Author's Note: *Slowly slides this chapter to my amazing readers as I cower in front of their multitude of death glares* X3
So, it's been almost two months since I last updated, and I must admit that I feel like a total douche right now v.v You guys deserve so much better than this T.T The main reason it took so long to get this out is that I'm a lazy, procrastinating jerk that completely takes all of my amazing fans for granted ;( *end pity party*
This chapter is kind of short unfortunately, but in my defense, it's better than nothing ;3 It's also less exciting compared to previous chapters, but I finally decided to explain something to you so I guess that's ok XD I PROMISE I will update sooner next chapter X3 If I don't you can... like... hit me with internet pies or something... Yeah. XD
Important: Instead of the fic challenge I mentioned last chapter, I will instead be holding a fanart contest because it takes much less time to host :) Basically, I want anyone who's an artist, whether by drawing or photo editing, to create a new cover picture for this story ;3 I will be sure to credit the winner, and I will be sure to mention each of the artists with a link to their art in the next chapter after the contest ends. So basically, you have until May 9 to complete your art and submit via review or PM. :) Happy... arting? XS

"This book, what is it?" She demanded, pulling out the book she had been keeping on her person since they left the guild hall, showing it to the man.
He glanced at the leather bound object before giving a smile, "I figured you would be back to ask me. That book allows one to find their true destiny when they would otherwise never find it. When ones fate rests within our world, the book won't do anything for them. However, if you are someone like you and I, than it is in your destiny to one day find the book, and thus find your fate." He explained, ignoring the confused looks that most of the wizards gave him as he focused on Erza, who seemed to be thinking deeply on the topic.
"You're saying that I was predestined to meet Kakashi?" She questioned, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. If that was the case, was she also destined to move to Konoha and leave her guild behind? That just couldn't be right.
"If that's what happened when you picked up the book, then yes. You were destined to come to my shop that day and pick it up, and Kakashi was also destined to meet you once you were transported to his world." The old man attempted to explain this in a way that the others would find easy to believe, but was almost not surprised when he noticed the various levels of incredulity he was receiving.
Eyebrows furrowed, Erza spoke once more, "As much as I doubt the idea of destiny causing me to meet Kakashi, I also can't believe that this is all it does. Why would Natalia want this book so badly if that was its only purpose?"
Salgado gave a sad sort of sigh as he replied, "Natalia was a romantic. She heard the stories over and over about how her mother and I met, so as a child she dreamed of one day finding her own soulmate by using the book… However, it didn't work for her no matter how many times she tried to force it. Her fate didn't rest in a separate world, and that made her angry. Who wouldn't be a little upset to find that their dreams were impossible? So she set her sights instead on unraveling the secret behind the books magic, and destroying it if she couldn't. After all, if she couldn't be happy, no one else should get the chance. I tried to convince her otherwise, but she was stubborn. Hearing that it had worked on someone else infuriated her beyond belief and she began to accuse me of keeping the true secret of the book from her. I truly wished for her dream to come true, but no matter how much I wish, destiny can't change."
Kakashi felt his eye twitch as he listened to the man drone on about 'destiny this' and 'destiny that', and couldn't help but be reminded of Gai's more serious student, Neji. It wasn't destiny that made him grow to care for Erza, or was it? He couldn't deny that the circumstances seemed to be too perfect, but that doesn't mean the future is written in stone.
Erza's thoughts were along the same lines, and she was so busy trying to comprehend what all of it meant that she almost forgot the most pressing question. "If we wanted to send Kakashi back to his world, how would we do it?" she asked, crossing her arms almost intimidating as she demanded an immediate answer.
"That's simple, just give him the book while he pictures his home. Though, are you sure that's what he wants to do?" the man questioned, his gaze moving to look at Kakashi.
Blinking in surprise, it took the ninja a moment to answer, "Of course it's what I want. My village needs me… I can't just abandon them. I would prefer if Erza were coming with me, of course, but I know now that her guild needs her just as much." He explained, bowing his head slightly.
Attempting to hide her blush at his statement, Erza cleared her throat and bowed her own head, "Thank you very much, sir. I appreciate you answering our questions."
When she looked back up, it confused her to find the old man looking at them with an amused expression. "You realize that you aren't required to choose one world? The book acts as a doorway between worlds, and a door can be opened at any time as you well know." he pointed out, an eyebrow raised as he smiled knowingly.
The ninja and the wizard seemed to freeze at this news, the wheels turning in both of their brains as they absorbed this new information, not moving for several seconds as they both wondered how they hadn't seen it sooner. It was so obvious, it was almost comical.
"So… We can see each other, whenever we wish?" Kakashi questioned slowly, silently deliberating with whether or not this was true or simply a cruel prank.
Salgado nodded in agreement, "Yes. I don't know where you got the idea that it was simply a one way ticket. I can remember how my wife and I used to continuously visit each other while we were younger, exchanging between this world and my own. Whoever had the book would travel every few days, sometimes every other week, just so we could see each other while still making sure to care for our own families and friends. It wasn't until we were much older that I finally decided to come here and start a family, and I can honestly say that I haven't regretted my decision once. Of course, now that's she's gone I almost wish I could go back to be with what remains of my friends and family, but it's too late for that now. Now all I can do is encourage you two to never give up, because if you can stick through it, you'll be happier than you ever thought possible." With that the man grinned widely, showing where he was missing various teeth.
Glancing once at each other as a small smile graced each of their faces, Erza and Kakashi couldn't stop the tiny flare of hope that flared up at Salgado's words. They could work out the details once they returned to the guild hall, but a silent understanding passed between them as they both silently decided that this would be worth a shot.
"Again… Thank you Salgado. You're words… they truly helped me, and I'm very grateful to everything you've done. We will escort you back to your home to make sure you are safe, and if you ever run into trouble, don't hesitate to call on Fairy Tail." She added, seeming to ooze happiness as the others all cheered in agreement.
You could say the walk back was uneventful, but Lucy and Wendy would argue until you were almost forced to give up. Why? Well, the entire trip back they spent the entire time giggling over how Kakashi and Erza walked side by side the whole way, the backs of their hands brushing as they exchanged only quiet words, the two girls only growing more excited whenever the red-head would laugh or blush at something the ninja had said.
