Chapter 6: Outclassed
(Arc II: A Monument To All Of My Sins)
Sasuke Uchiha is a prodigy, not on the same class as his brother (much to his annoyance), but he was still a prodigy. His mind calculated and understood things at a much faster rate than others, however he was not arrogant. He knew he was not anywhere near his brother's level or his cousin, and the constant ass-kicking he got from their spars reaffirmed that. He was taught to analyze opponents objectively not allowing his pride to cloud his judgment. Which, is why he never got annoyed when Kakashi focused on Naruto because he understood why. His sensei just could not train him as Itachi or Shisui could; Naruto on the other hand was the perfect candidate for his training. Naruto was malleable and flexible, he had no parent or clansmate forcing him to learn anything in a specific way. Kakashi could teach him any which way he desired. It made sense to the young Uchiha; jealousy would still rear its ugly head, but that was only normal. He was just thankful Naruto was strong. He cared for the blonde, and was livid when he found out about his mistreatment. To Sasuke, family was the most important thing, and to hear that the Namikaze basically threw Naruto to the wolves annoyed him greatly. There was not much he could do however, and he knew it. He figured the only thing he could do is stand by his friend. Thus, he let him take control of the team with no fight. When he told him to take on the pink haired guy, Sasuke immediately jumped to do so. Figuring that Naruto wanted to split and conquer, it was a testament to the Uchiha's faith in the blonde that he left him with the obvious leader of the three shinobi from Yosei.
I'll finish this guy then go back and help Naruto, was Sasuke's thought as he stood across from Natsu.
Flowing through hand seals, Sasuke unleashes a fireball the size of a house at Natsu; Natsu allows himself to get swallowed up by the inferno. In the next second, the fireball is in turn swallowed by Dragneel. Sasuke's eyes widen at this.
He ate it?!
"hahaHahaHAHAHAHAHA, oh man that fireball was tasty! You're a strong one! Just thinking about this fight is getting me FIRED UP!" Natsu roars and then his whole body is lit in flames.
He then blitzes at Sasuke with speed that Sasuke can barely keep up with. Bringing up his arms to block the incoming charge, Sasuke notes the scale-like appearance of his opponent. Natsu's inflamed fist met Sasuke's forearm and pushed the Uchiha back a couple yards.
Such incredible strength!
Natsu grins cockily at the Uchiha before moving to continue his assault; he rushes the Uchiha fist first and this time Sasuke moves slightly to allow the arm to sail past harmlessly. Sasuke then throws a open palm at the dead center of Natsu's chest and connects. Natsu grunts in discomfort but otherwise shows no sign of any damage, he then grabs Sasuke's forearm and hurls him. While mid-air Sasuke is met with an axe kick from Natsu that drives him painfully into the ground.
Dust rises from the crater where Sasuke met the ground obscuring Natsu's vision. However, Natsu was not careless and runs through hand seals before tilting his head back and puffing his cheeks.
Roar of the Flame Dragon!
He then lets out a roar and flames erupt from his mouth into the dust. Natsu stares down at the crater with silence oddly serious despite his usual goofy attitude.
This is no time for games...Ezra may need my help! Natsu mutters in his mind.
The dust is forcefully cleared by the fire and shows a heavily burned crater, however there is no body nor scent of a body being burnt. This puts the young Yosei shinobi on edge but merely being on edge doesn't stop Sasuke from appearing behind him and kicking him in the face. Natsu goes flying and corrects himself in air before landing on a nearby branch. He opens his mouth to question the Uchiha on his escape, however he never got the question out as Sasuke appears in front of him with his fingers entwined and his cheeks already puffed up. In the next second, Natsu is once again engulfed in flames and Sasuke sees the dragon-like shinobi's smirk. This time though Sasuke smirks as well.
Natsu absorbs the flames once again and grins cockily at the Uchiha.
"I know all about you Uchiha! All of you Uchiha love fire so much! Yet, none of you truly understand the flames like I do! I am one with the flames and no fire can hurt me!"
Sasuke simply stares at Natsu before chuckling.
"What's so funny?"
The Uchiha puts up a single hand seal and then all Natsu knows is pain.
"I'm not your average Uchiha, pinky. What you ate wasn't everyday fire, it was fire mixed with a small amount of electricity, that small amount of electricity usually would do nothing to an average person but connected with another source, my hand seal for example, they could do more damage. Even then it does not do much...unless of course the electricity is inside your body. The electricity inside felt the electricity I produced with the hand seal and then connected to it...causing an electric current to be formed...using your body as the medium." Sasuke then walks up to the trembling shinobi, and says,
"I didn't even use my Sharingan against you...perhaps against any other Uchiha you would be effective but against me….you were just outclassed."
Sasuke then stomps his foot on the head of Natsu, knocking him out; he then turns around and jumps toward where his other teammates are, hoping they defeated their opponents as well.
A/N: Damn..it's been awhile. Sorry for taking so long….but life came in the way. However, i'm back and will be updating every story. Hopefully once every week. This chapter is short and so will be the next one detailing Sakura's fight. I want to expand on both Sasuke and Sakura as I feel I have neglected them. Expect the next update for ToR relatively quickly due to it's short length. I'm a senior now and I've recently been accepted to my first choice college so I've had time to reflect on my life. I want to come back to FF and give it my all. So, that's what I am doing. Please critique me as you wish...I want to build better fight scenes. Once again, I apologize for my absence.
