Chapter 8
Jack and the doctor fight
When the doctor was roused from his faint, he sat up slowly and looked up at the young woman Jack held in his arms, the woman river had said was their daughter.
"... Mum is dad going to be okay? He looks a little pale." Kallie asked as the doctor sat up.
"He'll be fine, I'm sure." River said turning to the doctor. "Hello, sweetie."'
"You have some explaining to do River." He grumbled standing up slowly, still feeling a little light headed.
"I will, once the boys arrive." River said her arm around Kallie's shoulder. Kallie was pale and had her hand in Jack's.
"Mum is Susan alright?" Kallie asked.
"Yes, Kallie she's fine. Sleeping like a baby when I left." River said quietly with a small chuckle.
"Kallie, why didn't you say the doctor was your father?" Jack asked, rubbing his thumb against hers where they held hands, their wedding rings touching.
"It never came up, and I didn't think either of you would be overly pleased about the situation." Kallie flashed a look to the Doctor, who was looking at her and Jack's hands. He then focused his hearing on Kallie and she looked up as he stepped closer.
"Oh no." Was all she said in the time she had to move back and out of the way as the doctor punched Jack in the face.
"Doctor!" River exclaimed angrily and Jack groaned in pain.
"Dad!" Kallie gasped.
"What was that for!" Jack complained.
"You have betrayed my trust Captain. You marry my daughter without telling me and then get her.. Get her...get her..." The doctor wasn't sure how to phrase it.
"Pregnant," Kallie said simply. "Yes Dad I am pregnant, but I'm married so that's allowed!" Kallie argued.
"Yes, that. And you don't think to tell me!" The doctor demanded of Jack and River. Jack was staring at Kallie and she shrugged mouthing 'I did try to tell you.'
"You think that's bad?" Jack asked. "You abandoned me and made me wait for you, after having Rose make me immortal and you left me to suffer, alone! You left me, left your daughter and your sons. You left us behind Doctor! Your family! You left us!" Jack roared in response. Kallie had had enough and looked to River before she shouted.
"SILENCE! ENOUGH, both of you." She said quieter when the noise between the two had ceased. "Dad may have left you Jack, and I am sure he didn't mean it... But he didn't even know I existed. mum never told him because she was trying to keep us from Kovarian."
"Kovarian? Kovarian threatened you?" The doctor asked looking at river, she nodded and he wrapped his arms around her. "Oh, river, river, river. Why didn't you say anything to me?"
"Spoilers." River replied with a small laugh.
"There's that word again, Johnny. The word thst haunts our memories. Hello Mum." A man's voice said from the cog doorway to the hub. Everyone turned to look at the newcomers. A pair of identical twin boys, with dark hair and green eyes like Kallie stood by it, smiling happily.
"Johnny! Alistair!" Kallie squealed and rushed to hug them tightly.
"Hello, little sister." The first said, the one who has spoken first, Alistair the eldest of the twin boys. His brother stood silently beside him with a beaming smile.
"Hello, Ma." He said as River rushed forward and wrapped her children in her arms.
"Oh John, Alistair. It is so good to see you." River gushed. "My how you've grown."
"River?" The doctor asked cautiously.
"Dad, may I introduce you to your sons, my older brothers, John and Alistair. Named for Uncle Alistair.. brigadier Lethbridge Stewart?" Kallie tested and once again the doctor passed out cold.
