Better late than never? Explanation at the bottom.
If it was a simple world that Yotsuba Tatsuya would simply be a Man with very little faults. In this world though? Who can really say? Is having a Coffee addiction a fault? Is treating your little sister by blood who isn't your sister anymore because of name and political bullshittery and is also your bodyguard/servant like your own little sister a fault? What about the penchant for forgetting people's names on a fanatical whim? No? They aren't? Well, Tatsuya doesn't believe so either. But does Shiba Tatsurou, the man who offered his sperm to Yotsuba Maya? Well, the answer there is totally different. Shiba Tatsurou is terrified of his own son and even with that, he is no allowed to consider him his own son and despite his son's prowess in, well, everything he doesn't want to either.
For a man like Shiba Tatsurou who had a lot in his life, he was set. By the standards of Magicians, he was high-class in a lot of ways. Add into account his intelligence and abilities with CAD and the political side of those things and he was a catch for any Female Magician whether they wanted to build their name up into something more or for either the Ten Clans or Hundred Clans to further consolidate their power by bringing in the Rare Cases to their Family, like was done with him and the Yotsuba, even going as far to 'somewhat' taking him away from his partner to 'donate' his sperm to the Yotsuba Twins. But in the end, it wasn't a great decision for Shiba Tatsurou to accept and even then, if rumours are ever right then he never would have had a chance to begin with. However, in a sort of morbid way, you could say that Shiba Tatsurou had lucked out because he can now finally hunker down and have a family with the woman that he has always loved and continue with the work he does, albeit shadowed completely by his Son under a different alias.
Well, as messed up as his whole scenario is, take the particulars out and his situation was a rather common thing in the current world ruled over by those with High Magical Power and Psion rates. However, as his life has always been, the end result was less than he would have liked. In truth the ends of each length of rope for him have always been superb but he has never been able to get the right level of exposure for it. For the example, look at Yotsuba Tatsuya and Shiba Miyuki. As a both a Father and a Magician, there is no man in the current world who'd not be proud and happy to be their parent and that's even before knowing what other's shouldn't know about them.
Like it's been mentioned a couple times now, In the end, Yotsuba Tatsuya doesn't even know that Shiba Tatsurou is technically his Father. Would it matter to Tatsuya if he knew that? Well, the answer would probably turn out as a fault of Tatsuya's. Does it matter to Yotsuba Maya if Tatsuya knows who is Father is? Now, that's definitely something that needs quite a bit of historical detail before it's resolutely answered in a word or two.
Yotsuba Maya, in a very abstract way, is a lot like Shiba Tatsurou, only that the bad things were incredibly bad and things that a lot of people wouldn't bounce back from like say, being kidnapped and tortured, seeing your fiancé's eye being cut out and then raped when not giving information only to when return have your fiancé and his family to rescind the engagement and your family to go on a vendetta and kill well over a half of the upper echelon in the enemy group that did all the bad things to you and in the process lose your Father. Yeah, abstract but in a very worse way. In the World of Magicians, with those who can alter memories and feelings, it was somewhat less impactful as it really should be by the end of it all or rather because it had the Yotsuba's in the thick of it, it became something different at the end of it. Where it should have simply been about Yotsuba Maya herself and the great fact that she came back alive while holding in hope that she could stay strong despite the bad things that happened to her, it turned into utter carnage with China and Yotsuba become some sort of Ascended Concept within the Ten Master Clans, an Immovable Absolute Power, very much like a Volcano. Only a Strategic-Class Magician could deal with them and from afar at that. The Yotsuba become Untouchable and Yotsuba Maya becomes the Head of the Clan and goes on to become One of the World's Strongest Magicians and becoming a Sage. Guess what? Just like Tatsurou about being Tatsuya's Father, hardly anyone knows about Yotsuba Maya being One of the Seven Sages. No, people only know her as a Terrifying Beauty. Much like a Demon or even a Succubus.
A Woman of practically no feelings and emotion for others, all she is none for is nothing good. She is simply known as the Demon of the East. The one you should fear in Japan. And this is who Tatsuya's Mother is. Couple Yotsuba Maya with Shiba Tatsurou and is Tatsuya's Prowess in everything that hard of a concept to understand? Especially when it seems to be that the Yotsuba get stronger with each generation? No, not in the slightest and while it's seen as a good thing in terms of how Magicians should progress, it creates a problem for everyone. Those who fear Yotsuba, the Others in the Ten Master Clans, China and indeed the World itself. When something gets stronger and stronger like this, it puts the World on edge because who knows what could happen. The Yotsuba's may seem to be reclusive in their nature but what's to say that they aren't further consolidating their power behind closed walls? Who is to say that they aren't planning World Domination at all? If the Top Defensive Magicians, the Juumonji with their Phalanx have massive problems against the Demon's Signature Magic then what good would anyone bar the Strongest be against Yotsuba? Especially when Yotsuba has One of or possibly the Strongest in this Demon? Further still when they have a Prodigy like Miyuki or the Dynamo that is Yotsuba Tatsuya.
