Chapter 2: A Daring Rescue
The crashing and tingling of glass brought Darcy out of her slumber. Her head snapped up hoping that whatever had happened to her was a horrible nightmare, but it wasn't. Darcy was still hanging above the same pile of bones, in the same spot with the same sociopath.
"Raphie!" She heard Crimson purr.
There must have been someone who entered from the broken window.
Darcy tried very hard to see what was happening but a large concrete poll blocked her sight. The hazel eyed beauty decided that if she could not see then she would try to hear what was going on.
"Don't call me Raphie, You fuckin' freak!" A man with a thick Brooklyn accent replied. He sounded very angry but not loud, like his teeth were gritted as he said that.
"Oh Raphie!" Crimson exclaimed, her voice taking on a very seductive tone. "I didn't know we had pet names for each other. We really are a couple aren't we?"
Darcy could hear Crimson hopping up and down, her heels clicking and her hands clapping together.
"Enough!" Another man commanded. His voice was smooth yet strong and full of authority. "Your reign of terror is over Crimson."
Crimson giggled. "Oh Leo, I'm just getting started. I even got a new little pet!"
Darcy's blood ran cold. She thought she was going to die, but Crimson had other plans. Darcy's mind recalled the tall bald woman with the dog collar. Then the man with his empty dead eyes. The hazel eyed beauty began to quietly dry heave. The thought of being turned into one of Crimson's little pets was enough to make her head spin and her stomach lurch. Darcy thought she was going to dieā¦but her fate was exponentially worse.
"Hey dudette are you alright?"
Darcy was startled by the voice. It sounded a bit odd to her ears like the person speaking to her was from a 1980's surfer movie. The burgundy haired beauty snapped her head up and her hazel eyes met with a pair of bright baby blues. Darcy almost screamed, but a three fingered hand covered her mouth.
"Relax babe." The blue eyed thing told her.
Darcy did not try to scream again but her eyes were wide with horror and disbelief. Hanging from the celing was not one but two turtles. They both looked to be about six feet tall and very muscular. There was one with a purple mask across his face. He had one hand gripping a pipe on the celing above him, the other contained a large stick which he held at a downward angle. He also had a dark colored duffle bag slung across his back.
The blue eyed turtle inches away from her face wore an orange mask. Unlike the turtle above him, this one had his arms free. He was hanging from the stick ,the purple banded turtle was holding, from his feet.
"Mikey" The purple masked turtle hissed to the orange masked one below him. "Rescue the girl already! You aren't getting any lighter!"
"Sorry Bro." The orange masked turtle replied to the turtle above him.
He looked deeply into the eyes of the burgundy haired beauty in front of him.
"Listen Dudette," The blue eyed turtles said as he removed his hand from her mouth. "We're goin' to help you, but you have to be quiet. Okay?"
The hazel eyed beauty only nodded.
The orange masked turtle reached from something in the belt around his waist. He fished out a tinny dagger. Darcy looked upon the dagger with curiosity and skepticism that she could be saved by two turtles and a tiny dagger.
"Mikey." The purplemasked turtle hissed again.
"Hold tight babe." The orange masked turtle told Darcy with a wink.
Darcy closed her eyes tight.
In a matter of a few seconds, Darcy heard the slink of metal chains being cut. She felt herself falling but was caught in a pair of strong arms. The burgundy haired beauty did not want to open her eyes but she did. Before her was the same room she had been hanging above but there was something a little different.
Crimson was back in her thrown. There were hundreds of soldiers flanked on her sides. The petite red read was sitting with her elbows on her knees and her head resting in her hands. The smile on her face was just haunting as ever.
The soldiers around her did not move a muscle. They all looked like they were not even breathing either. They all were dressed head to toe in black. They were all bald with lifeless eyes. The whole spectacle reminded Darcy of an army of the undead and at the head of it all was a wicked queen fiercely ready to strike.
The two turtles seemed to be outnumbered. An army of hundreds versus two turtles. Dread filled Darcy's stomach. There was no hope. She was going to die.
Suddenly two more large turtles flanked the other two. The two new turtles looked a lot like the orange and purple masked turtle but wore different colored masks and had different weapons. One was blue and the other was red.
"Wat took ya so long, shell for brains." The red masked turtle asked as he increased his grip on his prong like weapons.
"Hardy har har." The orange masked turtle quipped unhumorously to the prong wielding turtle.
"Knock it off." The blue masked turtle hissed, his eyes never moving from the enemy in front of him.
Crimson and the blue masked turtle's eyes stayed locked on each other. The turtles serious, Crimson smiling sadistically.
"Let my pet go, and I will let you go." Crimson told the blue masked turtle in a singsong voice.
The blue masked turtle did not respond in words but gripped his swords even harder.
"Or I would be willing to trade." Crimson said as her smile turned more devilish and seductive. "My pet for Raphie!"
"Neva gonna happen." The red masked turtle growled.
Crimson's smile grew more and more. "Never say never."
The petite red head brought her hands up from her face. Her eyes shinned wickedly. She snapped her fingers with a flourish. The sound echoed through the room as though it was empty. The sound also echoed through Darcy's ears making the burgundy haired beauty's stomach lurch.
