Her brain doesn't settle. She thought it would, wished for it, but silence doesn't follow. The entire journey home was filled with constant thoughts, her fight with Santana was supposed to cause a calmness within her. most fights resulted in that, but this one had the opposite affect.
She's running about her room emptying the boxes that had been waiting to be unpacked, waiting for the perfect moment to become useful. This was that moment.
Knocks can be heard on the opposite side of the hollow door, "Dinner's ready," he enters the room, his brown fringe slightly askew a few wispy hairs out of place, "never mind I'll tell mom you won't be joining us." The gap begins to close slowly stopping as a voice responds,
"what do you mean i won't be joining you?"
"well you are clearly high." he states matter of factly
"I'm not high!"
"could have fooled me," he begins to walk away only to be pulled back by the arm by his older sister,
"I said i'm not high."
"whatever. you just emptied every box in your room. you've been home for 30 minutes. if your not high, i'm not in witness protection," he winks sarcastically before shaking free and moving towards the smell of food.
What he says is true, those boxes have been sitting, begging to be unpacked but the idea of it bored her. the necessity of it caused her to procrastinate, every action she choose led to avoiding unpacking.
Yet all that avoidance failed her, here she was, the job completed.
she had been in this state before. when she was 8 years old and her brother had fallen ill with what she can't remember, some name she couldn't pronounce, an affliction that alluded her still young tongue.
Her bedroom floor was filled with dirty clothes and board games left open that should have been put away. A job that would have taken any adult an hour or two to clean up, and any child several. the constant distractions: it was understandable. She had every toy she could have wanted, and more. Yet when Quinn was told of her brothers problem, she cleaned, so fast it seemed almost inhuman.
To this day, when Quinn worried she cleaned. Everything and anything to distract her from the matter at hand.
She breaths in deeply, placing herself upon the newly made bed, before exhaling for longer than necessary.
Everything felt scattered, despite the room being in pristine condition.
they find her lying, face already bruised. the purple haze highlighted by the suns gentle beams. what happened to her, who would dare to take on Santana?
"Belle" escapes from her lips. she can't allow herself to entertain the idea that Quinn did this, but she knows in her gut that she has. she apologises to Brittany excusing herself just as Santana comes two. she can't bare to be in the same area when the unconscious girl awakens. fear of the blame being pushed onto her, of her blaming the actual culprit; "Quinn how could you?"
She walks swiftly; her ride home had been the girl in question, but the bus stop is a short walk. short usually, but her mind is bombarded by thoughts of how and why and how? Her steps are so monotonous that she ends up on that corner. The one where Quinn had protected her. How could this girl be the cause of such solace and yet the cause of such apprehension?
The journey home is more pre-cautious than usual. Upon seeing familiar roads her body practically sighs in relief as she finds herself finally at home walking up her family stairs only to be greeted by her fathers.
"Hey, i thought Belle was leaving you home?"
"I never heard her car pull up, or out. Did you sweetie?"
"No? Rachel?"
"Belle got sick. Took the bus," she lies blatantly. The lie falls from her mouth before she has a chance to form it properly. Usually her lies are so meticulous, full proof. This one was sloppy and well almost amateur. Can she really be blamed, her thoughts are miles away. Miiles away being located conveniently in the precise location of Quinn. Her thoughts recently always fell back to the blonde. She didn't like this reality, she needed to sleep. To dream of nicer things. A better now.
Sorry for the delay. Had a weird 2014. Three accidents so far, nothing major just a lot of rests between them.
Thanks for reading :)
