind all the time.
"If this has anything to do with Embry, then no. I am not." I walked around the counter, grabbing the disinfectant spray and cloth on my way. I started on the far left tables and worked my way right. I was aware the whole time that Brady was following me.
"He's sorry Chelsey! Give him a chance!" I ignored him and kept cleaning tables. I had one left and was about to start on it, when a hot hand grabbed mine.
"Chelsey…" I pulled away and threw the cloth at him.
"What? What do you want? You want me to give him a chance? After what he had said to me? After how he had looked at me? I am not new to those looks, I'm really not Brady. But damn!" I frowned and pulled out a chair and sat down on it. I crossed my arms over my chest and glared out the window.
"He's sorry Chelsey." I scoffed.
"Please Chelsey give him a chance." I looked at Brady then to his friend.
"You tell Embry something for me. You tell him to get a set of balls and come apologize himself." I stood up and walked past him. I walked into the back, drained the sink and then kept myself busy until I heard the chimes above the door.
Once they were gone, I walked back from the back and set to cleaning up what I had left. Once that was all done, I locked the doors. I turned off the lights and set the alarm before I left out the back door. I took a sharp breath and walked to my car. I got in, locked the doors, and once I was buckled and the car was started, I took out my phone and looked at any missed calls or texts.
I got one from my mom saying that Kaelynn was in bed. I read that and moved onto the next one. It was from an unknown number, like the one I had gotten before. I read it and deleted it and then tossed my phone into the passenger seat.
I was so over tonight.
