Shadow of the Jedi

I know that I said that Nico, Ahsoka and HK would be going to Mandalore this chapter, but one of the reviewers pointed out that if I did that then I would be skipping the entirety of season 2, so this chapter is different.

Chapter 19: We've already done this before and that's what's so messed up

A month had passed after the hunt for Ziro the Hutt, and during that month Nico has been preparing for an assault to retake an in particular planet. But this isn't any ordinary assault like it was on Ryloth, this time they are going to be retaking the original Separatist droid manufacturing planet, Geonosis.

The planet itself was thought to have been secure, like many other Separatist planets, but when the Republic outpost that was stationed on Geonosis didn't report in on its monthly duties, the Jedi knew there was trouble, so they sent a small ship full of heavily armed Clones to take a look, when the ship came back, a badly injured Sergeant on the brink of death reported that the Geonosians have retaken the planet.

Nico had been one of the Jedi chosen to lead the attack on Geonosis, taking the main droid manufacturing plant. Accompanying him will be, Anakin, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan and Ki-Ad-Mundi.

When Nico had learned that he was going to have to work with Ki-Adi-Mundi, his eyes had widened so much that people stopped conversation just to look at him. He didn't want to go through trust issues with yet another Jedi, especially in an assault like this. But weirdly, and thankfully on Nico's part, Mundi acted like nothing ever happened, as if he didn't kill three Jedi in front of his very eyes. Nico asked him why he wasn't acting all hostile, and he just responded saying.

'It is not the way of the Jedi to hold a grudge.'

Nico had to refrain himself from rolling his eyes at that statement as he remembered the Jedi code.

There is no emotion, there is peace.

There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.

There is no passion, there is serenity.

There is no chaos, there is harmony.

There is no death, there is the Force.

Nico may be a Jedi now, but he still couldn't help but think that there were a few flaws within that code (Especially with the 'There is no death' part.), but he would never dare speak it aloud.

Nico had been going through the plan on the invasion of Geonosis with Ahsoka as many times as he could, and he could see many flaws, fro example, the amount of heavy laser cannons that the Geonosian's would surely have to defend their home world, he tried to bring this up to the Jedi but, foolishly, they didn't listen. Obviously he didn't revolve his entire time in memorising the plan, but enough to keep him on his feet.

The fleet of eight Republic Acclamator drop ships and six Republic Venator class Cruisers just dropped out of hyperspace over the planet Geonosis.

Nico was on the lead Cruiser, the Resolute, walking toward the bridge for the briefing where the rest of the Jedi would be waiting.

Though as Clones walked past him, each of them new not to interrupt his stride, if the pained expression was anything to go by and the fact that he was rubbing his chest didn't help either, that and the fact that there was a massive orange assassin droid walking next to him.

"Statement: My exterior shell is primarily constructed of high density durasteel," The HK droid informs the Ghost King calmly, as his chest aches, "It is advisable that you refrain from ramming your meatbag frame into my own. At best, you may fracture several of your bones."

Nico groaned in frustration, "I figured that one thanks." Nico says, the pain in his chest slowly disappearing. He had just woken up and wandered out of his quarters, but as he was leaving his quarters, still groggy from waking up, he ran into a hard metal object, it turned out that metal object was HK, "What were you doing there, anyways?"

HK-47 simultaneously replies, while tinkering with a panel on his arm, "Observation: While we are both under the employ of my master, I am not forced to interact with other meatbags." Nico frowned at the fact that this annoying droid thought that he was working for Skywalker, What do I look like, a Bounty Hunter? Before Nico could voice those thoughts, the assassin droid continued, "Addendum: I will disclose that I was performing a regular inspection of all possible escape routes of this vessel."

Nico rolled his eyes, Yep…That sounds like an assassin droid. "Why would you even bother with that? We're in space. Where would you go?"

"Statement: In the event that my master is terminated, I will shut down. However, if the situation arises, I am capable of surviving in a vacuum considerably longer than you would be able to. Clarification: While I feel that this is necessary, it is most certainly a far more efficient use of time than lying on a soft surface for several hours a day."

Nico frowned, sleep is nice! Although… "You may have a point," Nico concedes, "Think about how much time I'd have if I didn't have to sleep."

"Statement: Of course, meatbag, I would recommend cybernetic upgrades. You should also consider replacing your fleshy exterior with something of a more sturdy material."

Nico chuckles, Sorry, already tried that when I was Reaper. But then he stops chuckling as he remembers something that Dooku had told him once that involved a cyborg, Nico didn't really listen to what it was exactly, all he knew was that it was called 'Project: Grievous' and that it would apparently replace him someday, something that Dooku would not stop pointing out.

"No," Nico replies to HK's suggestion, "but you're not the first person to suggest something like that."

If HK-47 could smile, Nico was positive he would be. "It sounds like a very wise meatbag, unlike you're self."

