chapter 8

A/N I am so so sorry that has taken me so long to get the next chapter up. I promise you I am not dead. I have just had a lot going on lately, I have to deal with my first year at high school and I got a boyfriend so I have been really busy with him. I have also had writers block for the longest time, but I promise I have not forgotten about all my lovely readers. I promised JMCP that I would get another chapter up this month so here it is the next chapter to And the truth comes out

You could hear the gears turning in Danny's head. He couldn't put it together. Of all the people Steve could think of he thought of him, not his girlfriend or his mother but him. Did that mean Steve trusted him more than he though he did? If it did they were having a serious talk if they… no, when they found him.

Cathryn was seriously contemplating if she heard Steve right. If what she heard was right then that would mean that Steve trusted Daniel Williams more than her, his own girlfriend. Don't get me wrong it's great that Steve has someone he can actually trust, but I'm his girlfriend. I have known him a lot longer than Danny, but now it seems as if she was nothing, nothing but the third wheel in their little group.

He could no longer hear the laughter; did his plea work or was it just a figment of his imagination? He was quite happy for the fact that the voices have stopped but now it was quieter than it was before. The darkness and the silence together was taking hold and choking him. His breathing was coming out in short fast gulps of air. Which way was up,which way was down. He couldn't tell whether it was day or night. All that he knew was that no matter which way he looked all he could see was nothing but the darkness of the black hole that surrounds him.

He tried to think of his Danno but there was something there that stopped his mind from the thought. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't get any more information on who or what Danno was.

"He's not coming, he's not even real! Why do you put yourself through this, stop being a child and grow up for once. No one cares that little Steven is missing! They're relieved that you're gone! If you ever thought that you meant something in this world, you were wrong!"

"NO! You're wrong! Mommy cares and so does Daddy they've always cared about me. They're looking for me right now, you'll see! They're probably on there way now to come and get me. I don't have to listen to you you're only in my head,and Mommy and Daddy always told me to ignore what you said because you don't exist!"

"Do you really believe that?! I was your only friend in school! All the other kids thought you were a freak! How dare you say I don't exist, I helped you through everything! Since you clearly don't need me why don't I leave then?!"

"NO! Don't leave! Your my friend... no wait, you don't exist get out of my head, leave me alone! Go aw... STOP, NO DON'T GO! I DON'T KNOW WHY I SAID THAT! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE!"

"Too late kid you've screwed up pretty royally with your words now! Maybe you should learn to think before you say something! That's why 'Mommy' and 'Daddy' aren't coming for you! No one wants a spoiled and selfish brat! I hope Danno keeps you company now because you're never leaving this hell hole!"

"COME BACK! I'M SORRY! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME IN THE DARK! DANNO I NEED YOU! WHERE ARE YOU!"

You could tell by the look on everyone's faces that they were all thinking of the same thing. None of them could figure out how Steve could remember Danno when it seems he has forgotten everything else. Neither Doris, Chin, or Kono wanted to break the silence that had suddenly surrounded them, they were worried for if they broke the silence what would happen. They didn't know what either Danny or Cathryn would say, they weren't sure if Cathryn would get mad or break down.

Chin was about to say something when he heard talking coming from the black screen of his computer. When he turned to get the attention of the rest of the group he saw that they were already looking at the computer.

"Who is Steve talking to, and why does he sound as if he's a five year old?" asked Danny

"He snap's out of it for a second but then goes right back to how he was before," exclaims Kono

"Doris or Cathryn do you know why he's acting like this and do you have any idea who he's talking to?" asked Chin

"I have no idea, I've never seen this side of him before," exclaimed Cathryn

With that said four set of eyes turned to look at Doris

Doris sighed, "when Steve was younger he had an imaginary friend as he called it who supposedly talked to him when he was in trouble. Some of the kids in his class were afraid of him and some thought he was a freak because he would always be sitting in a corner talking to no one but himself. His 'friend' started telling him that no one knew what he was going through and that he should leave; a week after he started saying he was going to run away. We weren't sure why he was saying this so his father and I sat him down and had him explain to us what was wrong. After a few minutes of pushing him to tell us what was wrong he broke down crying and told us his 'imaginary friend' told him that no cared about him and that we were planning on sending him away. After an hour of convincing him that we would never send him away he finally listened to us when we told him that this imaginary friend of his didn't exist and that he should ignore him."

"So what you're saying is that because he is feeling alone and probably frightened he started to think of his 'imaginary friend' and going back to when he was younger?" asked Danny

"I believe so, yes. I'm guessing that since his father and I told him to not listen to the voice he remembered that and he defended himself and since ,when he was younger he really believed that said voice was real, he believes that the voice has really left him," replied Doris

"So now that the voice inside Steve's head has supposedly left him he is starting to rely on his Danno even more now. Which means that we now need to find him even faster now or he may lose his sanity," commented Chin

"Then why are we sitting around here, we should be up and searching for evidence, clues, or even suspects! Chin you could be tracking the signal to see if you could find something, Danny you should be on the phone with HPD to get every available unit they have out there looking for him! Cathryn you could be using your knowledge of how to use the satellites to help search for Steve, and Doris you could be contacting Joe White to get him and some of his seal buddies helping us with the search for Steve!" yelled Kono

Doris, Chin, Danny, and Cathryn all stared at Kono in complete shock; of all people in the group Kono was the last one they would have expected that to come from. No one knew what to say to her,they could tell that she was adamant on all of this and having everyone looking for their boss/boyfriend/son.

"Kono don't you remember I'm on my leave right now so I can't use any of the equipment on board the ship," reminded Cathryn

"I have had no contact with Joe for a couple months now, I don't know even know where he is," explained Doris

"Kono you know I'm trying to track the signal but I've had no luck in doing so. I will not stop working with the signal until Steve is found I promise," replied Chin

"Come on babe you know that all of HPD is helping us with this case but they have their own work they need to get done as well, so for most of this case its going to be only us looking for him. You know were all trying our best to find him, were all worried and scared to death on what might happen, but you know what, we're not going to stop looking until we find him. We know for sure that he's still on the island, he's only been given six shots, and that he has four more to go. All we need is to keep our hopes up that Scott will stop speeding up the process. Once we find both Steven and Scott there will be no way that Scott will ever see the light of day again," said Danny

"I know but I'm just worried for him. If it wasn't for him…" before Kono could finish what she was going to say she fell to the floor sobbing. Cathryn knelt down beside Kono and started to cry along with her knowing that they all had the same feelings about what was happening. Danny and Chin joined the two crying women on the floor to give them a hug but as they were hugging the two men finally let their tears fall not caring any more who saw them cry. The only one who was not apart of the group hug was Doris, she stayed sat in the chair ,with tears running down her face, looking at the group of amazing people her son had met and gotten to know over the years.
