A battle looms over Luffy, but is it truly something to be afraid of, or will it be some much needed R&R from the emotional turmoil Luffy has been facing as of late? Find out now!

Luffy awakens the next morning with a light feeling he has not had in days. He has finally gotten things sorted out with the Wedding and his "mystery feeling," but today was also the day he finally got to spar with Dogtooth. When he walked out of his room, he was surprised to see Dogtooth himself standing outside, already waiting for him.
"Hey, Doggy! What are you doing out here?" Luffy asks. Dogtooth replies right away,
"I'd like to get started with our fight as soon as possible, if you please. I do not want to miss my snack time, as I have already pushed it back an hour in preparation." Dogtooth says as he starts to leave and lead Luffy, but Luffy stops him for a moment.
"Uh, I don't think I'll be able to fight at full force on an empty stomach-" Luffy starts.
"Very well, I shall have the chefs under my command prepare you breakfast when we arrive on Komugi Island." Dogtooth says, interrupting and continuing to walk on. Luffy just shrugs it off and follows Dogtooth down the hall.
The duo arrives at Whole Cake Island's shore where a massive boat sits in waiting. It has to be at least double the size of the Poison Moon, bigger than the Big Top as well, and has the name "DOGTOOTH" written across the main sail of the ship. Dogtooth and Luffy get on the ship and set sail immediately, even without Dogtooth's command. He runs a tight ship, not a moment or a movement wasted by the on-board crew, and they make it to Komugi in great time.
Luffy can see Komugi Island has a pretty clear theme as the island comes into a view. A gigantic donut Homie watches over the coast as a part of a stack of donuts. When they arrive, Dogtooth takes Luffy to Hakuriki Town, and has a plate of donuts prepared for Luffy quickly.
"OH! Yummy! Thank's for the food!" Luffy says with a smile as he shoves all the donuts into his mouth at once.
"Are you satisfied, or shall I have more prepared?" Dogtooth asks, his chefs ready at a moment's notice.
"Nope! That'll do it for now! At least until lunch! Thanks, Doggy!" Luffy says. Dogtooth seems satisfied with his answer and leads Luffy to a large open space toward the shore of the island.
"We shall fight here, I will allow you to make the first move!" Dogtooth says. Suddenly, Luffy remembers something,
"OH WAIT! I almost forgot!" Luffy says, which Dogtooth was not expecting. He pulls a vial of a sloshing green liquid from inside his shirt.
"What is that?" Dogtooth asks.
"It's an antidote Chopper made for my poison! The poison's tough stuff, but Chopper analyzed it and made the cure for me! I always carry a vial or two around just in case, and it only takes this little bit to negate the effect if you get it soon enough. I wanted to put it somewhere safe, because as long as I know I have it, I can go all out!" Luffy explains.
"Hmph, as long as you don't hold back…" Dogtooth starts as he cracks his neck and knuckles.
"Just place it over there, I'll be sure to take it if I need it." Dogtooth adds while pointing off to the side with his thumb. Luffy rushes over a ways and places the vial gently on the ground before going back over to Dogtooth.
"Now, take your best shot!" Dogtooth shouts as Luffy comes rushing in. He coats his arm in Armament Haki and throws a powerful punch at Dogtooth. Dogtooth effortlessly dodges the punch, to Luffy's surprise.
"I won't attack until you hit me first, so come on!" Dogtooth shouts. Luffy coats his other arm in Armament Haki and tries for a sucker punch, but Dogtooth dodges again. Luffy keeps throwing punches, but Dogtooth dodges every one of them.
"Come on, I know that you are still holding back. Why are you not going 'all out,' as you had said? Why are you not using your Devil Fruit power?" Dogtooth asks. Luffy smirks,
"I won't use my Devil Fruit until you use yours!" Luffy says, paraphrasing Dogtooth's own words.
"Hmph, not bad…" Dogtooth starts as Luffy continues to punch at Dogtooth, but has yet to land a hit. Luffy coats his entire right arm (and his right sleeve) in Armament Haki and goes for a big punch. Dogtooth dodges again, but feels something on his stomach, something that has some force behind it.
"Hmm?" Dogtooth mutters as he looks down seeing Luffy's left fist coated in Armament Haki making contact with his stomach, which he seemed to have subconsciously applied Haki to in the spot Luffy's fist is hitting.
"That's a hit.!" Luffy says with a confident and determined smile on his face.
"…Not bad at all!" Dogtooth finishes before coating his arm in Haki and taking a powerful swing at Luffy. He senses it just in time and kicks off of Dogtooth's chest to avoid the attack.
"Edged Mochi!" Dogtooth calls out, firing off a gigantic, Haki-infused block of mochi at Luffy.
