AN: I'm baaaack! I just wanted to state that I have always pictured Amity Park as being in Oregon for some reason. So if I am wrong and it turns out to cannonly be somewhere else just leave it in a message. I won't take offence.
Clutching his chest tightly and trying not jostle too much Danny flew as fast as he could in the only direction where he knew help would be. In retrospect he probably should have known Vlad would try something like that. He just hadn't expected him to be cruel enough to lead that kind of trouble straight into Amity. Well scratch that. Vlad wasn't just cruel he was cowardly. He had actually descended to the very bottom of the ghost zone in search of a very powerful artifact and had once again woken up some monstrous guardian of said artifact. Vlad seems to have gotten it into his head that the best course of when things like this happen is to hide out in Amity and just let Danny deal with it. Funny considering he's always rebuking Danny for being weaker and inexperienced compared to him.
Neither of the two halfas had expected the thing to be this strong though. It actually got so bad in the fight that Vlad joined Danny if nothing else to try to help save his own skin. That or another join me Daniel thing. Sadly not even the help of the older man was enough. The creature had some sort of ability to just plain absorb the attacks. No matter how powerful the ray or even the ghostly wail the massive shape shifting blob just absorbed the energy and returned it full force or used it to grow bigger. Eventually Vlad turned tail and left. Again. Danny couldn't just do that though. Not longer after Vlad left Danny failed to duck in time and was swiped pretty hard with the beasts claws. From his left shoulder down to the bottom of the right side of his rib cage there was a massive gash. To top matters off the force of the impact slammed him into the ground so hard that it broke several of his ribs as well. So it was with a dizzy head and an aching chest that Danny realized he would have to bail for a while. Just long enough to heal and figure out how to take that thing down. Almost all of Amity had retreated under the Fenton ghost shield (the only kind of energy that that thing couldn't absorb) and the ghost had seemed to almost fixate on Danny and Vlad alone so Danny figured the town should be able to handle themselves alone for a little while. Just long enough to gather his strength.
It was when the creature followed him in human form that he decided he might have to leave town for a while. Well that or see how much the shield could take. So after forcing himself to transform back and get back in the air he circle Amity to see if it would follow him out of town or what. Remarkably, it just sat there in the park. Sure it slashed at anyone dumb enough to approach it but it didn't go after them. Unless it was Danny. It had no problems hunting him down. So he figured it would be safe enough to go somewhere and heal in peace without worrying about endangering his friends and family. Danny figured he shouldn't be gone for too long. His ribs would heal overnight if they were set correctly and the gash wouldn't take too long either if he got it treated soon enough.
Which is what lead to him flying full speed towards Idaho of all places. He had previously visited Inuyasha and co. a while back not too terribly long after they had found him in Amity. Back then it had just been a friendly visit for sake of friendship but now it would have to be one of survival. As it was he was almost to the ranch and nearly too weak to keep to the air. Dropping a few feet out of exhaustion and pain Danny couldn't help but cry out as it jostled his ribs. While he would have preferred to have treated himself he wasn't an idiot. After fighting ghosts for this long he knew when he would have to seek help and when he could handle it himself. Right now, with his first aid kit in his room and Sam, Tucker, and Jazz all under the ghost shield he knew it would be foolish to try to stay in Amity for the night. So he figured if there was anywhere he could go it would be Inuyasha's house.
Seeing it in the distance Danny slowed down a little bit before flying the rest of the way to the covered porch. Hissing at the slightly rough landing and ignoring the spots dotting his vision he knocked and hoped he didn't look too bad off. He really didn't need someone mothering him. It's a shame he couldn't stay conscious.
Inuyasha's ears twitched as he heard something hit the porch a little hard. Listening in he heard a knock on the door and cursed lightly.
"Kagome someone's at the door! You're gonna have to get it I don't have the charm on right now."
"On my way." Watching his wife from the side Inuyasha hid from view of the doorway prepared in case she needed help of some kind. The moment the door open a strange smell flooded in and Kagome gasped and nearly screamed. Inuyasha ran towards her to see what was wrong and got there just in time to catch a unconscious Danny before he hit the floor.
He was in really bad shape. Inuyasha tried not to worry but he couldn't help it. Getting a better grip on him he turned him over just in time to watch those bright rings appear and shift his friend back into his human form. Blood was soaking through his white t shirt and the smell of it hit Inuyasha's nose like a sledge hammer. Noting the amount of blood he was quick to conclude that it must be a very large or very deep wound and carefully shifted the boy further to avoid touching it. Just to be rewarded with a grunt of pain as he felt a rib give way under his hand. Turning to ask Kagome where to put him he found she had already notified Sango and Miroku who had helped to cleared a spot on the couch and covered it with a plastic wrap usually reserved for storing the couch. Getting the medical supplies ready she motioned for him to put Danny down and remove his shirt.
It took a little while to re straighten his ribs and to bandage the wound across his chest but in the end Danny was freshly bandaged and the bleeding had even stopped. Now all they could do was wait to see when he would wake up.