Nico sighed, as the two made their way into the elevator that'll take them up to the bridge, "I take it you won't stop calling me meatbag, right?" He asked, getting a bit tired of hearing the same, annoying, insult, "I do have a name, you know." He said as he pressed the button for the bridge.

"Observation: Yes, you do have a designation. However, I will make an effort not to use it from this point forward. If you do not enjoy the term meatbag, perhaps fleshbag would suffice?"

"No!" Nico replies quickly, "Unless you want me to call you murderous metal toaster."

"Observation: Such titles will do very little against my morale. If I have it, it seems to be intact. You, on the other hand, are quite prone to selective taunts designed to increase you're combat efficiency."

Nico turns his head toward the droid, and narrowed his eyes, "What exactly do you mean by that?"

"Conclusion: By testing your reaction to certain statements, I have been uncovering the optimal series of prompts to increase your abilities in armed combat."

Nico grit his teeth, Have you ever been up against a damn God? Nico mentally asks, cause apparently I've gone up against the God of the Sun. Nico then frowned and shakes his head, I'm having conversations with myself again, not a good sign. "There's more to life than killing 'meatbags'," Nico says, using air quotes. I really don't like being referred to as meatbag; it's considerably less humorous when it's directed at me…Repeatedly…Over and over again.

HK pauses for a moment. "Statement: I would have to disagree, and diagnose you as a psychotic meatbag, since you requested an alternative to meatbag that will be your designation…psychotic human."

Nico's jaw clenched, not exactly amused. The door to the elevator opens up, and the two figures walk out to see the doors to the bridge. As Nico walks toward it HK's unblinking optical sensors follow him. The droid was done tinkering with the panel on its arm, and is now focusing all of its visible attention on Nico. The Ghost King sighed, not exactly understanding why he's having a conversation with a droid. He never did this when he was Reaper. It's different than talking to a human-or an alien.

"I don't like you." Nico stated, half joking half serious, as they enter the bridge of the Resolute. On the bridge, Jedi Masters Ki-Adi-Mundi and Obi-Wan Kenobi were standing in front of the viewport, silently looking at the planet of Geonosis, on their right was the two bickering forms of Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, Nico walked over to the four.

HK continues his emotionless gaze, "Observation: While we are sadly forced to work alongside one another, psychotic meatbag, that does not mean that you should approve of this unit or its functions. Rest assured that I will eliminate you if required to do so by my master."

"Thanks," Nico drawls sarcastically, "Great talking to ya."

Once Nico walks up to the four, Kenobi turns his head slightly to look at Nico, "You're late." He says sternly.

Nico sighed, "Sorry, I had an annoying assassin droid that rammed into me." He said, as he gestured toward HK.

"Correction: For the purposes of presenting a clear truth, this psychotic meatbag was the one that rammed into my durasteel armour."

Nico turned around to glare at Anakin, who stopped bickering with Ahsoka, just to look at his new droid with pride, "Why did you leave this damn droid with me?" He questioned angrily.

Anakin raised his hands in an 'I surrender' gesture, "Sorry," He said, all too casually, "Ahsoka and I were routing the Seppies near Dorrin."

Nico sighed, Fair enough. Ahsoka then looked at Nico with a smirk, "My squadron alone had fifty-five kills." She said proudly.

Anakin looks at her with a look that clearly says, 'that ain't nothing', "Yeah," He starts as if talking to a baby, "But mine had seventy-six."

Ahsoka rolled her eyes, "Show off." She muttered, while Nico just raised an eyebrow, those two definitely like a good competition.

Obi-Wan sighed, "Well, I'm glad you two are enjoying yourselves." He said, clearly irritated.

Skywalker looks at his former master with a smirk, "Hey, it's just a little friendly competition master," he said, "Nothing to worry about."

Kenobi frowned as he rubbed his beard, "What I'm worried about is how this war seems to be drawing out," Kenobi said, as he sighed tiredly, "With no end in sight."

Ki-Adi looked at Obi-Wan with wise eyes, "Which is why it is crucial that our invasion of Geonosis meets with success."

Anakin nodded, "Agreed," He then turned to his Padawan, "Ahsoka, contact the Outer-Rim command, we're ready for our briefing." He ordered.

Ahsoka turned to her master, "They're already waiting for us."

Nico was standing around a holo table with Master Mundi, Obi-Wan, Anakin and Ahsoka, along with the holograms of the Outer-Rim command which consisted of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Yoda, Mace Windu and Luminara Unduli. On the holo table had the planet of Geonosis.

"Our ships are in position and we are ready to begin our campaign against the Geonosians." Kenobi reported to the Outer-Rim command.

"What about Poggle, any report on his location?" Windu asked, the Geonosian leader had only recently come up on the Republics radar.