In that instant, the bald black outfitted soldiers sprang into action. They swarmed the turtles. Darcy thought for sure they were goners. The four were outnumbered exponentially.
Darcy felt herself being readjusted in the arm of the orange masked turtle.
"Hold on tight babe." The blue eyed turtle said with a wide smile.
He pulled a pair of sticks attached to a chain and spun them in his hands. One of the soldiers ran up to the orange masked turtle. He had a club gripped firmly in his hands. He swung at the turtle but the orange masked turtle blocked the blow by turning his back on the enemy. The club made a strange sound when it hit the turtles shell.
The orange masked turtle made quick work of the of the soldiers swarming him. He blocked the blows of clubs, bats and chains all while delivering firm kicks and punches. He also used his weapon which made a sickening crack every time he would strike his opponent. He was holding his own against the enemy even with only one arm.
Darcy never once received a hit of a scratch. The turtle would block any strike that came close to harming Darcy. One of the soldiers finally delivered a strong enough blow that sent the turtle to his knees. The orange masked turtle never faltered in his safe and strong hold of Darcy.
"Mikey!" One of the other three cried out.
"I'm okay." The orange masked turtle groaned.
The orange masked turtle rose from his knees. In a few motions, too quick for Darcy's eyes to detect she found herself in the arms of another turtle.
The arms were apple green and a bit leaner than the blue-eyed turtle. This turtle was the one with the blue mask. He had a deep honey colored eyes that were void of emotion and his face was also stoic.
The turtle cradled Darcy against his chest blocking her view of the action. While Darcy couldn't see anything, she could still hear all the grunts of the soldiers, the sickening cracks of wood against bone and the slinking sounds of metal being blocked by wood.
"We have to get out of here." The blue masked turtle said with a grunt as he took out another soldier.
"The only way out is back the way we came." One of the turtles said.
Darcy thought to herself. She had awoken to the sound of broken glass, therefore the turtles had come through the window. But Darcy had entered through a door.
'That's it!' Darcy exclaimed mentally.
"There is more than one way out." Darcy told the blue masked turtle.
"Where?" He asked adjusting her to see the room before them.
It was hard for Darcy to find the door amidst the bodies of soldiers fallen and not. Then past Crimson appeared the door. Darcy almost missed it.
"Behind Crimson." Darcy whispered.
The blue masked turtle only nodded in reply.
In a split matter of seconds the blue masked turtle had signaled to the other three their way out.
"Where are you going?" Darcy heard Crimson say with a laugh. "That's my pet you have there."
"Sorry freak, but we're takin her wit us." The red masked turtle replied.
"Oh Raphie!" Crimson purred. "You're not going anywhere."
Crimson's laugher echoed in Darcy's ears as they made their escape. Darcy felt herself being jostled around while the blue masked turtle ran. She heard the music from the nightclub.
"Brace for impact." The blue masked turtle told Darcy as he pulled her closer to his chest.
Darcy closed her eyes tightly.
The blue masked turtle busted through the entrance of the night club.
Darcy was set on the pavement lightly. She opened her eyes slowly. In the darkness of the alley she could barely make out the turtles in front of her.
"What just happened?" The hazel eyed beauty nearly screamed.
"Uh, we saved you?" The orange masked turtle asked.
"Yes!" Darcy exclaimed. "But what just happened?"
The red masked turtle laughed lowly without humor. "That's wat tha void'll do to ya."
"Are you alright miss?" The purple masked turtle asked as he approached Darcy slowly.
The question caught her off-guard. She was taken prisoner inside of the organization she was trying to investigate. Then she hung from the wall from her wrists. Her wrists! The more Darcy thought about it the more she could feel a stinging pain in her wrists.
Darcy looked at her wrists. There were deep red cuts there and also very dark colored bruises, her hands were also a bit swollen.
The purple masked turtle gently grabbed the uninjured part of Darcy's forearm. He had a small smile on his face and dark kind eyes.
The burgundy haired beauty wanted to flinch away from the soft three fingered hand. The purple masked turtle applied a bit of pressure on her bruises which caused Darcy to hiss out in pain.
"Sorry." The purple masked turtle said in a soft voice. "I have something in my bag that should help."
The turtle searched through his bag and pulled out a tube of Neosporin and some bandages. He gently applied the cream to the deep cuts and wrapped the bandages from the bottom of Darcy's hands till a few inches from her wrists.
"Does that feel better?" The purple masked turtle asked as he put his supplies back into his back.
"Yes." Darcy replied in a small voice.
The turtle had a warm smile still on his face. He pulled out a thermal blanket and wrapped it around her.
"That should keep you warm until the police arrive."
Police? When had the police been called? Darcy looked around finding only her and the purple masked turtle left in the ally.
The purple masked turtle turned to leave but Darcy grabbed him. She hissed out in pain.
"Be careful." The dark eyed turtle scolded her gently. "Movements like that could rip the bandages that I used to close your cuts."
A faint police siren could be heard in the distance.
"I better go." The purple masked turtle said. He gently shrugged off Darcy's hold.
The police sirens could be heard nearing the alley.
The purple masked turtle ran into the darkness of the alley.
"Wait!" Darcy called out into the shadows. "What is your name?"
"Donatello." Was her reply.