"Venom-Venom Pistol!" Luffy calls out in response, firing a pillar of poison at the flying mochi. The poison is no match, and the mochi splits the pillar of poison into a massive wave, spewing outward. However, the poison blocks Dogtooth's view of Luffy, and he is nowhere in sight when the mochi block reaches where it was originally aimed.
"Pretty clever, Straw Hat.! You used your inability to stop my attack to give yourself a last second advantage.!" Dogtooth says, genuinely impressed. All of a sudden, Luffy appears right beside him, not making a sound and rearing back with a poison coated fist, but it would seem Dogtooth was already aware of the fact that Luffy was there. He coats his arm in Haki and swings before Luffy has a chance to throw the punch, hitting him square in the head. Luffy's head suddenly explodes, sending globs of poison at Dogtooth and surprising him.
"Willow Mochi!" He shouts out, sprouting multiple long tendrils of mochi from his arm and hitting every single glob out of the air. As soon as each tendril hits the glob, he disconnects it from his arm, saving him from any potential danger of being poisoned.
"I see, that was your double." Dogtooth says.
"Shishishishi! Yeah, but I tricked you, didn't I?" Luffy's voice calls out from somewhere around. Dogtooth starts to look around for him casually, but Luffy has something else to say.
"Unlike me, you shouldn't think my Clone is dead just because he's missing his head!" He says as Dogtooth sees the headless double throw a Haki infused punch, but Dogtooth coats his leg in Haki and kicks the Clone, causing it to explode into dozens of globs that all fly away from him.
"Your Clone can use Haki, that's pretty impressive as well. But, aside from that, I was expecting more than parlor tricks." Dogtooth says as Luffy rises out of a large glob of poison that had been created by the destroyed Pistol attack.
"Shishishishi! Don't worry, I'm just gettin' started!" Luffy calls out confidently.
"Okay, Venom-Venom Chloro-Ball!" Luffy shouts, blowing a bubble of poison like gum and spitting it out at Dogtooth. After only a second of analyzing it, Dogtooth takes action.
"Better pop that quick.! Can't let it get too close.!" He says, pulling a jellybean of all things out of his pocket and firing it at the bubble like a bullet. When it pops, it releases a noxious gas, but he was able to pop it before he is in it's range. While the smoke clears, Luffy's arm becomes fully incased in poison, then in Haki as he rushes in.
"Rrrrooooaaarrrgggghhhh!" Luffy shouts as he closes the gap between himself and Dogtooth. He swings, but Dogtooth dodges and throws a Haki-infused uppercut aimed for Luffy's stomach. A clean hit.
"ARGH!" Luffy shouts as he is thrown back from the attack. Luffy lands flat on his face, but picks himself up and is back on his feet right away. He spits out a bit of blood,
"You've got fast reflexes! Either that or you've got better Observation Haki than I do!" Luffy says as he coats his arm in poison again.
"Venom-Venom Pistol!" Luffy shouts out, firing off another attack.
"That still won't work! Edged Mochi!" Dogtooth calls out, once again shooting out a block of Haki infused mochi and splitting the wave of poison into two. Luffy smiles, his plan worked perfectly.
"Venom-Venom Road!" Luffy calls out, shooting down the left side of the stream at incredible speed, and fires out of it like a cannon. He coats his arm in Haki again, and throws a punch at Dogtooth. Dogtooth sees it coming and dodges.
"Here we go again!" Dogtooth says as he goes for another Haki infused uppercut, but Luffy is prepared for it. As soon as Dogtooth lands the punch, Luffy makes his move.
"Venom-Venom Blowfish!" Luffy calls out. When Dogtooth actually does connect the punch, it hurts Luffy pretty bad, but Luffy spews out poison gas all over Dogtooth.
"ACK!" Luffy calls out, hunching over and grabbing his stomach while Dogtooth stumbles for a bit.
"That gas wasn't your regular kind of poison, it was tear gas!" Dogtooth calls out, rubbing his eyes. Luffy coughs before answering, clearly with the wind having been knocked out of him.
"Yeah.! It won't do any permanent damage, but it'll blind you for a while.!" He explains.
"Then I'll just have to go on without my eyes." Dogtooth says firmly, eyes squeezed shut. Luffy has to come up with a new plan, and moves a few feet away. After taking a deep breath, his body becomes cloaked in poison as he shouts,
"Okay, it's time to get serious! Venom-Venom…Hydra!"
A/N: What a thrilling start to an epic battle! Who will win, and how dangerous are these elite pirates? I'll admit this is technically a diversion from the central story line, but it ties up some loose ends and how could I, a sane person, pass up the chance to show Katakuri some love. He's definitely one of the best villains and characters to be introduced to the One Piece storyline in some time, and his cannon fight with Luffy was too badass to not recreate in some capacity (plus I can actually make Luffy's DF power more relevant for the first time in a while). Also, I hope you are excited to read this fight as i was to write it, and I hope you will look forward to next chapter's continuation of it.