Nico nodded as he pressed a button on the holo table, replacing the planet with a hologram of a large landscape, with a building and a red shield surrounding it, "It seems like he is held up in the primary droid foundry here." He said as he pointed to the large building, then he gestured to a smaller building that was near the edge of the shield, "The factory is protected by a shield generator." He said as it flashed, indicating its location, "Knight Skywalker, Kenobi and Master Mundi along with myself and Ahsoka will attempt a three pronged attack, through their defence lines, to a staging area just short of the shield." He said as three arrows from the North, East and South came toward the same area outside of the shield, "Once we've landed we'll knock out the shield generator," he then looked up from the plan, to see the rest of the faces of the Outer-Rim command, "That is our primary target."

The Chancellor frowned, "Isn't it risky committing three generals to one area of the attack?" He asked in a concerned tone, "If something went wrong we'd be dealt with a serious blow." The Chancellor said, as he looked at Master Yoda for his opinion.

"To ensure, rise again, Geonosis does not, capture Poggle, we must." The Grand Master reassures.

The Chancellor smiles down at Yoda, "Of course," He then looked at the rest of the Jedi, but more specifically, Nico, "As always I shall leave the strategy up to you, Master Jedi."

Nico raises an eyebrow, noticing the pointed look, "Our thanks, Chancellor." Obi-Wan replied with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

Windu swept his eyes on each and every Jedi, "May the Force be with you." And the holograms of Windu, Yoda and Palpatine winked off.

Just then the doors to the bridge open, revealing Commander Cody, Captain Rex and Ki-Adi Mundi's Clone Captain, Jet, who, unlike the other two, was adorned in brown camouflage armour. The three soldiers walked up to the holo table.

Kenobie smiled, "Good, Cody," He said as he zoomed in on the map of Geonosis, "These are the coordinates of the rendezvous."

Cody nodded, "Yes sir, when we hit the ground we'll make a perimeter there. Getting past their defence line here will be the trick," he said as a dotted line that went across the projection of the foundry came up. "General Mundi will cross the lines from the north. We will make our assault through the middle. General Skywalker will make his attack on the defensive lines from the south. And we'll meet at the rendezvous point at 0700 exactly."

Master Mundi frowned as he looked over the plan, "If we meet with strong resistance and are forced down away from the landing zone hold out until we join our forces, before attacking the shield generator."

Nico looked at the hologram with a dark frown, "There front lines are fortified enough to stop a capital ship from entering the atmosphere," The Ghost King said. He could tell from reading the scans captured by Rex just a day before. It showed orbital cannons and turrets that fire off ten laser shots a second. Not to mention the tanks, and eventual Geonosian warriors that wold be attacking on fighters and speeders.

Ahsoka nodded in agreement, "Nico's right, I mean look at that giant wall with all the gun emplacements," She said, while pointing to a red figure that was in the middle of a canyon. "That won't be easy to get around."

Though Skywalker seemed completely at ease, "Don't worry, we're not going anywhere near that."

Nico snorts, "Yeah, and if you're plan screws up once again Skywalker, you could always do something that great Jedi have done for millennia," At the questioning looks, Nico smirked, "Improvise."

Anakin rolled his eyes as the other Jedi chuckle, "Don't worry about us, you just make sure you get yourself to that landing zone in one piece." He teases.

Nico seemed to muse on this, "Yes, and I'll be waiting for you when you finally arrive." He drawled. Anakin opened his mouth for a retort, but was interrupted by a tired sigh.

"Gentleman if you please," The exasperated hologram of Luminara Unduli said tiredly, "If you are quite finished, we have a battle to begin."

Kenobi nodded, "Quite right," Luminara nodded, before turning to Master Mundi and bowing toward the Jedi High Counselor, then her hologram winked off. Kenobi turned to his Commander, "Cody, prep the Gunships, I'll meet you in the hanger,"

Cody saluted, "Yes Sir."

Nico was about to leave the bridge and get to a gunship with Anakin and Ahsoka, when Skywalker stopped him, "Nico, I want you to go with Obi-Wan and Cody for this part of the battle."

Nico raised an eyebrow, "Why?"

Anakin frowned, "Because I told you to, Padawan." Anakin said, putting emphasis on 'Padawan'.

Nico's eyes narrowed and he smirked slightly. Finally pulling rank on me are you? "Touche, Skywalker, touché."

"What does touché mean?" Anakin asked with a confused expression, but Nico just walked out without saying a word.

As the Republic fleet enters the atmosphere of Geonosis, Y-Wing bomber squadrons start to lift off out of the Cruisers and prepare their bombing run.

Meanwhile, on one of the Acclamator Cruisers, Nico, Cody and Kenobi were walking toward one of the Gunships, while talking about the good old days.

"No sir," Cody replies to what Obi-Wan asked him, "I wasn't involved in the first assault on Geonosis."

