Chapter 4

15 September 2011

"How is she so much faster than me even though she is slower?!" Wally shouts as he wipes another set of diagrams from his whiteboard.
"Wally dear. I've brought you some sandwiches for lunch." Wally's mother says before opening the door.
"Mom!" he shouts as he flips the board over in a panic.
"Sorry dear. What are you up to?"
"It's none of your business mom. Please leave the sandwiches and leave me to work in peace.
"OK dear." She says as she leaves the room.
"Of all the interruptions, it just had to be my mom…" he says before he flips the board over again and starts to draw another set of diagrams for his next master plan to kiss Artemis and rub it in Dick's face.

Artemis with few drops of sweat on her forehead finishes ripping through her 10th punching bag. "Well that was a good 3 hours of training." She says as Megan walks into the room.
"You want to help me with the baking for tomorrow?" Megan says.
"What's the occasion? I don't remember anything special about tomorrow."
"It is Wally's idea. He said he wants to announce something to everyone."
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this whole thing?"

Robin, looking like he is up to no good, packs a few items in his utility belt that don't look like they are built for any combat or tactical purposes. With a smirk he pulls a small chest out from under his bed which he unlocks with a strange key. Inside is written "Wally Blackmail" in bold shiny black.
"He has no chance of pulling anything if I threaten to show this to everyone." he says as he laughs maniacally pulling out a picture. "This has been locked away for years for this very day. I better take a few of my usual tools. I can't just use my greatest leverage on him straight away anyways."

The next day everyone gathered in front of a stage that had just recently been set up. They all murmured to each other about what they thought Wally was going to announce until the lights faded and smoke arose from beneath the stage and ominous music began to play and an array of coloured lights began to light up the stage.
"This is a bit much for something Wally is going to announce. It's probably going to be something stupid as always. He does have my attention though…" Artemis says to Megan.
"He did put a lot of effort into this. It might be really important." she replies.
The music's volume suddenly increases and the lights begin to flash bright in many different movement patterns. As everyone waits in anticipation, Wally suddenly descends silently from above and down toward Artemis and with a sudden movement swings himself into an upside down position ready to strike as Robin looks back to try and find out what is going on only to see him in action.
"Damn!" Robin exclaims as he pulls out a batarang and flings it at the rope just as Wally is about to connect his lips to Artemis' catching her off guard only to have the rope severed and him fall just short of his goal.
"Damn you Robin!" Wally shouts as he sprints at full and rams his fist into Robins torso.
"He nearly got me…" Artemis says stunned by how close he was. At that moment Wally saw the opportunity and rushed in to finish the job.
"Do it and I'll show them the picture!" Robin managed to blurt out half winded. Wally froze as he heard those words, only a meter away from Artemis.
