Chapter .1.
"I need to see Clara Oswald", the Doctor says into the com to Clara's apartment
"Come right up Doctor", Clara says through the speakers trembling
The door opens and the Doctor wonders was there hesitation in Clara's voice? The Doctor went up to her apartment and knocked. He didn't hear no footsteps approaching the door. It opened a little and the Doctor could see Clara in one of those wheelchairs.
"Can I come in or is PE home?" the Doctor asks
The Doctor watches Clara reach up and undo the chain. Not once getting up out of the wheelchair. The door opens and he notices the change in her apartment. Everything was down lower for her to reach.
"Tea Doctor? I am sure I still got your favourite here somewhere", Clara says wheeling herself into the kitchen
The Doctor's eyes was watching her but also searching the apartment. There didn't seem to be a trace of PE.
"Yes Tea will be fine Clara", the Doctor says
The Doctor watched her reach for the cabinet and manage to pull out his favourite tea. After all this time she still had it.
"So Clara what have you been doing?" The Doctor asks
"I am still teaching the same. Only things have slightly changed", Clara says setting his tea in front of him
"No PE? I don't see his things around the apartment", the Doctor says
"To be honest I lied Doctor Danny never came back for me. No matter how much I begged", Clara says
"I see you wore the bracelet so how can he not be back?" the Doctor asks
"He sent a boy home who he accidently killed in Afghanistan. Kate helped me find his parents. He is back home with them now. I lied because you had found Gallifrey and were so happy", Clara says
The Doctor sighs. Clara had been alone but how long? How long had he been moping about Gallifrey?
"How long have I been gone Clara?" the Doctor asks
"Over a year", Clara says
"Clara I lied too. Missy coordinates never lead me to Gallifrey. I thought you were happy so I didn't return and lied to you too", the Doctor says
"What a pair we are", Clara says
"Clara why exactly are you in a wheelchair?" the Doctor asks
"I was hit by a car. When I left you. I am a paraplegic. I can't feel anything below my waist. But at least I can still go to the toilet by myself. It is just not using my legs that was the difficult part in the beginning. That and I thought my life would never be the same well it kind of is. But not as before", Clara says softly
"Can I scan you?" the Doctor asks with his sonic out
"Sure. Nothing you are going to find", Clara says
The Doctor scans Clara. And covers his surprise.
"T9 to T12 crushed rod and steel plates put in but you didn't get not movement back?" the Doctor asks
"It was a long shot that surgery. As you see it never worked", Clara says bitterly
"What do you do with your life? You said it was still basically the same", the Doctor says
"Well someone from work comes to pick me up in their car and take me back home because I cannot drive myself. Neighbours do the grocery shopping with me and carry the bags in. Stuff like that. I can't get out in the snow without assistance on those days my 'helpers' have to push me around especially if the snow is too thick. I would just tire myself out with trying. Even now with my arm muscles strong I would still do it", Clara says
"What about travelling Clara?" the Doctor asks
"How can I? I am paralysed! I can't go a day without help from someone. So Doctor you should leave. I want you to find a companion that will have advantages with you. See the universe. Because I physically can't anymore. I can't even step into the TARDIS anymore! So please Doctor just go leave me to live out the rest of my life here", Clara says tears in her eyes
"Tell me Clara is that want you really want? I can see it in your eyes you don't mean it", the Doctor says gently for him
"What else is there? I can't move my legs Doctor! I am useless. So leave me now before it gets harder", Clara says, "Before you see the weak Clara Oswald"
"Clara you are not weak. I will find a way to show you that. And there will never be another companion until your dying day", the Doctor says, "Anyway your more than a companion your my best friend. Also the impossible girl I lo…"
"Don't say it. I can't cope with it. Please Doctor just leave me", Clara says wheeling herself to the bedroom and slamming the door
The Doctor could hear her sobbing. The Doctor looked under a pill of dusty books where 101 places to see before you die now was. Pages had been crossed out oversalty in anger and in pain of not being able to move her legs. The Doctor decided he was going to make Clara's life better. This was his Clara a girl who died a thousand deaths for him. Picking up the book he had made his decision.
"Clara I will be back tomorrow at 10am please be ready. I am going to have a surprise for you", the Doctor says knocking on her bedroom door
"No surprise can make this better", he heard Clara say
"It is time I showed you what you truly mean to me. Clara be ready at 10am. I will be on time for this I promise", the Doctor says
"Just go", Clara says
"I will go but like I said I will be back tomorrow. Get some rest", the Doctor says leaving the apartment making sure he locked the door behind him
The Doctor goes to his TARDIS and programs the best hospital in the universe into it. What a mess he had made. Only if he had stayed with her had she might not have had the accident. Once he was there he gets out with a sigh. He was going to see the spark in Clara's eyes again. The same eyes that he knew had always loved him. He was only bitter about not being able to have a normal life with anyone. But Clara was different she had always been there for him. Now he would be there for her till the end of days. What he didn't tell Clara about the sonic scan was that she was a Time Lady. All the Doctor could think about how she came that way? But all he had come up with was the Time Vortex did something to Clara. Clara would never regenerate but she would stay the same for as long as he lived even after he regenerated. It seemed the universe had given him an award.
With the plans he had he needed help of an old friend. Friend might he a stretch. But still the Doctor pulled out his phone and dialled the number.
