I look at the pages, then I turn to Bonnie, Finn, and Jake.
"She's still alive," I say, "or at least she can be."
Finn lights up, "Another human?"
I shrug, "I think she's like Simon. Once human, not now. And Susan could also be human- they evacuated to the sewers."
I show them the photo of Betty.
Jake says, "Finn, let's go look for."
Finn and Jake leave. Bonnie and I sit in silence for a while.
"Do you want to go get tea?" she says.
I nod- and we leave. We head to the Candy Kingdom; and to the castle. We're in one of the bigger rooms of the castle, but there isn't much in there. Just a few tables and chairs, and a few art pieces. Peppermint Butler comes in with a tea tray. He places it on the table, bows, and leaves the room.
This reminds me when we were younger; I had never been much of a tea drinker, but little Bonnie made me dress up and drink tea with her. She'd gather round all her toys and put them in the other seats. Then we'd sit, drink tea, and make memories. We must have had a tea three times a week.
I smile, thinking back, then I say, "Remember the first time you made me drink tea?"
She laughs, "How could I forget? You spat it out on my dress. It still has the stain."
I nod, laughing, "I miss those days. I bet there's a lot I missed out on here."
Bonnie just nods. We delve back into that dreadful silence.
"Do you know who or what Betty is?" I ask to fill it.
She shrugs, "No, I'll do some research after our tea."
I nod… then silence. Nothing more was said. She just finishes her tea and leaves. I sit for a moment before heading out to search myself.