Kenobi sighed as he entered his gunship, "Oh you didn't miss much, last time I was chained to a pole and attacked by several humungous monsters." Nico couldn't help but snort in the dry tone that Obi-Wan used.

"That sounds…" Cody searched for the right word, "Entertaining."

Nico nodded seriously, "Oh, it was," At the look he was getting from Kenobi he quickly added, "For the Geonosians." After the Ghost King said that the doors to Kenobi's Gunship sealed shut.

Nico glanced at Cody, "Come on Commander, times wasting," he said as he marched his way toward the closest gunship, the Commander hot on his heels.

The two Gunships holding the Jedi leave the Cruiserand head toward the landing zone, only to be followed by over five dozen more gunships, holding AT-TE's (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) and more Clone soldiers.

Soon enough the gunships were over the Geonosian defence line and they were getting attacked by the turrets and flak cannons.

Geonosian fighters came out of nowhere taking out gunships one by one, luckily for the Clones and Jedi, the Geonosians had terrible aim.

The Y-Wing bombers came in for their attack run on the defence line to try and clear a path for the gunships, once they were in range, they let loose there pay load, destroying several cannons in the process.

Meanwhile, on one of the Acclamator Cruisers, Anakin and Ahsoka jump into the gunship that Captain Rex and HK-47 were already on.

"Are we already Rex?" The Jedi Knight questioned.

The Captain nodded as the gunship started to take off, "Yes sir, General Kenobi and Commander Di Angelo are already underway." Rex reported.

Skywalker looked at Ahsoka with a mischievous smirk, one that she was happy to duplicate, "Well he's got a head start," Anakin said as he looked back at the Captain, who was glancing at the two warily, "We'll have to catch up."

"Statement: This is going to be fun." The assassin droid said with relish in his voice, as the gunship lifted off.

On the Resolute, Admiral Yularen watched as Master Mundi entered his Gunship.

"Good luck General." The Admiral stated as he snapped a salute.

Master Mundi smiled at Yularen, "There is no such thing as luck." With that being said, his gunship doors sealed shut and took off.

Line break

Once Skywalker's gunship was out of the Cruiser they were immediately hit with flak, the gunship kept knocking about. Once they were over the defence line the real assault began as several Geonosian fighters started pummeling the gunships that followed Skywalker, one of the shots from a cannon on the ground hit the engine of Anakin's gunship, making it fall to the ground.

On Ki-Adi Mundi's gunship, things weren't going much smoother.

"The flak is too heavy." The Jedi Master said, as the gunship once again knocked to the side.

Captain Jet was listening in on his Comm to Captain Rex, "We're down! Repeat, down! Location five n-" There was nothing but static.

"I've just lost contact with Skywalker's team!" The Captain shouted over the flak.

On the ground of where Anakin's gunship crashed the sealed doors suddenly flung open to reveal Anakin Skywalker wielding his lightsaber exiting the demolished gunship.

"Come on!" He shouted to the soldiers over the noise of the blasters being shot, "We have to keep moving!"

Ahsoka, HK and the Clones got out of the gunship and started firing back at the Geonosians.

Anakin ran toward the closest bug and sliced it in half then used the Force to throw at least five of the drone like bugs into a large rock.

As Ahsoka was deflecting blaster bolts, defending the Clones, "They're falling back!" She shouted, "Come on!" She said as she charged forward.

Back with General Mundi, he was on the verge of panic, "Get the tanks down now!" He ordered his Captain.

The Captain nodded, but before he could even raise his arm for the comlink the gunship engines were hit, causing them to slowly fall to the ground.

The Captain bought his wrist up, "Cody get the tanks down! Come in Cody! Get those tanks down!"

"Copy that." Came the reply, before the gunship crashed.

Kenobi's forces had just made it over the defence line and were making their way to the landing zone, when Cody got a call on his comlink.

"Cody get the tanks down! Come in Cody! Get those tanks down!"

The Commander nodded toward Nico, who reached for his comm, while Cody replied, "Copy that."

"Pilot," Nico said into his comm, "Begin landing sequence."

"Copy that Commander, have fun down there." The pilot said as he relayed the orders to the rest of the gunships.

The Gunships started to make a circular perimeter, the tanks were at equal distance to one and other while the gunships landed in the gaps in between the tanks to make the rest of the barrier, to create a circle. Soldiers started off loading from the gunships to prepare for the defences, but as soon as they got out, red blaster shots started shooting right at them.

Nico jumped out of the gunship and ignited his black as night lightsaber, blocking random shots that were made for him. He heard a large explosion above him and looked up, only to see three gunships come crashing down away from the landing zone.

Nico grit his teeth and bought his wrist communicator up to his mouth, "Kenobi, don't land, the zone is too hot!"

