« Damn » hissed the Ace of Shohoku, taking a step backwards to separate himself from Hanamichi's body. He couldn't think anymore, his brain freezing with the fear to be discovered with the other man by his mother. His mother knew his sexual orientation and even if she hadn't condemned it, she hadn't approved it either.

There was impossible for the redhead to exit the house now without facing the Rukawa matriarch.

Rukawa was completely silent to his mother's calls and wasn't ever hearing the footsteps that were approaching but that wasn't his teammate's case who pulling his shirt to make him react.

"Rukawa, I think I have a little problem" muttered desperately Hanamichi Sakuragi. The urgency of the tone seemed to wake the raven haired youth who look finally to the reddened face of the redhead.

He had never seen the auto-proclaimed tensai blush this intensely and when he looked down, he understood the reason by noticing the bulge in his boyfriend's pants that his shirt cannot cover up. He didn't know if he should be exasperated or amused.

"You're really an exhibitionist" said Rukawa rolling his eyes. He caught an apron and launched it to the new Center of Shohoku basketball team who tied it around his neck and waist.

If only his mother wasn't here, he would have taken care of this problem gladly.

Abandoning the redhead in the kitchen, he walked to meet his mother in the living room to manage an escape to the redhead even if she couldn't have skipped the other pair of shoes at the entry.

When Ayumi Rukawa saw his son, she hugged him to kiss him then she backed away.

"Kaede, haven't you heard me call for you at least five times? What were you doing? Would you take my luggage at the entry and put them in my bedroom please."

Rukawa sighed with relief interiorly. Maybe she hadn't noticed anything after all.

"Mother, you had to be exhausted. I can prepare you a bath if you want." He proposed amiably.

"You're right. The flight was exhausting and I had to deliver some products at the company before returning home. Your father decided to do a little detour and will remain a few days in the United Kingdom."

Unfortunately, she was walking to the kitchen with him by her side. Stopping her by physical force would only rise her suspicion.

"Have you already eaten Kaede? You know I don't like you skip meals when I'm not here to recall you that you must eat. All this screaming make me thirsty, I will take a bottle of water in the fridge."

-Mother, please sit down, I will…"

He didn't even have the time to finish his sentence before viewing this mother immobilizing herself at the kitchen entry when she saw the redhead.

She turned toward him, deception flashing in her eyes, crossing her arms on her chest.

"Don't you think that it is not an hour to receive a guest, Kaede? You have school tomorrow and we both know that to wake up in time is already difficult for you."

Hanamichi didn't let a chance to Rukawa to answer.

He bowed to Rukawa's mother and took the blame on himself.

"It's my fault Rukawa-san. As I know that Rukawa-kun was alone, I proposed myself to make us dinner."

Ayumi Rukawa nodded and sighed heavily before smiling to the redhead who took his son's defense.

"I'm Ayumi Rukawa, Kaede's mother and I bet that you're in his basketball team. With your height, that would be a pity if you don't." and she presented her hand to shake.

"I'm Hanamichi Sakuragi madam, it's a pleasure to meet you" answered the redhead shaking lightly her feminine hand.

"I thank you for your help but I think that your parents would be worry that you haven't back home yet. " That was a polite way to say him to back home.

Rukawa haven't anticipated the redhead answer which seemed to flutter his mother's disappointment and suddenly, he saw the redhead under a new light.

"That wouldn't be a problem, I am an orphan but you're right, I will leave and let you rest. Thank you for your welcoming."

He untied the apron, put in on the table and left the kitchen and walked through the living room to the main door.

Rukawa was by his side when he finished lashing his shoes. Hanamichi could read in the raven haired youth more emotions than usual.

"See you tomorrow fox" said the redhead before exiting.

"See you tomorrow doha'ho" answered Ruwaka in a murmur.

When he went to meet again her mother, she was sitting in the living room, massaging her temples. He sat down next to her.

"You're really lucky that was only me tonight Kaede, your father would not be so gentle if he had discovered that you profit from our absence to invite some guy in his house.

-It's not what you're…'

A slam on his face didn't allow him to continue.

"Don't lie to me Kaede. You never invite anybody before and you didn't even talk to us about your school life or your basketball team. You want to make me believe that you suddenly want to invite a member of this team to share your meals?!"

She stood up and she spoke firmly.

"I don't want another man here if we are not present, understood?"

During all the hours in class, Hanamichi couldn't focus on the lessons, his mind keeping playing the meeting with Rukawa's mother.

She had been polite but that would be an understatement to negate that she was happy to see him by his son's side.

Sighing for the twentieth time, he couldn't wait to meet Rukawa in the gym.

When the ring bell to announce the class's end, he ran to the gym. Rukawa was already here with Mitsui but Miyagi haven't arrived yet nor Ayako and Haruko or the other regulars.

Mitsui was practicing his three points baskets and Rukawa was in a corner making spin absently the ball on his finger.

When Hanamichi approached him, he let the ball fall and picked it up.

"I'm sorry about yesterday Doha'ho! That has been also an embarrassing situation for you"

Hanamichi shook his head.

"Not a problem fox, I hope that she wasn't too angered after my departure. Did she say anything to you?

-She had only forbidden me to receive you if she or my dad isn't at home."

The sadness in Hanamichi's eyes at these words took Rukawa by surprise. What that idiot was thinking?

"I suppose that means we cannot continue to see each other outside of the school?"

Rukawa smirked before passing suddenly the ball to the redhead who caught it thanks to his reflexes.

"No dohaho, that only means that we will see each other or you will make dinners for us at your house."
