You all are so, so very wonderful. I am so glad to finally get another chapter up. I managed to fill various pages in various journals for new chapters...now I just have to organized them in order to get more chapters up haha! I love you all.

P.S. Thank you reviewer for pointing out that the chapter did not indicate a flash back. I forget that doc manager doesn't always convert the document the way I need it too. But I fixed it, thank you!

As he made his way to the door, the woman stood in the doorway but stepped aside to let him out. He found himself looking at her, he wasn't sure if it was his sleep deprivation or the effect of his hangover, but something about her made his gut sink a little. InuYasha looked away as he stood outside his office, it was too bright not only from the fluorescent light but the large glass windows that coated the building allowed plenty of natural light.

"Are you ready, sir?" Kagome would ask as she shut the door for him, she stood to the side of him. No response was made by him.

Kagome gave him an unreadable expression briefly before simply responding with a nod and a smile. Kagome would begin walking down the hall, InuYasha following not too far behind. He felt a little disturbed and unsure about this woman. She did not seem fazed by his rude behavior; majority of Sesshomaru's assistants or interns never enjoyed dealing with him because they claimed he was entirely too cruel.

'She won't last.' He thought with a smirk 'They never do.'

As he found himself lost in thought, he felt a light pressure on his arm. This snapped him out of his thoughts back to reality to find his face inches from the elevator door.

'Shit'

He thought that when he looked to the right of him, Kagome stood closely to him. Her hand grasping his arm, once she realized he was aware of him nearly running into the unopened elevator, she released his arm, stepping back away from him.

"You're welcome." She spoke out to him lightly, hitting the up button for the elevator. He looked a bit off at her remark, it was pretty sassy but with a hint of sarcasm. No other remark or noise was made, for some reason, he was biting his tongue.

Ding

The elevator doors opened, with a smooth hum of the unseen machinery. Kagome gestured for InuYasha to enter the elevator; he did with Kagome following not too far behind. They stood silently; new age earthy music filled the dead air in the elevator. Kagome had already hit the right floor button, she would pull her phone out from her pocket, glancing at it before putting it away.

InuYasha had followed Kagome all the way to Sesshomaru's office, an room he was all too familiar with. The room was full of light due to the large panel windows surrounding the room. In the room was Sesshomaru sitting at his desk, most likely skimming through some pointless emails or reviewing contracts that would eventually be sent down to him.

"Good morning, sir" Kagome spoke as they entered an all too familiar office. They walked towards Sesshomaru's desk, the room was filled with the sunlight shining through large paneled windows just like the ones that coated the entire building. Sesshomaru's office had an amazing view of Tokyo.

"So he actually showed up today.." Sesshomaru's melancholy voice spoke from behind his computer screen, most likely just skimming through pointless emails or looking over contracts that would eventually be sent down to his office for proofreading. InuYasha wanted to turn around and walk right out, he did not have the time or patience for his brother's shit. He could feel Sesshomaru's cold stare pierce through from the other side of the computer

He had was mid-turn and ready to walk right out, most likely leave the building and go home but he felt once again some pressure on his elbow and felt crowded. He'd look to his side to once again see Kagome standing very close, her hand gripping his elbow. InuYasha looked at her like she was crazy and had no right to be touching him, yet she went from looking at him without even blinking before smiling in Sesshomaru's direction.

"Yes he was, sir." she walked InuYasha in the direction of Sesshomaru's desk, only to release him once he was at the point of no return, dead center in front of his desk. She would disappear from that moment, leaving just them two. The two deep amber eyes met, shooting daggers at one another.

"Thank you Kagome," Sesshomaru spoke before she had disappeared, he'd look to his younger half brother "Please, take a seat." seconds past, InuYasha stayed standing.

"What do you want."

"Look even though this is our father's legacy, giving you this job was not an act of kindness but because it's what father would have wanted from me." InuYasha looked at him not sure why he was telling him this.

"You have to start doing something though," Sesshomaru kept a steady gaze of his relentless younger half sibling "We do not want you to give our father's company a bad name, now do we?"

"I could just stop showing up."

"Then you would stop getting paid."

"You can't do that."

