Oooooookaaaaaay it's been years everyone! Hahahahaha honestly, I forgot about this site already (remembered about it recently) and gosh, I get now why I tend to forget this— it's like, part of my 'dark history'. Ugggghh everything I wrote is just so shitty! I'm sorry for making you read that. Really! But anyways, I haven't wrote a story for such a long time, though I'm (probably) not as bad as before so I plan to edit all of this. I'm going to start from scratch and get this over with lol.
Sometimes, running away and living everything behind is the safest route to save yourself from drowning but then you'll realize that you're all alone and find yourself being trap and left to drown again.
How many years has it been since I ran with all my might like this? Why am I even running in the first place...— Oh right, for the sake of my father's wedding that I'm so late at right now.
"Ugh! This heels hurts like heck!" I halted and bend down to take the high heels off my feet to hold it instead and continue to run after. The purple dress fluttering as I do so
Arriving to the place of the reception with dishevelled hair, huffing and puffing like crazy, I brace myself as I place my hand to the knobs of the large oak doors.
"Screw how I look" I muttered to myself while pushing the two doors open with the heels still on my hands.
—I was greeted by blinding light and... a bunch of judging stares.
Why do I have to be in this situation?!
•A week before•
In a certain waiting room, A silhouette girl sat in front of the mirror while looking at her own reflection. Long black silky hair that flows up to her waist, porcelain skin and a mesmerizing round eyes— that looks empty were reflected by it. If she didn't make any move, you might mistake her for a doll or something.
What has happen to me through the years...? Sighing as she question herself in her mind. Closing those empty eyes as she lean forward and rest her head to her arms.
"Life happened, that's all." She answered her own question. Wondering why is she even talking to herself.
Her head quickly face towards the door when she heard a loud knock.
She took a deep breath and as if on cue, her whole aura changes. The look of her eyes are seemingly bright and lively, the whole opposite of what it was minutes ago.
"Come in." are the words that softly rolled out of her tongue. Voice ever so warm and petite. It was the kind of voice everyone wouldn't be tired of listening.
The door opened viewing a man in a business suit displaying a smile on his face as he enters the room and as the girl see that, she quickly reverted to the aura she has a couple of minutes ago. Eyes empty again, as she look at the man. It's like there were 2 people inside her with 2 different personalities.
"Oh, it's just you, Mr. Yamada" the petiteness of her voice was still present but, as if it was a lie, the warmness of her voice was replaced by a somewhat cold and distant one. Not one bit of emotion was present into it.
Hearing this made the man called Yamada sigh. "I'm wondering when you'll stop giving your professor a cold shoulder~" he cooed wanting for the girl to show a little bit of her genuine emotion but failed to see any signs of her doing so anytime soon so he give up and decided to continue. "I've got a letter for you. It was given to me earlier today. It's from your dad."
The girl's eyes widened for a second, destroying her facade as she quirks up and face Mr. Yamada who has a playful smile lingering on his lips as he hold up the letter to the girls' face, making her scowl at him.
He laughed and placed the envelope on the table in front of her, then he pats the girls' head just like a father would to his child. The girls' face somehow softened by this action.
"Tsukiko, I know your situation with your family and you know I treat you as my own daughter, but when your dad gave me this, he was being desperate. So give Him a chance— since all this time you refused to meet with him and all." He said smiling dearingly at Tsukiko.
Although it was vaguely present, she was having second thoughts as she travel her eyes to look at the innocent looking envelope which consist the letter of her father.
Sighing in defeat, she nods in silence. "Also—" she said. "It's Tsumiko remember? I don't want you to be the one to blow my cover up, since you're also my producer and all." She displayed a straight face but playfulness was visible in her tone, earning a laugh from Mr. Yamada.
"I got it, I got it. My bad, dear. Anyway, the recording is about to start in 15 minutes so come out whenever you're ready, okay?" He gives Tsukiko a last pat on her shoulders before he exit the room, leaving the girl standing alone, having a vulnerable expression. Debating whether she should open the letter or not.
As Tsukiko reach her hand ever so slowly to the said letter, the images of her past that she decided to leave and run away from haunted her. All those flood of tears that she shed. All those critizisms and mocks she heard, all of it was slowly returning making her hand shivered, and when she finally grab the letter she decided to open it up even if it means temporarily returning to her past.
It's only for a while, she said to herself. As if like she's comforting her own.
The sound of her ripping the envelope open and her slightly heavy breathing was the only thing that can be heard in the room. You can notice how heavy the atmosphere is with only just that.