"Jack Harkness speaking", Jack says
"Jack it is the Doctor", the Doctor says
"Well what can I do for you? You want to know something I married! Remember Donna Noble well she is my wife. Trust me you don't want to be near her she remembers everything and she is pissed", Jack says
"How did her memories not kill her?" the Doctor asks
"Don't know. So why did you call Doc or when did you call from?" Jack asks
"I need help. You and Donna want an invitation onto the TARDIS full time? I have a companion that I need to help", the Doctor says
"Tell me what happened Doc", Jack says
The Doctor does and what he was planning.
"Well I think Donna and I will be in. Clara sounds like an interesting person. But Doc she doesn't blame you for the accident. I should know. I became immortal. Lucky Donna is a Time Lady and will stay with me for a while", Jack says
"Jack, Donna is not a Time Lady", the Doctor says
"She is. Martha you remember her? Confirmed it. In fact do you want Martha and Mickey in on this? Martha is a Doctor", Jack says
"If they want. I think Clara needs people around her that care. Use your Vortex Manipulator I am in the year…", the Doctor gives Jack the details
"Will do boss. You won't regret this. Maybe after Donna slaps you", Jack says chuckling
The Doctor just hangs up not wanting to be laugh at anymore. The Doctor goes out of the TARDIS and into the hospital.
"I need to see someone about advice about a paraplegic friend of mine and what I can offer her", the Doctor says
"Of course. Doctor Mason is available to talk he knows spinal injuries", the nurse says
"Hello I am Doctor Mason and you are?" Dr Mason asks
"Just the Doctor", the Doctor says
"You're the one to save our world. Well this is an honour. What do you want to know?" Dr Mason asks
The Doctor tells Dr Mason all of what he knew about Clara's case.
"She will need lots of support. If you don't pick up regeneration energy within her she will be stuck with this for the rest of her life and I know Time Lords have a long life span. How many people will be supporting her?"
"5", the Doctor says
"You might want more. She sounds like she is still coming to terms with this. So more people making her feel normal as possible would be better", Dr Mason says
"What else?" the Doctor asks
Once the Doctor had all his information he walks back to the TARDIS where Jack, Donna, Martha and Mickey were waiting. Donna storms up to him and slaps him.
"How dare you take my memories?! Don't ever do that again!" Donna yells
"I won't do it again. I promise and I am sure Jack will try and kill me if I did", the Doctor says
"Let's get in the TARDIS before we attract too much attention", Mickey suggests
The Doctor opens the door to find the TARDIS different. It had changed itself.
"Thank you old girl", the Doctor says to the TARDIS which hums
"Sweetie", River says
"River but?" the Doctor says
"I am only a hologram. I am programed into the TARDIS. It took a lot of time for me to achieve but I did it. I am the daughter of the TARDIS and Amelia Pond", River says
"River do you know…?" the Doctor asks
"Yes. I am happy you moved on. But from what the TARDIS knows about Clara she will need more help then you 5 and me as a hologram that she can talk too. I know of a way for you to get my parents", River says
"River it will cause a paradox", the Doctor says
"This plan won't. Jack will take his Vortex Manipulator and go to my parents house in the 1930's. He will carry a letter from you. The Vortex Manipulator will not set off the paradox. Jack can give them time to pack then bring them back here with the vortex manipulator", River says
"Still paradox", the Doctor says
"Not if Jack has a few words to some people he knows in that time to put up fake graves when the graves we saw happened. Who said there had to be bodies in the grave?" River says
"That could work. Jack are you willing to do this?" the Doctor asks
"Yes. I looked into the black achieve and know who Amelia Pond is. I can get all of it done in a couple of days. But in a couple of hours for you your time. So where is this letter?" Jack asks
The Doctor writes a letter and gives it too Jack who disappears.
"Now everyone I need your help fixing parts to the TARDIS it didn't think off", the Doctor says, "I have a list"
"Well lets get to work", Donna says, "But spaceman you will be taking us to earth to get some female products for Clara"
"Um oh right", the Doctor says embarrassed
"Don't worry you don't need to come in with us", Martha says
Mickey laughs at the Doctor's embarrassment.
"Stop it Mickey or you will come", Martha threatens
"Got it", Mickey says, "So what needs to be done?"
Jack arrives with Amy and Rory an hour later. They had their adopted son Anthony. Amy was quite happy the Doctor was Scottish even if she said it will take some time to get used too. The Doctor gave her a quick hug before telling her he didn't like hugs that much in this body. Amy said tough he was going to have to get used to it.
"Sweetie you're a father you have to pick up your son and daughter. They are waiting for you in the Library. I told them to wait there for you. They are about 8 years old at the moment. But their big sister is with them", River says
"Why didn't you tell me? And what big sister?" the Doctor asks
"Spoilers. I think I might go wounder the TARDIS and see if anything else needs doing", River says
"Going to the Library", the Doctor says the TARDIS moves
As the Doctor went to pick up their three more of their family. The others got to work. The Doctor was back in half an hour with one girl and one boy and a teenage girl.
"Hi I am Jenny", Jenny says
"Jenny your alive?" Martha and Donna exclaim and go and hug her
"Yes. And I am in perfect health", Jenny says smiling
"These are my children from River. Amelia Lyrics Song and Brian Rory Song. I have told them about the situation and they want to help", the Doctor says, "Amelia, Brian these are your grandparents Amy and Rory Pond"
"Williams", Rory corrects as Amy hugs her grandchildren
"Ok now we have stuff to get. I need to be on time to pick up Clara", the Doctor says
"Don't worry she will love the changes", Amy says
"I hope I can get the spark back in her eyes", the Doctor says
"You will", Martha says