"But there's nowhere else to g-" Kenobi was cut off and static filled the comm unit, simultaneously, a gunship crash landed about five klicks to the East, directly in front of the Ghost King.

Nico just sighed, "Well, this plan could have gone better." He then turned around and retreated back into the circular defensive position the Clones had made with the gunships and tanks.

When Ki-Adi Mundi crashed, the gunships that were following him landed near his location, dropping off the troops and tanks. Clones were all over the place either dead, injured or trying to help the injured. Thankfully, there were no Geonosian defences to try and take out.

Once the Clones found Master Mundi's crashed gunship there were only two survivors, the Captain and the Jedi himself, though he was slightly wounded with blood coming from the top of his large head.

Captain Jet helped the General out of the damaged gunship, "What are our losses Captain?" The Jedi General questioned.

The Captain sighed, "We got hit pretty hard, I think only Kenobi's forces made it through the flak to the landing zone."

Master Mundi frowned, "And what about Skywalker?" He asked.

"Captain Rex reported that they're still in the middle of a firefight," The Captain sighed, "Skywalker's tanks are gone, and they're trying to contact General Kenobi's forces for support, in the meantime they'll press on to the rendezvous point." The Captain reported.

The Jedi Master nodded as he straightened himself up, but winced in pain and grabbed the side of his chest, feeling that his ribs were broken, "Very well, load the injured onto the tanks, we'll make for that breach," He said as he pointed to a bunch of small mountains, and if you looked closely, you could see a cave, "With any luck we could meet up with Skywalker on his way to Kenobi's position."

Line break

Quad lasers were firing upon the Clones of Anakin's gunship from Geonosian spires, Anakin and Ahsoka were trying to block the blaster fire before it hits the Clones, but it was just too fast.

Rex ran up to the two Jedi and took cover behind a bank, he had just received a message from Nico, "Okay Commander, I'll speak to General Skywalker." He said as he lowered his wrist comm.

"Rex!" Anakin shouted over the blaster fire, gaining the Captains attention, "What's the word? Will Kenobi send us support or not?" He questioned as he took cover behind the bank with Rex.

The Captain shook his head, "I don't think so sir, Commander DI Angelo says that the General never reached the landing site, he thinks his gunship got shot down."

Anakin curses under his breath, "Great, the onetime I actually ask Obi-Wan for help and he's nowhere to be found." Ahsoka just flipped for the cover of the bank, joining in on their conversation.

"Well what if something happened to General Kenobi?" She asked with a look of concern, "He could be injured! Or-" She was interrupted from her ranting by Skywalker.

"No time for that kind of talk," The Jedi Knight said sternly, he then turned his head back to the Captain, "Rex we nee-" This time Anakin was interrupted by a very proud assassin droid.

"Optimal accuracy ratio achieved!" The assassin droid announced cheerfully, when the two Jedi and Captain glanced at what HK was doing, they only had enough time to see the droid fire a single shot from a Clone sniper rifle. And that one shot did wonders.

The lone blaster shot entered a Geonosian spire and it must have hit something important because it suddenly blew up scattering all of the Geonosian forces around the spire onto the ground. Bodies of the bug like creatures fell from the spire.

HK did the same thing to the last two spires in less than ten seconds, when all the spires fell there was only smoke, but when the smoke cleared the Jedi and Clones looked over the bank, only to see the orange form of the assassin droid standing there, staring back with menacing red photoreceptors.

"Statement: I do enjoy the opportunity for slaughter, Master!"

Back with Nico and Cody, they were trying to find a way on how to get too the downed Republic gunship that was holding the Jedi General, until Nico just decided to wing it.

"Screw it." The Ghost King muttered as he lowered the binoculars he was using to look at the downed gunship, he turned to Cody, "Have those tanks give me cover fire." Before the Commander could even question the order Nico gave him, the Ghost King started to sprint toward the gunship.

Cody raised his wrist comm, "AT-TE 636, lay down cover fire at point three-five." He ordered.

As for Nico he was dodging laser shots, cannon blasts and sonic weaponry while sprinting for all he's worth to the downed Republic gunship, as he was running he noticed that the AAT tanks and Geonosian speeders were also moving forward, heading toward the downed gunship.

Once Nico reached the gunship he leaned against the sealed doors to catch his breath. Why do I always get the fun missions? He then rolled his eyes, No this ain't the fun part, getting back to the defence zone will be the damn fun part. He thought to himself sarcastically as he pried the doors to the gunship open, revealing a dozen dead Clones and one lone Jedi with several cuts on his face.

Obi-Wan raised his hand to his face as the light hit him, he then squinted at his rescuer, "Nico," he said with relief, "am I glad to see you."

Nico smirked, "When aren't people glad to see me."

Obi-Wan rolled his eyes and gestured to the Clone next to him. "Trapper and I are the only ones still alive."

