Chapter4: A Rude Awakening

The next day, Jesses stirred to the the sound of her 3rd alarm, the one that reminds her that she is 15 minutes behind schedule. Jesse took her phone looked at the time and her eyes went wide,

"Oh no! Not again!"

Jesse leaped out of bed and started her way downstairs to the kitchen, scrambling hoping the kids wouldn't be up yet. But as she made her way downstairs she began to smell something intoxicating in the air. She opened the door to the kitchen and who else was standing there at the stove but Krish. She stood there frozen just watching him.

"Hey you" Krish smiled at Jesse as he was cooking. He was mesmerized by how she could look so flawless just waking up.

Jesse was returned to earth when she heard Krish speak

"Hey" She smiled. " So that's what smells so good, well the kids will be happy to see that it's not my cooking. In Texas I used to cook for my dads friends, well if you call peeping MRE's cooking" She joked.

Krish smiled and laughed at her joke, " Yeah well early to rise, early to start. I've been up since 5 A.M, I thought I'd let you sleep in and give you a morning off.

Jesse couldn't believe how thoughtful he was, he was almost too perfect.

"And…" Krish turned around to grab a plate. "I made you something special."

Krish had a plate of scratch made gingerbread breakfast pancakes. "Ravi told me they were your favorite, your grandma used to make them for you."

Jesse was taken aback, she had been a tad homesick as of late but she couldn't believe this was in front of her, it was truly one of the nicest things anyone had done for her.

"This is so sweet! How did you know these were my favorite? My grammy used to make them for me when I was a little girl."

Krish just smiled, "Ravi told me you were a tad homesick and that these were your favorite. I know they aren't your grandmothers but hopefully they are close. I know first hand nothing can ever replace a grandmothers cooking, they just have magic in their hands, thats how I felt about mine when she was with us."

Jesse saw a hint of sadness in Krish's beautiful green eyes, " Oh, I'm sorry"

Krish loved how caring Jesse was, it made him feel safe. He just smiled, "It's okay, she was the one who taught me how to cook, so In a way, I feel that whenever I cook she's right there beside me, guiding me."

Jesse couldn't believe the kind of guy Krish was, it was as if she walked into one of her romance novels.

"Well lets just hope she blessed me when making your dish" Krish joked.

Jesse looked up into his eyes, "They are perfect, thank you Krish" She walked closer towards him.

Krish's mind was racing, the thought of his lips touching hers was driving him crazy, but he knew, he couldn't. Krish looked back into her eyes,

"It was honestly my pleasure"

Jesse couldn't help but notice Krish's arms, they were huge, almost the size of her head. And the sweat glistening off his body, she couldn't help but think about being cradled in those arms.

"I'd better go upstairs and take a shower" Krish said as he walked towards the door. He stopped to turn around and ask Jesse,

"Have you ever seen the movie 'Knight and Day' ?"

"Yes I have, the one with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz right?"

Krish smiled, "Yes that's the one. Well Bollywood did their own version called 'Bang Bang'. It's on tonight, would you like to join me?"

Jesse couldn't help but think to ask him as a date, but quickly thought against it.

"Sure" She smiled. "I'll see if I can put the kids to sleep early"

Krish smiled "Good luck" He winked. "I'll make you a deal, you put the kids to sleep and I'll cook us dinner"

Jesse grinned ear to ear, trying to contain her blush. "Sounds like a date"

She had a micro panic attack until she saw how Krish lit up and said " A date" and with that he was off.

Jesse continued to eat, "Oh my god I am definitely in love" She said as she looked at the pancakes.
