Moving, am I right guys?
Yeah, not gonna make excuses. You can just expect more frequent updates now that life is slowly adjusting and I am posting two chapters today. Enjoy, peeps.
Naomi looked around the hallway as she was dragged around. Everything in the compound had gone to hell. Tables were flipped, documents scattered, objects were broken, and not to mention the bloody mess of the bodies lying in a heap on the linoleum floor. She broke eye contact nervously and examined the man that still had an iron grip on her hand, leading her through the destroyed facility. He had the angry, troubled look on his face again.
"Paxton," she began. His face softened at the sound of her gentle voice. "What is happening?" He didn't even look at her. He just continued to walk forward.
"I will explain later," he said, not really caring about her concern. Naomi used every bit of force she had and yanked her hand away from his grip. Both he and his guards stopped. Paxton turned to her, raising an eyebrow at her.
"No, you will tell me now or I am not going with you." She was bluffing. Of course she would go with him. She had nowhere else to go and he was her one way ticket to revenge and freedom. He smirked at her audacity as he grabbed her arm again, this time not letting Naomi escape his grip again.
"When I was fourteen," he began. "I was transferred to a project dubbed Perseus." Naomi struggled to keep up with his fast stride. "When Mother could no longer provide Armacham with soldiers, they had to use more⦠artificial means." Paxton didn't break his gaze from the path ahead of him as Naomi listened intently. They crashed through a set of double doors and were now outside. "Armacham wanted a psychic commander to lead their Replica Soldiers. Since Brother was a failed experiment, I was their most viable option. Mother has made contact with me once again. We are separate, yet we are one. I am going to set her free." Naomi gave a concerned look, but stayed silent. "Now, we must hurray. Armacham will undoubtedly bring back up. We don't have a lot of time."
Naomi looked around at her surroundings. It was a grungy city that polluted the sky and rid the night of its stars. Even though it was dirty, she marveled at the sight. She couldn't remember the last time she was actually outside of the city.
"Where are we?" she asked with awe. Paxton raised an eyebrow at her.
"We are in Auburn."