Nico looks at the two of them, "Ah, right," The Ghost King says lamely, "We may have a problem."

"Sir!" A voice came from behind Nico, the Prince of Death turned around, only to be met with two Clones running up to him, "Boiler reporting." One of the Clones said as he saluted.

"Waxer reporting." The second Clone said, snapping a salute.

Nico just looked at them incredulously, "Screw protocol, help me get these guys out of here." The two Clones nodded, Nico grabbed Obi-Wan while boiler grabbed the injured Clone, Trapper, and Waxer gave cover fire.

As Nico hauled the injured Jedi Knight to the defence line he gave a small update on the battle, "Cody and I have established the square just beyond this position, the bugs are on the move and are trying to surround us as we speak."

The Jedi and Clones had to pace as fast as they could to avoid any of the artillery blasts coming from the left and right. The sound was ringing in Nico's ears. Foot by foot, more and more shells were blowing up around them. They walked behind other Clones that provided cover fire. The sounds of the Geonosian speeders, firing there sonic weaponry at the AT-TE's got closer and closer.

"Take it down!" One of the Clones that were providing cover fire shouted, "Take it down!"

The Clones and Jedi finally got under the first AT-TE of the square, Commander Cody there to greet them.

"Are you injured General?" The Commander asked, making Nico roll his eyes, What do you think? The Ghost King thought sarcastically as he lowered the Jedi General down in front of some crates.

Kenobi waved off Cody's concern, "Nothing to serious. What's the situation here?"

The Commander sighed, "We've got no air cover, two generals on the ground beyond our position, and a mass of bugs surrounding us." The Commander reported, as the medic put a needle through Kenobi's neck, injecting him with bacta, "The enemy was more than ready for our attack sir… They knew our every move."

"Well, I'm sure General Skywalker and General Mundi will make it to our position." Kenobi stated.

Nico sighed, "Yeah, we've just got to make sure that we're still here when they arrive."

"Understood, sir," Cody replied to Obi-Wan, ignoring Nico, "I'll try to call in some air support." He said as he walked over to an AT-TE while lifting his wrist comm up to his helmet covered face. Nico was hot on his heels.

"Anything you want me to do Commander?" Nico asked, getting slightly bored, even though there were massive explosions going on all around him.

"Nothing at the moment, sir," The Commander replied as he pressed an encryption key on the wrist comm. "Admiral, sir," The Commander said through the comm, "We are at the landing zone, but are surrounded by the enemy. We're requesting air support."

"Negative, Commander," Replied the slightly garbled voice of Admiral Yularen, "We are unable to provide any air support for you at this time."

"I understand that sir," Cody said in an irritated tone. "But we have two generals on the ground beyond our position."

"This is a planetary wide invasion, Captain," the Admiral replied calmly. "If any forces are reverted to your position, it might sacrifice other areas of the campaign."

The Commander sighed, "Understood, sir, Cody out."

"I'll go tell General Kenobi," Nico said as he started to walk back, but Cody grabbed him by the shoulder.

"No, sir," The Commander said. "I need you to command the front."

Nico looked at the Commander with a blank face for a couple of seconds then a smirk made its way onto his face, "I thought you'd never ask."

Nico grabbed his lightsaber from his belt and turned toward the square's outer rim and walked towards the troops that were defending the AT-TE's and the gunships. They were all firing their blasters at full force, giving no quarter to the Geonosian's. The enemy was doing just the same. Numerous of the Geonosian's AAT's were taking heavy losses, but kept coming and coming with no end in sight. Nico walked in front of the furthest Clones that were firing just as hard as all the others, maybe even harder.

Nico ignited the black as night lightsaber in his reverse grip, the blade flying parallel to his spine. "Keep fighting!" The Ghost King shouted, "We can't let them break through!"

Not a moment later and a Geonosian sonic blaster bolt shot past his ear. Nico's jaw clenched as he felt the pain and heard the ringing, but he did not budge. He stood resolute and stern like a statue of one of the Grand Masters in the Jedi Temple. Suddenly, as quick as a flash, he pulled his lightsaber up and deflected a high powered bolt from a tank back into its heavy armour, piercing it and lighting it up in flames.

Nico blocked numerous shots as the Clones fought around him. They looked like the mightiest of warriors to ever live. Then again, what would you expect from an army cloned by a Mandalorian? Each Clone was different. One would be wondering they were almost out of ammunition. Another could be wondering where the next shot would come from. These men weren't Clones on the inside, but individual people all on their own.

Nico lifted his hand up as three Geonosian speeder bikes came into view, using the power of the Force, he lifted the bug like creatures off of the bike and put them in the line of fire of the AAT tanks killing them instantly, as the three speeder bikes went out of control and smashed into a squad of Geonosian warriors.