"What do you suppose happened to our friend here?" questioned Miroku
Flicking an ear slightly Inuyasha pondered a moment "Who knows?"
"Inu's right,"Kagome stated "It could have been almost anything. We won't know until he wakes up."
"Unless we check the news." Sango stated while waving the remote control in the air. "If it's big enough it should be on the tv somewhere right?"
The others all nodded before deciding that they would have to check the tv channels to try and get any information at the moment.
After hours of searching and finding nothing the group was relieved to hear a groan from the couch behind them. Kagome went to go get a glass of water while Inuyasha went to try to get anything out of Danny that he could. He was met with bleary eyes that weren't focused to well. Well that was at least until he got closer. He couldn't help but be a bit proud when Danny's eyes immediately snapped to attention. Now that was a trait that would help keep him alive. Sort of.
Danny's throat felt like the Sahara and his head felt like it was about to split open. Was this what Mr. Lancer meant when he said Athena sprung from Zeus's head? Cracking his eyes open a little he couldn't help but groan at the light that now assaulted his sensitive eyesight. It was sensitive enough without the headache. Trying to focus a little he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye and immediately turned his attention there to find Inuyasha standing near him with a worried look on his face and some other emotion that didn't seem too important at the time. Suddenly a glass of water was thrust into his line of sight. Following the arm he noticed it was Kagome holding the glass. Attempting to sit up he quickly found a pair of arms helping him up. A quick glance told him Miroku.
"Are you alright there my friend?"
"Keh, leave it to you to get so beaten up. Ow! What was that for wench!"
"That was for being rude dog breath." Kagome added with a giggle before turning to face Danny again and offering the water once more. Water that Danny gratefully took and downed in one go.
"So what happened to you?" Sango asked
About 30 minutes of explaining later (AN: Sorry I'm lazy and an awful human being.) the group sat in thought.
"You do seem to have yourself in a bit of a cucumber here my friend." Miroku said ignoring the giggling and Kagome attempting to correct him about the cucumber pickle mix up.
"And you say you can't just blast it?" Inuyasha questioned and at Danny's nod at the negative "What about cut it?"
"I don't know. I couldn't try."
It was Sango's turn to ask "Well why not?"
"With what blade? I could borrow a kitchen knife but what good would that do against this thing?"
"Why not a sword? You can form a shield and energy blasts so why not a sword?" Pressed Sango.
"The sword would be of the same energy and would be just as easily absorbed as the blasts. Granted I could try but it wouldn't be much good. The first swipe might work but the second wouldn't even land before the energy was eaten away."
"Have you considered a real blade?" Inuyasha asked quietly
Danny paused before turning to the hanyo "Don't have one."
"I do. I have a spare in the back. It's not as good as Tetsusaiga but it is a strong and sturdy sword and it should handle the ghosts you fight. I had the old man Totosai forge it for me not too long after we first met you. I don't like being unarmed or unprepared for things and the way we were almost defeated that day was a bit nerve wracking. I only used a few times after that though."
"You would let me borrow it?"
"Borrow it? No. Keep it. Yes. On the condition you let me show you how to use it. Would be a shame to see you slice yourself up." Inuyasha finished with a smirk before going to get the sword. He returned shortly with an all black wakizashi and pulled the blade out to show a pale green silver metal. "This is Rei-ken. The Ghost Blade. I figured it would be a fitting name for her."
"That's a pretty sword. Are you sure you want to give it to me?"
"Of course. Only makes sense you should have it." Inuyasha said with a shrug.
Miroku nodded before adding an of course while Sango stated that he did fight ghosts the most and he would need a blade to help sometimes.
That's how the next morning after a night of rest and mending Danny and Inuyasha found themselves up with the sun learning the basic moves with a sword. By noon Danny figured he had practiced enough and that he should be getting back to Amity to try again. Bidding everyone farewell and thanking them for their help as well as promising to visit soon Danny took off full speed ahead to his home. Little did he know he was being followed by a red and white blur.
Watching Danny slice through the blob thing so easily was definitely a proud moment for Inuyasha. He had originally followed to make sure Danny didn't get himself killed but had watched from the sidelines. He figured that he wouldn't need the charm bracelet in a place like Amity Park. Everyone here either wouldn't notice him or would assume he is just another ghost. So he promptly parked himself on top of a tall building and watched the fight commence. Rei-ken did the job phenomenally well. Even if Danny had next to no experience he was a natural. The fact that the sword was also made for cutting up ghostly beings while not being composed of energy helped too. After cutting the blob into jello like chunks Danny proceeded to use his thermos to suck it up and find a place to hide to transform back into his human persona. So while the rest of the city ran out from under the shield and thanked Phantom for saving them once again Fenton snuck back towards his home. Inuyasha couldn't help but notice how his ghost form had not only kept the blade but had changed the color of the hilt white and the hand guard green. After making sure Danny got home safely Inuyasha bounded back home while planning out what to train Danny on next with swordsmanship. After all, it would be a waste of both talent and sword if he didn't.
I would like to apologize for being gone for so long.
