Stay With Me
Chapter 3
The hustle of Narita airport was the same as she once remembered it. It was seven years since she has been back to her birth country and she couldn't have felt more at home. She was raised to be polite at all times and to see the good in all people because that is the basis of our being. She was raised by her wonderful mother and the thought of her mother excited her because there is always the possibility that she might not survive this fruitful year and she would see her again.
She waited in the baggage carousel for her luggage. She only had one bag left to wait for. On her left she saw a small child holding hands with what she assumed is her mother. The little girl was wearing a fleece blush jacket and the hand that wasn't holding on to her mother was holding a plush toy that looked like a rabbit, or maybe that was a poodle.
The little girl yawned and the mother saw. The mother tugged on the little girl's hand and she looked up. They both smiled at each other. The little girl scooted closer to her mother and laid her head to her side. It was picture perfect. Almost too intimate to be looked on by a stranger in the airport. She felt insecure. She always wanted to have a child with Syaoran. It was their dream together to build a happy family and be in the greatest city in the world with their close friends nearby.
The building of the dream started okay. They got married almost a year after they graduated from college. She was working as a paralegal at one of Tokyo's top firms and he was making his way to the top at the business district of Tokyo. The engagement was a dream come true for her. It wasn't over the top because she knew that Syaoran knows that she's very practical. Special occasions does not necessarily need to be expensive for it to be extra special. She just wanted the right people at the right time with her.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when a man excused himself to get his luggage. She gave the man a small smile and made way for him to get his suitcase. As he was putting his suitcase down she saw her bag getting closer to where she was. She reached for her bag but the man was kind enough to get it for her.
"This is your bag?" He said with a thick British accent.
"Yes, thanks." She said and that was when she got to take a look at him fully. He reminded her of her brother. He was tall and lean, with the exception of his eyes and hair which were an exceptional shade of gray, or maybe even silver.
No, she thought. It couldn't be.
"Well, are you still waiting for any luggage?" He asked. He seemed oddly familiar. He was smiling at her. Almost, too fondly for a stranger she just met at the airport.
"No, this is it." Now she was just looking at him curiously. She couldn't help herself but ask, "I'm sorry, but have we met before?"
She heard him chuckle. "I believe we have. I'm Yukito's brother."

Paging all residents, paging all residents. Please come to the emergency department at once.
He finished charting and grabbed his stethoscope. He looked at one of the nurses and said thanks. "Please, don't forget to change the IV drip this time."
The nurse blushed a little and nodded. He made his way to the emergency department. What was it this time, he thought. This day just keeps getting better and better. He wanted this job since he was a kid but he didn't know it would be a hard feat to overcome. He loved saving lives, at least, that's what he thought he was doing but it didn't quite fit. He was helping people get better, that was it. That was the correct description of who he was. He wasn't a hero, he was just knowledgeable enough to make people's live better.
He sighed when he saw the disaster that laid in front of him in the trauma room. There was an accident or so it seemed.
"Dr. Kinomoto! Room C, head trauma with the possibility of an internal bleeding. Unconscious as of now, Plain NSS started at KVO and a right arm fracture."
He scanned through the chart and fought back a smile. This was the rush he was looking forward to. He felt something vibrate in his pocket, but the moment he saw the man lying on the bed he decided to check on his phone later.
"Go get Isla, and prep the OR please. Set up for a craniotomy but get me a non-contrast head CT first."

