Hello lovelies, VanillaDreamFran is back with a new chapter for you all. thank you to those who read, faved, followed and reviewed the last chapter, it made me so happy :)
Now on with the story as usual.
Disclaimer: Just because I cosplay Kraehe doesn't mean I own Princess Tutu. And even though I love chocolate as much as Elsa and Anna, I still don't own Frozen either.
Once there was a land that flourished. Its kingdoms lived in harmony with each other and magic filled every nook and cranny of the land. That is until magic was turned against them, bringing war, death and tragedy to the land. Now a party search for one with magic. But do they know how to approach? Can a quest succeed when shadows and lights clash with them?
Chapter 5 - And now the tale takes off
Fakir led Ahiru back to the courtyard. The whole castle had been covered in a dusting of snow and the fountains were now ice sculptures. Weaselton could be seen rallying people around him by the entrance to the castle.
"We must find and capture the Queen! She will only bring this kingdom danger and grief with her witchcraft!"
Some of the men shouted in agreement, while women were coddling their children and muttering about Princess Anna.
"What if the princess is a witch too?"
"Will she take her sister's place as Queen?"
Ahiru had heard enough from these people. She shook off Fakir's hold and stepped up to the Duke.
"Listen to yourself! How can you condemn your own Queen for possessing magic? Do you not have it in your land?"
Weaselton glared at her.
"How are you to speak of witchcraft with such ease? Are you too a witch!?"
People gasped at the Duke's question. Fakir made his way forward; it was job as a Knight and lover to protect Ahiru. His hand came to rest on his sword hilt, his stare directed at the Duke's men. If they so much as touched a hair on her head they would know the might of a Knight of Pura Cycnos.
"I'm not a witch, or a sorceress or whatever. But I've known magic, good and evil, and it all depends on the person who wields it. This power that Elsa has is good because she is good. You scared her and she reacted. How would you feel if someone decided to hunt you down because they were afraid of you?"
Ahiru turned to face the people in the courtyard now. Her eyes were bright with determination as she addressed the people.
"I will find the Queen and bring her back. I will prove to you all that her magic is nothing to be afraid of; that she can be a brilliant ruler and add a bit of magic to this kingdom."
With that she grabbed Fakir's hand and stomped over to where she believed the stables to be.
"Ahiru I won't let you go alone. You don't know what Elsa could be capable of."
Ahiru ignored Rue – who had followed her and Fakir to the stables, while Mytho attempted to reason with the Duke of Weaselton – and continued struggling to tack up one of the carriage horses used for their transportation to Arendelle.
"Ahiru, please listen to me." Rue implored, placing a hand on the younger woman's shoulder.
"Rue is right, duckling. We saw how Elsa reacted to Anna and Weaselton; she could easily harm you accidentally if you scare her."
"Fakir I just want to help her." Ahiru said, her eyes filled with sorrow.
Fakir brought her into his embrace, stroking her back as she placed her hands on his chest. The Knight could feel a wet patch on his shirt from his love's tears.
"I don't want to see anyone alone and afraid ever again. I don't Elsa to feel like you or Rue did in the past."
Ahiru moved back a step and looked at Fakir, gauging his reaction to her words. His eyes were steely at first. Rue placed a hand on his shoulder and he glanced down at her. He could see the tears brimming in her crimson eyes. Fakir sighed and looked back at Ahiru. His eyes softened; he was defeated by two women.
"If you wish to complete this mission then I'm coming with you. I knew Elsa as a child and I've seen what she can do with that ice and snow of hers. Her powers may have grown since then but I think I can handle whatever she throws at us."
Ahiru smiled and wrapped her arms around Fakir's neck.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Rue giggled at the display before her. Ahiru would forever be a child at heart it would seem.
"Now before you set off, I think you should change out of your dress Ahiru. I know you can fight in a tutu, but you may want something warmer for this quest." Rue stated, causing Fakir burst into laugh.
Fakir made his way out of the courtyard upon a dappled stallion. Ahiru - now clad in thick leather skintight trousers, one of Fakir's spare shirts, knee high boots, a heavy winter cloak and her usual long braid - followed behind on a russet coloured mare. Both had provisions of food, water, clothing and blankets strapped in bundles and saddle bags.
"Wait!"
The couple halted their horses and turned to see Anna trotting towards them on her own horse. Prince Hans was running next to her, his breath coming out in misty clouds in the cold air.
"If you're going to find Elsa then I'm coming with you."
Hans grabbed Anna's reins.
"It's not safe for you to go, Anna. Your sister could be dangerous."
"And that's why I'm going. She's my sister and I caused her to do this. She reacted like this because of me and my words."
Hans looked at her sternly and then turned to look up at Fakir.
"Surely you must see what I'm saying makes sense? You can't take her with you."
Fakir looked down at Hans and then back towards Anna. He sighed.
"First Ahiru and Rue, and now Anna."
"The Princess can come if she so wishes."
Anna grinned and tugged her reins free from Hans' grasp. There were still servants in the courtyard trying to clear away snow and ice from Elsa's outburst.
"I leave Prince Hans of the Southern Isles in charge while I'm away." She called back so that the servants could clearly hear her orders. They all bowed and called a 'Yes, Your Majesty' before returning to their work.
"Hans, I leave Arendelle in your hands."
Ahiru smiled at Anna as the princess brought her horse into a gallop and sped across the bridge leading to the village and the mountains beyond. The ballerina took a deep breath and clasped her necklace, making a wish on it.
"Please may Elsa be okay, and may her sister and people accept her gift."
"Time to go Ahiru." Fakir said as he nudged his stallion forward into a gallop.
With a look of determination, Ahiru nudged her mare forward, galloping after Fakir and Anna.
Prince Hans looked on in disbelief as the party of three set off to find Queen Elsa. He had watched Ahiru clasp her necklace, then one that Rue had given her. He'd seen how determined she looked as she set off on her mission.
"Those eyes… and that look… they're just like hers." Hans mused to himself.
His mind was full of thought as he replayed all the moments he'd seen the lady-in-waiting; how she interacted with others, her cheerful disposition, her smile and her eyes. They all reminded him of a girl he once knew years ago.
"But she can't be her. I left her there. I trapped her in that place!" the prince started to ramble. He raked his hand through his hair; calming himself, frustrated his plan had apparently not worked as well as he'd planned.
"If Lady Ahiru is really her, then I'll just have to lock her up again. And this time I'll make sure it's permanent."
An evil smirk tugged at Hans lip as he strode back into the courtyard, giving order to the servants as he entered the castle.
Duh, duh, DUH! Yep, evil Hans shall be present from now on. Since I'm assuming everyone who's reading this had seen all of Frozen, I don't want to sugarcoat Hans at all. He's sneaky in the film and shall be in this fic. So now it's time to find Elsa!
I hope you've all enjoyed this chapter, and remember, I live off reviews to survive. They're pick-me-up sweets for me :)
Thanks for reading, until next time
Frances xx :)
