I took a drink of my beer, and breathed in the fresh air. I was sitting down by the lake behind my house. After dinner I finished putting all the lumber from Spencer in the fire pit for tomorrow night. It was a clear night, all the stars were out shining over the lake.
"The stars are so pretty tonight"
"Ya they are"
"You scared for tomorrow?" I shrugged at the question, tomorrow was just another day.
"Its just another day right?" she smiled, looking up at the stars.
"Ash its not another day, we are graduating high school" I looked over at her, her hair got longer over the past month.
"I'm not scared, are you?" she looked over at me.
"A little, after high school we have to face the real adult world" I laughed.
"You will do just fine Kyla, When are you applying to college?" I watched as she turned her head away, I shooked my head.
"Your staying back for him aren't you?" she couldn't look at me, she knows how I feel about the douche.
"Its just one more year Ash" I stayed silent, he always had to come first.
"Ashley, look at me" I turned my head and looked at her, she had a pout on her face.
"Stop that, it doesn't work kyla" she smiled and rested her head on my shoulder.
"Just go with it okay, for me?" I looked down at her, and rubbed her shoulder.
"Of course Ky, you know I'll always have you back"
I smiled at the memory, I looked down at my watch and noticed it was really late. I got up from sitting and started to walk back to the house. I stopped and turned back to the lake.
"I'm sorry Kyla" I put my head down and started to walk back home again, wiping the tear that has shed from my eye.