How many years has it been since I heard a news about my dad and... Ema. Thinking of that name makes her whole body tremble. Yes, that's right. Ema... the ever so kind, wonderful, loving and all kinds of beautiful praises that can be thrown, she was the reason for all of this.
Many says that there are 2 kinds of people. Those who shine brightly and those who serves as their shadows. The latter was who Tsukiko is compared to her other self— her very own twin sister: Ema. For this matter, Tsukiko grew up never experiencing equality. Her sister was always treated better. When she made an achievment, the credits will always go to her sister. Tsukiko was never acknowledge for who she is, it was always Ema, Ema, Ema. Then she grew tired of everything, the growing hatred for her sister, the wish to be acknowledge by everyone. That's why she decided to leave everything and just run away— to save herself and her own sanity.
Tsukiko pulls the paper out of the envelope and read it. The content of it was something she had never expected to receive.
"My beloved Tsukiko,
Are you well? I often hear stories of you from Mr. Yamada, he said you have a very successful career and studies. I'm truly grateful to him, and jealous as well. He is closer to you than I am. He knows you better than I do, as If like he's your father and not me. I honestly don't know when things started to go wrong in our relationship, and it truly hurts me whenever you refuse to meet up but, I understand. I was never a good parent to you. That's probably why you were pushing me away. I'm truly sorry, I hope that you can forgive me someday...
I wanted to inform you that I'm about get married to a wonderful woman. Her name is Miwa. And we want to see you in our wedding. You see, i'm really happy because she is willing to take care of both you and Ema, together with your soon-to-be brothers! This happiness of mine might not be properly conveyed through this letter but, as you can see I was rarely home because of my work and, I was never really there for you to protect you, support you like a real family will do. Like a real father do. But, I will finally be able to give it to you through the help of Miwa and her sons. I'm sure that they can gave the love and support that I wasn't able to give to you. That's why I want you to come live again with Ema.
All of this might be too sudden for you, especially since I'm asking you to move out of your dorm and come live with your new mom but, I really want you to consider this. I know, for someone like me who you cut off communication with, I might be asking a lot but— even for once, I want you to experience the warmth of a family. The experience that I wasn't able to give you when you were young...
I'm hoping to see you soon, Tsukiko. I'll be looking forward in seeing you once again.
Sincerely yours,
Rintarou"
Tsukiko was speechless after what she read. She was full of mixed emotions. She's feeling happy for her father, confused, and more importantly, surprised and, is still trying to process in her mind everything that is happening.
Her dad is going to get married, have new family, and he wants Tsukiko to be present in his wedding day— she was able to process this but…— He wants her to move out and live with Ema and the woman he's marrying, with his sons? Her father is particularly giving her no choice but to agree. It was portrayed like that to her.
'He wants me to consider this no matter what', Tsukiko said to herself. Her face was grim and a little dark. 'He's really not aware of anything huh... even of the reason why I left...'
She couldn't help but to let out a deep sigh as she fold the letter back to the envelope and place in on top of the table. She stood up and head towards the door.
•present time•
Great... Tsukiko curses in her head. Everyone in the reception was starring at her as if she was a mad lady or something. Heck she went all the trouble just to be here and this is what she'll get.
Tsukiko, acting as if she was not affected by the sudden attention, bend down to wear the heels that was in her hand. Honestly a flood of relief came crashing on her as she bends down, making her temporarily escape the judging stares of the people around her. Well that was until she heard a familiar voice.
While she was busy locking the 'complicated' lock (for Tsukiko at least) of her heels, there was a angelic like voice that called out to her, making her expression darken.
"Tsukiko...?" The high pitched voice called out with a reluctant tone.
Attending this wedding, Tsukiko has already prepare herself into facing this person again but goodness, she can't even lift her head up! She knows that once she meet that persons' eyes, she will remember all the emotions that she was trying to forget.
"Tsukiko, is that you?" This time, the owner of the voice have firmness in her tone. Sure that the person she's talking to was indeed Tsukiko, but she asked anyways.
Act, act... you can just act it all out like you always do— Tsukiko told to herself. She then breath out and again, as if it was on cue, she looked up and showed a warm smile at the girl who was just standing in front of her, towering her for she was scrunching down.
"It's been a while, Ema." the words rolled down out of Tsukiko's mouth pretty easily than she had expected.
That's right, Tsukiko. Don't show them your true self, just act everything out.
That's about it for now guys! I changed a lot of parts in the story but I still plan to make the routes that I wrote before. I know this new chap seems to be too rushed (which it is) but I hope I can make this story better for you guys. Anyway, I won't be deleting the previous chapters anytime soon but this will be the start of the story so please ignore and forget everything that is in those chapters! See you guys soon!
