I walked into the police station and immediatley spotted Derek and Chris sitting handcuffed to the bench. I looked questioningly at Derek and walked into my father's office.
"Why the hell is my boyfriend in handcuffs?" I demanded.
"He is a suspect in a murder for someone by the name of Silverfinger." Jake said. Before I could open my mouth, he raised his hand to silence me. "They're being exnorated."
"Good. I mean, do you seriously think he's a murderer?" Jake just glared at me and walked out of his office to unhandcuff Chris and Derek.
"Callana, show them to the front desk to get their belongings. I have to fill out their paperwork." I led them to the front desk and got out the boxes that contained their stuff.
"Parrish, start inventoring this." Parrish got up from his desk and went through the boxes to make sure everything was there. He handed Chris and Derek their wallets and keys but when he pulled out the cattle prod, he stopped to look at the ampage and inspect it.
"Sorry, but I can't let you walk out with this." Parrish said. "It's way above the legal voltage limit."
"I only use it for hunting." Chris assured him. Derek and I looked at him with the expression that we knew exactly what kind of hunting he uses it for.
"Yeah, well I'm pretty sure you can use it to jump-start a 747."
"This property belongs to me and the charges were dropped."
"I'll take care of this, Parrish." Jake said approaching the desk.
"Sheriff, I'm not kidding." Parrish said. "This thing is a few watts from being a lightsaber."
"Hurts like a lightsaber." I muttered.
"What was that, Calla?" I cleared my throat and shook my head.
"Oh, nothing. Nothing. Nothing at all." Jake took the cattle prod from Parrish.
"I said I'll take care of it." Jake assured him before ushing the three of us back to his office where the deputy was waiting for us. Jake walked around his desk to sit down as we waited for the deputy to speak.
"The specialist I saw in LA told me the thing that every doctor says when they're trying to avoid a lawsuit." Deputy began. "We can't say for sure. And then I spoke with Melissa. These are brain scans." He held up two x-rays of brains. "My wife's and Stiles'. I knew they were similar. But those are the same. Exactly the same."
"I'm guessing that this isn't possible." Derek guessed.
"Not even remotely." I muttered, taking the brain scans from the deputy to examine them.
"Well, the trickster is still playing tricks." Chris said.
"But why this trick?" Derek inquired.
"When I was in the army, an officer told me, if you want to defeat your enemy, you don't take away their courage." Jake stated. "You take away their hope."
"You don't look like your a man who gives up hope easily." Chris said.
"But Stiles might." Deputy added. "If this thing inside him, if it's using his mother's disease as some sort of psychological trick, then this isn't just a fight for his body. It's also a fight for his mind. Right?"
"You know, he's left people severly injured." Chris informed him.
"And others severly dead." Derek added.
"That's why I need the two of you. I need people who are experience in this kind of thing. I need you to help me stop him."
"And by stop him, you mean trap him." Chris said.
TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
"This is everything non-lethal I could find." Allison said as she lead us through the pent house and into Chris's office where there were weapons laying out on the oak desk.
"Take all of it." Chris ordered.
"What's the plan here?" Deputy asked.
"Well our best shot now is for Calla and Derek to try to pick up Stiles' scent at Eichen House. Exspecially if he went through something stressful there."
"Should all four of us be going to the same place?"
"Where else has Stiles been showing up?"
"The school." Allison answered.
"Hospital." I added.
"Okay, hold on." Derek objected. "We did this already. He disappeared, we started looking for him. Then walked right into a trap at the hospital."
"He's getting us to repeat the same moves." I concluded.
"So what do we do?" Allison asked. "Wait for him to come to us?"
"We can't." Derek said. "Not if the Oni find him when the sun goes down."
"Scott's working on them right now, with Kira." Deputy mentioned.
"That's the problem." Chris said. "We're all trying to outfox the fox." We all hung our heads trying to figure out what to do next.
"Listen. I'll understand if anyone wants to back out."
"I'm not going to be the first wolf to run from a fox." I snapped.
"Apparently I'm carrying a lightsaber." Chris laughed.
"Dad, you, Calla and Derek hit Eichen House." Allison ordered. "Sheriff, you and I will take the hospital. We all meet in the school."
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The deputy called us saying that the nogitsune was back in Stiles' room but the time we all got there, he was already gone. We looked around to see if anything was out of place and found Stiles' chess board out with a bunch of sticky notes on the pieces. We got closer and saw that there were names on the sticky notes. Jackson, Kate, Argent, Isaac, Peter, Allison, Scott and Deaton with Aiden, Ethan and me surrounding Derek's piece.
"What is all this?" Chris asked. "What are these sticky notes for?"
"This is what Stiles used to try and explain to me about all of you." Deputy explained.
"Well, maybe it's a message from Stiles." Allison suggested. "The real stiles."
"You think there's any reason my name's on the king?" Derek asked.
"Well, you're heavily guarded." Deputy said. "I guess the alarming detail is, you're one move from being in checkmate."
"It's not a message from Stiles." I growled. "It's a threat from the nogitsune."
"He's at the loft, that's what he's trying to tell us." Allison said.
"And he wants us to come there."
"Night's falling." Derek stated.
"It's sounding more like a trap." Chris said.
"I don't think it's a trap." Deputy objected.
"I think you're opinion might be slightly biased, Deputy."
"Hear me out. What we're dealing with is someone who basically lacks motive. No rhyme, no reason, right?"
"Meaning what?"
"Our enemy is not a killer. It's a trickster. The killing is just a by product."
"If you're trying to say it won't kill us, I'm not feeling too confident about that." Derek retorted.
"It won't. It wants irony. It wants to play a trick. It wants a joke. All we need to do is come up with a new punchline."
"The sun is setting, Deputy." Chris said. "What did you have in mind?"
