Nightmares
She ran with all her might. Tears streaming down her rough skin washing away some of the blood on her cheeks. Her steps echoed as if it was a giant running. Her long scarlet hair was tied up in a high ponytail swinging back and forth violently with each step. Some loose strands escaped the out of the hair tie, it clung to her sweaty skin.
Her heart was beating in fear. The sky above her was covered in dark thundering clouds. The metallic smell of blood attempted to choke her. The mangled bodies she destroyed laid scattered on the cool wet ground. The bodies attempted to slow her down, but she couldn't.
She needed to make it. She had to get to him, before it was too late.
She passed her victims on the ground uncaring as she jumped over their bodies. Her legs burned begging her to stop. But she couldn't.
She had to make it.
He needs her.
She can't lose him.
Not, now. Not ever.
As if fate was hearing her pleas, he appeared in front of her. Relief spread throughout the Scarlet woman. She stopped abruptly just a few feet behind him. Breathing heavily, she stared at his back. A small smile of relief spread across her face. She is not too late. She made it to him.
"Jellal?" She let out in a whisper. The scarlet woman took a slow step forward towards the blue haired man. "Don't do this! Please! I beg you." He didn't turn around at all or even say anything. The Scarlet woman stepped closer. Her heart picked up in fear. He couldn't have, could he? "I will forgive you! I will always forgive you. Please, Jellal don't do what I think you are going to do. If you feel anything towards me. Please, Jellal." She sobbed.
She kept stepping closer to him whispering her pleas to him. Begging him to turn towards her. She needed to see him. She needed to be proven. This feeling she is having now. She whispered out a soft please towards the man she loves.
"It is too late, Erza." His soft husky voice whispered out in horror. She let out gasp in shock as she brought her hand up to her mouth. Betrayal filled her dark eyes as fresh tears escapes yet again. It had to be a lie. She begged for him to tell her it was a lie. "I'm soo sorry, Erza. I couldn't save him. I tried so much. But. But." He then turned around revealing much to her horror his face. Grief stricken guilty eyes stared at her while frosting cover his mouth. "I was so hungry." Jellal dropped to his knees. He stared at his hands in horror. "I ate the last strawberry cake in the world. I told you I would protect it with my life. I told you that I would wait for you to eat together, but I couldn't wait anymore."
"No. Tell me it is a lie, Jellal. Please tell me it is a lie." She begged as she dropped to the floor right in front of him. She lifted her shaking hands to his face making him look into her tear filled eyes. "It's a lie? After all we have been through. The countless enemies I destroyed in order to save him. cake. It is all a lie. You saved him for me."
"I'm so sorry, Erza. I deserve the most painful punishment in the world. I don't deserve you. There is not even a crumb left." Jellal sobbed out in sorrow into his hands.
Tears went down Erza's eyes. She stared at Jellal in betrayal. The frosting around his mouth tormented her as if taunting her that she will never get to taste the delicious taste of Strawberry cake. Filled with an incredible amount of sorrow, Erza leaned her body back towards the sky screaming at the top of her lungs. "Nooo!" She screamed in agony to the darkened sky.
"No!" Erza gasped out sitting up from her bed. Her heart racing in fear as she stared wide eyed at the darkened room. Her vision slowly adjusted to the dark surroundings. "A dream?" Erza whispered out. She slowly lifted a hand to her face to feel her cheeks wet from the tears she cried in her sleep.
"Erza?" Jellal let out in a sleepy voice. Erza turned her head in confusion to see him sitting down on the bed next to her. The bottom half of his body was covered buy their shared quilt. He was leaning back on hands. He was close enough to her that she could feel his body head. His eyes looked at her in worry as his blue haired was tousled in a messy way on his head. "What's wrong?" He breathed out placing his hand softly on her cheek to wipe her tears. Erza closed her eyes leaning into his hand letting his touch calm down. "A nightmare?" She nodded. "Want to tell me about it?"
"I don't think I can?" Erza breathed out.
"That bad?" She nodded again letting out a soft whimper. Jellal's eyes softened. "Come here."
Without a second of hesitation, Erza crawled onto the blunette man's lap. He wrapped his muscled arms securely around the sniffing woman. He can feel her tears wet his shirt. He wondered what kind of nightmare the every so strong woman had in order to make her cry like this. It must have been bad.
"You. Killed him." Jellal froze upon hearing her soft whispers. Who did he kill? Oh no, does she regret forgiving him for all the bad he has done. He knew he never should have stayed with her. He knew he could never be completely forgiven for all his sins. Jellal felt his chest squeeze in pain as he looked down at the crying woman in his arms whispering to herself. "You killed him. You killed him." He tightened his hold on Erza squeezing her to him. Jellal shut his eyes tightly as he whispered his apologies to his lover. A silent tear slipped down his cheeks. "You killed him. You said you would protect him with your life."
"I'm so sorry." Jellal breathed out to her. He mind went over everything he has done trying to remember the man he said he was going to protect, but ended up killing. Tears streamed down his cheeks in frustration as he couldn't remember. "I'm so sorry, Erza. I cannot seem-"
"You ate him."
