Three months prior:
They had finally taken a break, their bodies spent after a long night of pure physical and raw, carnal sex and the two finally needed to rest. Ren lay with his back to Hux, staring at the wall. He enjoyed their times together like this but now it almost seemed to hurt him…was that all he was good for to Hux? A way of relieving stress. Ren was about to doze off when Hux's voice broke the still air of the room, the only light coming in from the distant stars through the large observation windows of the room.
"What's it like though?" Hux asked.
"What's what like?" Ren asked in return.
There was silence.
"Being like that?"
Ren was silent, he felt tears sting his eyes as he lay there. It wasn't that he was unsure of his answer he just wasn't sure how Hux would take the following words.
"Terrifying…" Ren finally spoke.
There was more silence, the sound of Hux's breathing filling the room and Hux felt the bed shake from Ren's powers vibrating through it. Was he okay? Hux thought as he stared up at the ceiling before Ren spoke again.
"It's lonely…being the monster…that parents tell their kids about at night…it's cold, empty and lonely like the blackness of space."
Hux felt the sting of the words before he looked over and gently trailed his fingers along Ren's shoulder. Ren suddenly turned and pulled Hux to him in a tight embrace, the two embracing each other as if it was the last thing they would ever know. Hux felt the tears trickle down Ren's face onto his own and he hugged Ren tighter to him under the blankets.
"You're not alone Ren…space may be black and big and empty but it's not lonely. You're not alone, just the like the stars that fill the void of space, they dance around one another, never alone so long as another light lay out there in their sight, they are not alone. Just like you are not alone so long as you have me."
Hux gently whipped away the tears that fell from Ren's eyes and the knight could only curl himself closer to the general. He buried his face in Hux's neck, never wanting to lose the feeling of Hux near him. He would be lost if ever lost Hux, he would truly be lonely then.