They sat in the nearest Starbuck's they could find because he heard her stomach growl while they were getting acquainted after almost a decade of not seeing each other. He always saw her as the little sister they never had. Once he moved to England he always found the time to check up on her through his brother Yukito. He was so glad that Syaoran had the guts to finally ask for her hand in marriage. It should have been a sight to see. Touya will always be the overprotective brother that he is no matter how old Sakura gets.
But he also knew of the current situation. He just got off the phone with Yukito before he saw that auburn head making way to the baggage carousel. His little brother got some of Touya's brotherly instincts when it came to Sakura. They were all protective of her, that he must admit.
He didn't know Syaoran much, but he knew that if Touya and Yukito approved of him, he must be very adamant on making Sakura happy. Because Sakura's happiness is the basis of their brotherly instincts. He looked at her and smiled. She smiled back and sighed.
"I would never have known that we would see each other again. You didn't show up at the wedding!" She accused.
He put my hands up in defeat. "I'm sorry but that's one of the downsides of med school."
"You too? Touya's on his second year of residency." Shock was clearly evident on her voice. "I thought you were studying law!"
"I thought I was going to pursue that field too, but it's not for me. I hate memorizing laws." He chuckled.
She rolled her eyes, "As if you memorize less in med school!"
He saw her stand up and heard her ask, "I'll get us drinks, what do you want?"
I raised my hand to offer that I should get the drinks, but even before I could say anything she said, "No, I'll get us drinks."
He sighed in defeat and said, "Grande cappuccino please." He saw her face brighten and heard her say okay and bounced off to the counter.
He watched her as she waited in line. Even as the world is turning against her, she still had the courage to smile and be positive. She's too precious for this world, he thought. He couldn't resist thinking how he would bash Syaoran's face when he sees him.

He settled his hand on his steering wheel and sang along Twenty One Pilot's hit playing on the radio. He was making his way home from an exhausting day at work. He never knew that social inclusion was part of being a photographer. It's not that he's not good at making conversations, but it was one of the few things he avoided.
He felt his phone vibrate and thankfully the traffic light turned red.
I am with Sakura now. Remind me to come with you when you go see Syaoran. It read.
He put his phone down. He made a point to update Yue of what's happening in Sakura's life. And yesterday, it was just right that he vented out his frustration to his brother or else he wouldn't have been able to control himself while he was on the phone with the son of a bitch. His hold tightened a little on the steering wheel. A couple of turns more and he was finally home, he thought. The feeling of his warm sheets and a shower made his frustrations diminish. He just didn't expect to see another car parked in front of his driveway. He knew that black cadillac, and he didn't like having to see the asshole hunched on the stairs of his porch.

She made a beeline towards the cashier. She felt her chest constrict. Not again, she thought. It was always hard to concentrate when there's that sudden burden on your chest. It was getting difficult to breath but she focused on the task at hand. It shouldn't be hard to get a cappuccino and an iced chocolate.
She looked back and saw Yue smiling at her. She smiled back and raised a hand as if to say just wait a moment. She saw him nod and as she turned her head back from him she didn't bother hiding the grimace that graced her face. The sound of coffee makers buzzing, ice being crushed, and drinks being shaken were almost too loud for her now. Everything is becoming more and more accentuated by the second. There was a woman in front of her ordering a difficult frappe. Well, she deduced it was difficult as the barista was leaning forward from the counter and a slightly strained smile was on his face.
She heard him repeat the order, she focused on hearing the order to get her mind off the increasing weight on her chest. It was a white chocolate mocha decaf, low fat skimmed milk, with one packet of sugar, and no whipped cream. She mentally pat herself on the back. See, that wasn't so hard, she thought.
She took a deep breath and took a step towards the counter. She looked at the barista. He's young. Maybe a college student, part timing in the most outrageous location a Starbuck's could be found. She looked at his name tag, Ryu it read. She forced a smile and told him his order. She didn't exactly hear what he was saying but she thought that there's a sudden relief that flooded his face. He seemed to not mind that she was out of it.
Suddenly, there was a hand in front of her face. She blinked once, or maybe twice, her vision was dimming all of a sudden. She obliged herself to open her eyes. The hand was moving up and down as if shaking her from a trance. She didn't notice that she was now holding the line, with her hands in front of the counter and her eyes were closed. How long was she standing there, she was distraught. She felt a hand on her waist and shoulder and she looked up to see Yue's worried face. That was the last thing she saw.