It leads onto becoming a very, very surreal thing. How do you stop something like that without an insane mass of collateral damage? Poison and Assassinations. But simply how do you do that against the One of the Ten Master Clans that seems to live in the Shadows themselves? You don't. That means that severe collateral damage is the only option you have left but in turn, that takes out the upstanding Magicians and the Normal Civilians that are needed for everyone to go on with their lives and for Magicians to go on and continue on with their crafts, to improve and see that the Future is kind to their kin.
Perhaps you could go down the Saegusa route. A subtle injection. A long road, if you will. To slowly soften from the inside, to implant suggestions that stray from what they typically take, to choose routes that the other clans would take. Bring them back down to normality and possibly make it so that nothing violent needs to be done at all while merging clans in an effectual way. Perhaps it's one generation late and a bit of a kick in the teeth but it's something that would be considered advantageous to either side because in the end, who is to say that just while those intentions could be made clear, what's to say that the Yotsuba wouldn't lure them in with some false senses and then turn them against those they originally were. Make them more and more potent, make them something unrecognisable below the surface. Turn an Angel into a Demon.
Perhaps this was what was done with Shiba Tatsurou but rather than him becoming a Demon himself, he became a Slave. They had him in everything but physical chains. One wrong move could spell the end of everything he knows and loves. So he works for them. Behind the scenes, never for his work to see the light of day that it should and he'd never get the true recognition that he'd deserve.
Well, what would you really expect when the Yotsuba is concerned?
Well, I can't say much about being so late with a chapter other than sorry. Pretty sure it's around the year mark since I last updated any of my stories and this one being the story that was updated last and well, as you all know Life is utter hell. But for this story, it's got a nice little chunk to blame about the lateness.
Ya'see, when I was going back over my notes for this story and reviewing my little storyboard, I came to some conclusions that somethings were either too much or didn't have enough. I won't spoil it all but for example, AYAME at the end of the last chapter, with how I introduced them they didn't have a sufficient emphasis on the story when I was going to bring them in so I had to add extra things for that and then take away elsewhere if it didn't fit with the new additions and then i had to revise other future parts to fit in with that before moving onto the next point and then editing it all from there. A whole lot of trial and error alongside the massacring of a poor tree for all the physical notage.
This chapter is an info dump break from the story so I could tell all of you guys about the small renovations i'm doing for the future. Not that important for you guys to really know outside of that I realised my misgivings and there'll be things that you won't have as many questions over. The next proper chapter however, I really have no idea on the time frame for. The one that I had already drafted up, I had to get rid of entirely. It ended up getting rewrote 9 additional times from there afterwards before I decided to give up on it and give this information chapter which I had originally planned for just after, so a chapter later than it actually is now. I'm not exactly happy about having to make an additional switch because of how hard i've had to work with it to get it back in sufficient order for releasing but what can you do, it still fits this way as you'll see when the next chapter hits.
These info chapters are going to be Two per arc and I won't be necessarily making each canon arc into it's own arc. There will be parts when i split them up into multiple arcs because of original content and parts where i differ heavily to contribute to different points. So they'll be overall the same arc but different specific which what i'm going for. Which you can see in the Chapter names. Plans are to have One Yotsuba Chapter and One Special Chapter to note anything else of importance.
So, i'll see you all next time.
Ciao~!
Edit:- Alright so I didn't think i'd have to edit so quickly about this chapter. It seems that there might be a problem with 'Angels and Demon' so for the Anon that reviewed and further possible reviewers, it's simply a turn of phrase that i'm using for comparison's sake. I'm not saying that they are that or not but Yotsuba Maya has an Epithet of Demon/Devil and in that turn, normal Magicians would be Angels so it's simply for comparison. I know what the Saegusa are capable of and I know what others are capable of, i've mentioned in prior chapters alongside the end A/N just above this edit that i've gone back and had to change things even along the line for the story so i know just how bad the others can be. Heck, i've even mentioned in this chapter about Tatsurou about how his life is similar but differs to others in his situation.
Don't get me wrong with how I may have worded this edit. I'm not angry about the misinterpretation because it shows that people are thinking into what i've wrote with their interpretations but please take into account what else i've wrote. So basically, please, I implore you to re-read everything before you make a review because sometimes you question something that isn't even there or that has already been answered in kind.