The bugs were getting closer and closer on their speeders. Nico even saw Obi-Wan try to join the fight. The Jedi General got up, breathing heavily, grabbing his lightsaber. A moment later Nico heard a low hum, making him blink in confusion…It was the low hum of a sublight engine.

"Reinforcements!" A Clone yelled from the top of an AT-TE, Nico turned around to see what the Clone was pointing to. It was a squadron of Y-Wings. "Reinforcements have arrived!" the Clone tried to yell before he was cut off by the hum of the Y-Wings making their bombing runs on the AAT's and other enemy ground positions. Nico could see the pink proton bombs that were being dropped around everything that was around the square. The explosions were almost like fireworks. The Clones held up there blasters and roared in celebration.

"Wahoo!"

"That's how you do it!"

"About damn time!"

Though they didn't let up from fighting; they were all shouting orders to each other as well.

"Move it, to the front!" Nico shouted to the rest of the Clones as he walked toward Obi-Wan, who was sitting on the ground in the same place that he left him.

Nico walked to the Jedi's side, not celebrating with the rest of the Clones. "Are you alright?" The Ghost King questioned.

Obi-Wan grunted. "I'll be alright after a night in a bacta tank," he said. "You handled yourself well out there."

Nico smirked, "Commanding Clones is way better then commanding droids, the fact that they have a drive to want to fight another day helps as well, much better than fighting alongside some droid."

Kenobi raised an eyebrow but didn't pry. Just then, Nico felt a familiar presense that he knew quite well. Ahsoka. Nico turned around to find Ki-Adi, Anakin and Ahsoka, lightsabers ignited with troop reinforcements and a scary assassin droid behind them. Help had come.

"Master Kenobi, Nico," Ahsoka greeted, Nico grinned and winked at her, causing her to blush, this went unnoticed by the other Jedi.

"Well, what happened to you?" Anakin asked his former Master in a teasing tone.

Kenobi scoffed, "I might ask you the same question." The Jedi retorted.

Nico decided to join in, "Like I said on the Cruiser Skywalker, we would be holding out until you finally arrive." He said with a smirk.

Anakin shrugged, "Yeah, but I called in the airstrike which saved you from being overrun,"

Obi-Wan rolled his eyes, "You're impossible," He said with a small grunt. "Cody, bring me the holoprojector and the battle plans for the next attack."

"Yes, sir," The Commander replied reaching into his belt and putting a data chip into the holoprojector. The familiar sight of the shielded factory took shape as Obi-Wan started to explain the plan.

"Our combined forces should be enough to destroy the shield generator," he started, still sitting by the crate. "Anakin, you'll need to take a small squad through the shield as close as you can get to their gun emplacements. From there, you'll be able to temporarily jam the guns scanners to where they are unable to target the incoming tanks. Once the tanks knock out the shield, Master Mundi and I can bring the rest of the troops in with the gunships."

"Consider it done, master." Anakin replied. "Nico, Ahsoka and I will go."

Nico smirked and turned to Rex. "Mobilise the tanks, Captain," The Ghost King ordered.

The Captain snapped a salute without any hint of hesitation, "Yes, sir," and ran to the artillery sergeant.

"I'll go find some troops that are willing to go," Nico said without even looking back at the Jedi and walked off.

Line break

Nico, Anakin and Ahsoka had a squad of twelve troops ready to go. The tanks by now had already started to move toward the shield.

After about an hour, the strike team reached the shield. The tanks were right behind them, just out of firing range of the enemy cannons. The twelve troops that Nico had bought along were anxious and awaiting the orders to attack.

But eventually Nico wrist comm activated, "Begin the attack." Anakin, Nico and Ahsoka turn on their lightsabers at exactly the same time. They turned out of the rock formation and sprinted towards the shield.

Immediately after they penetrated the shield, they were under fire from turrets and Geonosians alike. The first sentry turrets had took out the Clones in the back. Though they didn't stop running; they had to get to cover as fast as they could before they lost more troops. Nico was blocking the bolts that were coming from the front.

Two more Clones were taken away by flying Geonosians. The Clones were blasting anything that moved in the rocks. When the small strike team got closer to the shield, the cannons started firing on them. There blasts sent shockwaves through Nico's body and almost knocked him over. They ran a few more paces before they got to a narrow bridge. The strike team crossed it and could see the shield generator straight ahead.

The strike team crouched by a bank under a rock, and Nico glance up over the rock to see what they were up against.

There were five orbital strike cannons that were aimed at the team of Jedi and Clones, fifteen sonic turrets and hundreds of Geonosian warriors.

"Jam there scanners!" Nico shouted to the other two Jedi. "Droid poppers now!"

Nico took an EMP grenade from his belt, armed and ready. The three Jedi threw the grenades, and with the help of the Force, found there marks. A second later, the EMP blast was sent to the orbital cannons and they suddenly stopped firing. "Looks like its working," Ahsoka said, glancing over her shoulder.