"Like hell I can," his spoke in his smooth melancholy tone. InuYasha kept his gaze away, crossing his arms, refusing to listen. " I expect you to try and do something with your life."

"Are you finished?" Sesshomaru nodded.

InuYasha left the office, pushing the door with force and he would pass the front desk where he noticed Kagome and the receptionist simply watched him barge out of the office. He could feel their eyes staring into his back as he entered the elevator, now even attempting to make eye contact with any of them.

The day was cool and breezy, perfect for a walk. InuYasha would do just that, on his way to pick up Kai. His jacket thrown over his shoulder; one hand shoved in his packet, fidgeting his keys.

His long silver hair may have been pulled back but loose hairs danced around his face with the wind. It was just up ahead, Kai's school was in clear view. InuYasha could see the school building just ahead, the sounds of children laughing and screaming echoed. He soon realized that he fell in a wave of other parents, making their way to the school to pick up their children too. InuYasha would clearly stand out but no gave him dirty looks or anything; they lived in an time where everyone was more accepting of anyone of any kind

The school was overrun with children who were scattered everywhere, playing on the jungle gym, running to their parents or just enjoying the company of their friends. The school was small, with the amount of children about seven to ten teachers were required.

Approaching the school courtyard, young children would look at him with admiration, he would crack a light smile. He'd look from the walkway to the playground, children scattered everywhere. In the distance he could see a small group of kids who were huddled, amongst the group of children, he noticed a certain little child.

He'd watch the group of children and Kai broke away from the group, holding a small stick. As the rest of the little group broke away, they are hollered their battle cries before acting out a battle against a monster. A gush of wind danced through in the direction of Kai and his friend, Kai went from fearsome warrior to making a dead stop and looking in the direction of where the wind came from.

"Dad!" his face lite up, running to his dad. InuYasha would kneel down, allowing Kai to crash into his arms. Kai hugging him tight.

"I thought mommy was picking me up today?" he looked up at his dad, moving hair out of his face.

"Well your mom got stuck at a boring work meeting."

"Eww." Kai and InuYasha both made a face as InuYasha stood up, Kai ran off to grab his backpack that was against the school building with various other scattered back packs. InuYasha grinned watching his son, it was at that moment he could feel himself being watched.

"Are you Kai's father?" a voice spoke from behind him, glancing over his shoulder to see an older woman with an eyepatch on her right eye.

"Yes."

"InuYasha, correct?" he nodded in response "Well it's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Kaede, headmaster of the school."

"Nice to meet you."

"Kai is such a pleasure to have, he is much like his mother." she looked to him grinning "But I can see much of you in him."

"He is one of a kind." as he said that he would get a scent of something vile in the air, burned his nose a bit. He would have questioned the woman on the smell but Kai ran up to them, grinning at InuYasha. He'd turn to Kaede and handed her a small purple flower.

"For you Lady Kaede."

"Why thank you Kai." she took it and smiled sweetly at him "We will see you tomorrow morning."

"Thank you." InuYasha nodded his head towards Kaede, taking Kai's hand "Have a good day."

InuYasha and Kai spent most of the day, watching cartoons or working whatever homework assignment Kai was given. InuYasha glanced at his phone to see if Kagome had messaged him or called, the only message he had gotten was from Kikyo and she wouldn't be back in time, arriving back into town tomorrow. Her commute always left her gone for days at a time.

It was five past seven, the rays of orange and pink shined through InuYasha's large open windows and the backdoor. A single floor lamp was on, giving the room a calm and collect environment. InuYasha had been laying on his side, while Kai was cuddled around his stomach, his face hidden in both his hair and InuYasha's stomach. Kai had been falling in and out of sleep, finally passing out after meal of tuna and rice.

He'd keep himself busy, channel surfing, eventually picking some cheesy comedy show.

InuYasha found himself dozing off, the show was nowhere near eyes felt heavy and completely relaxed; Kai didn't help, he was like a mini heater. As he was dozing off, he couldn't help but think about how it wasn't like Kagome to not call or even text. He wouldn't be surprised if she sent Sesshomaru again, he was always helping her out. The two of them had a strange bond, but Kagome just seemed to make anyone feel comfortable and okay. It was her nature.