Jellal immediately stopped. His eyes snapped open in confusion. He looked down at the scarlet woman with a weird look. He ate him?
"You betrayed me and ate him."
"I do not understand?" Jellal let out completely confused now.
Erza pulled away from Jellal so she can look up at him. Her dark eyes stared at him with an accusing stare. Her bottom lip came out in a soft pout. This side of her was only shown to him. None else seen her like this and it made the blue haired man love her even more.
"You ate him." Erza let out.
"Ate who, Erza?"
"Mr. Strawberry Cake. He was the last of his kind and you ate him."
Silence.
Jellal looked down at the woman in his arms in shock. She seriously had a nightmare about him eating a cake. She cried like a child for a cake. A loving smile to spread softly on his lips as his eyes sparkled in amusement. Erza stared at him in annoyance as she huffed.
"I'm glad I amuse you." Erza hissed. The scarlet woman immediately pulled away from Jellal getting up from the bed. "I never should have told you."
"I was not laughing at you, Erza." Jellal breathed out. Erza crossed her arms over her ample chest lifting a scarlet eyebrow at him. Jellal got up from the bed running his hand through his blue hair. "I would never laugh at you."
"You were about to. I saw it in your eyes."
"No." Jellal shook his head. He walked up to Erza with a loving gaze. He softly placed his hands on her waist. "I was not going to laugh at you Erza." He smiled soft at her. The same loving gaze that was in his eyes seemed to reflect in hers as she stared at him. "I was thinking about how much I love you. You wake up in the middle of the night screaming with tears. I believed you have still not forgiven me completely for my sins when you said I 'killed' him." Erza instantly felt guiltly. Her eyes softened as she loosened her arms. She opened her mouth to tell him her apologies, but Jellal immediately cut her off. "When you said I ate him, you can imagine my confusion. I don't remember turning into a cannibal." Erza snorted. She smiled at Jellal as amusement filled her eyes. "Only you would have a nightmare about cake."
The couple let out a soft laugh as they held each other. A soft blush shaded Erza's cheeks as she felt slightly embarrassed. She couldn't believe that she had a nightmare about cake and told him. She even blamed him for eating the last strawberry cake in the world. He saw her cry about it to.
"Sorry." Erza whispered out softly looking down.
"You do not need to apologize." Jellal whispered. He used his right hand to slowly lift Erza's head up to look at him. He smiled down at her. "No matter what nightmare you have. No matter what scary dreams you may see. No matter how silly it may sound or how ridiculous it is. Know I am here for you. I will hold you until you calm down. I will laugh with you until you see reality. And I will love you no matter what." Leaning down, Jellal captured Erza's lips into a soft savoring kiss. All too soon he pulled away. He let out a soft chuckle as he noticed Erza's face turn about 10 shades darker in embarrassment. "You want to go to the guild and get some cake."
"I-It's late." Erza stuttered.
"It's Fairy Tail." Jellal simply stated.
Erza chuckled agreeing to his statement. Knowing her guild mates, they are either passed out on the floor or still drinking. Or even fighting knowing Natsu and Gray. When she left them earlier in the afternoon, she remembers they were in the middle of one of their guild brawls. She was about to put them all in their place at the time, but Jellal convinced her to ignore them and go home to rest.
Erza stared at the blue haired man holding her in his arms.
The best decision she has ever made is right in front of her. The greatest key to her happiness is him. Lifting her hand, she softly traced the beautiful tattoo over his eye. The nightmare from earlier is long gone. It was just a silly dream to her now. If it was anyone else, they would immediately have made fun of the scarlet mage for her nightmare. But not him, this man in front of her accepted her. Strangeness and all.
In fact, he loved her more because of it.
And she loved him no matter what he has done. No matter all the sins he has committed.
The nightmares of life are all but silly dreams with him by her side.

"We shouldn't be here, Happy." Lily let out nervously.
The black exceed walked behind the blue exceed nervously. Lily had a bad feeling about this down to the pit of his stomach. They shouldn't be here. They aren't allowed to be here. She will kill them. Why did he agree to come? Oh right, because the blue haired companion to the fire dragonslayer promised him endless supplies of Kiwi.
"Natsu said that it is around here some where." Happy let out jumping on top of a tall desk with Lily close behind. The blue exceed used his small paws to move the contents around the desk trying to find something. "He said it was on her desk."
"Just hurry up so we can leave. I feel like she is going to come any second." Lily hissed. He kept glancing at the door as if expecting her to slam it open and walk in. Then just as if fate was against them, the black exceed's ears picked up a sound just down the hallway. It sounded like high heels slamming against the ground in steps. It was coming towards them. It was getting close. "Happy, we need to leave. She is coming."
"Lily, you need to see this."
"Happy now is not the time to...Is this what I think this is?"
"Mira has been planning this all this time!"
"We need to tell the guild. This is ...This is..."
"Well, Well, well. You cat's got a little to curious, I wonder how many lives you'll have left once I'm done with you."