"It won't last long," Anakin warned.

Nico brought his comlink up to his face, "Rex!" He said through the comm, "Bring in the tanks."

"Yes, sir," Came the reply. Nico heard the faint sound of the tanks firing their main guns at the shield generator and its emplacements. Nico looked over the rock to see that the cannons had reengaged there scanners, but it was too late. The AT-TE tanks had destroyed all of them and had begun firing on the generator itself. Soon after a couple of hits, the top rock spear of the shield generator had fallen off and crumpled into the dishes that were sending out the shield. The fall had destroyed all the turrets and Geonosians that were standing by the generator. The shield had receded and three gunships began to approach the strike team, guns ablaze. They were making their landing quickly to send out Ki-Adi and the Clone reinforcements. The surviving Geonosians had surrendered once they realised that they have most certainly lost.

Line break

The battle was officially over. The Republic had begun bringing medical teams and other reinforcements from other captured parts of the planet to their positions to create another plan to take the droid factory. Obi-Wan and Ki-Adi wouldn't be a part of the plan since they had to spend the next day in a bacta tank.

Anakin was helping Ibo-Wan into an evac gunship with Master Mundi and a few other Clones, Nico and Ahsoka ran up to meet Anakin. "So, Master," She said with a hint of a contest coming on. "What was your total?" Nico smirked, Brilliant, even now, it's still a contest.

Anakin grunted, "Not now Ahsoka."

"Come on," Ahsoka said in a teasing tone, "Are you afraid you lost this time?" She asked with a smile.

"Fine," he said. "Fifty-five. That's my count. And you?"

Ahsoka stopped short of the gunship. "Sixty," She replied with a proud smile. "Looks like I won,"

"Yeah," Anakin said, somewhat unsurely, as he help Obi-Wan onto the gunship. "But I called in the airstrike. Tie."

Nico snorted, "You don't like losing do you Skywalker?"

Kenobi just shook his head in exasperation, "I will never understand how you can simplify these battles into some kind of game."

Anakin just rolled his eyes, "Well, take care of your selves. I would like to see you both here by the time I've destroyed the main factory."

"We shall do our best," Obi-Wan said, bracing himself on Ki-Adi's shoulder.

"Sixty-five, Skywalker." Master Mundi said with a small amused smile on his face, making both Nico and Anakin blink in confusion.

"Um, sorry?" Anakin asked.

"My total, sixty-five," The Master elaborated. "So what do I win?"

Nico looked at Anakin with a barely concealed grin, "Yeah Skywalker, what does he win?"

Anakin glared at Nico and bit his lip nervously. Then a small smile appeared on his face.

He bowed slightly and said, "My everlasting respect, Master Mundi."

"Oh," the Jedi Master said, as if expecting something more.

"That is a gift Anakin rarely bestows," Obi-Wan said. "I assure you."

The gunship's engines started to warm up as the doors closed and the ship flew to the nearest Acclamator ship. Anakin and Nico walked back to Ahsoka. Rex had just come up behind them and saluted to Anakin. "Let's take this factory down," Skywalker said as they walked to the base camp just outside the factory. The factory looked a hell of a lot bigger in person, probably the biggest droid factory that Nico had ever seen. And he had no idea on how they were going to take it down.

Okay, I think you noticed that half way through this chapter I stopped changing to Ki-Adi Mundi, Anakin and Ahsoka, the reason why is because I got to lazy and wrote the battle with Nico and the Clones battling the Geonosians, I know that isn't much of an excuse but give me some credit, it was an incredibly confusing battle to write.

Anyway, I hope you liked the little banter between Nico and HK, and I promise there will be more, and it will get funnier as time moves on.

Oh yeah, seeing how none of you even bothered with answering my question on the last chapter I shall ask it again. Should I make Boba Fett a good guy?

Another great read. Hmm. Can't beleive I missed that finer little detail in Sidious part
That Master Vos reminded me quite a lot of Nico and Anakin. Nico and him could be great friends. Reading the memories of stones and the likes... talk about an usual ability for tracking and crime solving.
So the Hutt is dead huh? And killed by a normal sword, huh? Didn't see that one coming. I'm guessing the killer and threat Sidious is feeling is somehow related to Nico.
Interesting fight between the Jedi and Cad Bane. Think he got quite a shock when Nico burned him there in the end.
Heh, Nico had a fair point... they could just have asked who Darth Tyranus is. He could have answered them right away.
And that droid seems like a really funny one.
Loved the action and the comic relief along the way.
Redeem Boba... does he even appear in the Clone Wars?

Thank you for the compliments on my story. Yes the killer and the threat that Sidious feels are somewhat related. As for Boba, yes he does appear on the Clone wars, he tries to kill Windu several times and becomes one of the youngest Bounty Hunters.
