Jack was glad that the chilly weather didn't affect him, otherwise he's be shivering just like all the little kids who go out and play in the snow for just a smidgen longer than what their jackets could handle. That was the best, though. Or at least, that's what Jack Frost believed. When kid's abandon their worries just to have fun. That's what Jamie needed now, to forget about homework (who needs it, anyway) and just have fun with his good friend Jack.
Seeing the Tooth Palace in all of its glory drew Jack from his thoughts. He loved the stained glass and all the colors it had. It was rare for him to see those colors since he always hung out in areas where the plants were dead and animals were either white or hibernating. The tiny fairies seemed to notice him before Tooth did, and many came and buzzed around him, happy to see a familiar, and not too bad-looking face around. As he got closer he heard the Tooth Fairy calling out names of various houses, which Jack assumed were homes of children who had recently lost teeth.
She seemed a bit more busy than usual, her calls were very rushed and aggressive, her posture very serious. "Oh, Jack!" She called upon noticing where all of her tiny fairies were disappearing to. Tooth buzzed her way on over to where Jack was floating. "What calls you over here in the dead of winter? There's a lot of kids with missing teeth, you know, what with all this icy weather." Tooth seemed to put a lot of emphasis on that last part, eyeing the very spirit responsible.
"I need some help," Jack said. More fairies crowded around him, sitting on his shoulder and playing in his hair.
"Oh, Jack," Tooth started, she had one hand under her chin and the other on her hip. She glanced around desperately at the little fairies who were still working. "I don't know, I'm really busy right now, what do you need?"
"I just need a little bit of help with Jamie," Jack said. He noticed how Tooth perked up at the mention of Jamie, the oldest child to still believe. "He's in love." Jack said. "I don't know what to do about it. He asked for my help but-"
"Oh, young love is so great, Jack!" Tooth placed her hands over her heart, her eyes clearly showing how much she wanted to help. "You should help him with it, not me, I'm too busy with all these teeth! I may have to go out onto the field myself." Tooth seemed upset that she couldn't help. But Jack had to admit, he had never seen the Tooth Palace so buzzing with excitement and order. He knew he'd be losing this battle.
With a sigh, Jack obediently agreed. With little options remaining, he left and headed to where the Easter bunny normally resides. He heard Tooth call out from behind him to visit again soon and he raised his arm in a small wave. He didn't want to but he had no other choice.
He had to ask bunny for help.
