Once we arrived at the store, we all got out of the car and headed into the store. Esme grabbed a carriage and started walking.
"We tend to buy non-perishables so we can later donate them to a food bank." She told me as she sent Alice and I off in different directions. I was sent towards the canned food and as I was stacking a few into my basket I heard a voice I hadn't heard in ninety-five years.
"Bella?" I whirled around. Shocked at the voice. There stood Mike Newton, with blood red eyes.
"Mike?!" I was shocked. Mike was a vampire. How was this possible?
"Bella? You're a vampire." He said.
"Yes." I said hesitantly.
"This is great. Now we can be together forever." He said a little too excitedly as he grabbed my hand before continuing.
"I mean I see your eyes are gold, but we will get you off of animal blood easily enough, all it takes is one little human. I'll pick one out for you." He said. I yanked my hand away from his and backed up a few steps. He followed me.
"Mike. I don't want to be with you. I already have a mate. I am perfectly happy with my diet. Thank you very much." I said as I continued to back up. His eyes narrowed.
"It's Cullen. Isn't it." He said.
"I knew I should've killed him when I saw him all those years ago." He continued as he walked towards me. I turned around and ran as fast as I could without exposing myself to the humans before I found Esme.
"Esme. We have to go now. Mike Newton is here. He's a vampire and I think he wants to kill either me or Edward or both. She left the shopping cart in the aisle and we headed for the car as quickly as we could. She called out for Alice at a vampire hearing level to meet us at the house as we left. We got into the car as we drove home quickly. She parked and we were both out of the car as soon as it stopped. Edward met us at the door having heard Esme's thoughts.
"Are you alright? Did he hurt you?" He asked me worriedly.
"Not yet. But I am afraid he might try to." I said. He wrapped his arms around me in a comforting hug. I stiffened as I heard quick footsteps coming towards the house. Luckily it was just Alice.
"He's following me. I ran around the woods a few times to confuse him but he will be here soon." She told us. We prepared to fight. We went out into the yard figuring it was better to fight him there. I stood next to Edward who hadn't wanted me to fight because of the pregnancy but I insisted saying that I'd put my physical shield over my stomach while fighting. He reluctantly agreed. I could see the blur that was Mike Newton coming towards us finally stopping right in front of us.
