Ren shot open his eyes, letting his eyes adjust to the low light of the early morning, the sound of a soft thud coming from a distance waking him. Moments later, another thud came, followed by a third. Ren shot up and quickly scanned the room, finding no threat. Softly leaping from the bed, he stuck his head out of the team's dorm room to find nothing out of the ordinary.
"You heard it too?" Ren turned to find his leader already dressed for combat, staring out the open window, "Get dressed, get your weapons and head to Ozpin's office, tell him the endgame has begun."
"What does that mean?" Ren asked as he threw on his combat gear, "Jaune, what's going on?"
"That's a question for later," Jaune turned to face his comrade, his face filled with anxiety, "what matters now is that we get everyone to safety."
"Mmmm, pancakes," Nora softly whispered in her sleep.
Ren softly growled in frustration before alerting the rest of the team, "Everyone up, we have to move!"
"Waffles!" Nora let out as she jolted awake.
"I expect the full story later," Ren said before bolting off to the headmaster's office.
"Nora, Pyrrha, get up and get dressed, pack whatever you need. Pyrrha, when you're ready, take Ash to the airfield. Nora, make sure Ruby gets to the airfield with her team," Jaune ordered his remaining teammates as he went across the hall to alert his fellow team leader. Knocking on team RWBY's door, he screamed, "Ruby, girls, get up. We gotta go!"
"Jaune? What's going on?" Yang answered the door, "Do you know what time it is?"
"No time to explain, wake the others and get ready for a fight," Jaune frantically said, "meet at the airfield, if I'm not there in fifteen minutes, leave without me and head for Mistral."
Jaune sprinted down the hall heading towards Beacon cliff as the warning siren came on the intercom along with Glynda's voice, "All beacon students please make your way to the airfield for evacuation, this is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill."
"Yang, what's happening?" Ruby called from her bed, groggily rubbing her eyes.
"You heard the announcement, we have to evacuate," Weiss answered, throwing her night gown off.
"Pack what you need, we need to get out of here quickly," Yang followed suit, quickly changing into her usual outfit.
Understanding the situation, Ruby hopped from her bed, putting on a white blouse followed by her usual corset and skirt. Clipping her new scythe to the small of her back, she picked up her backpack and followed her team to the rendezvous point, followed by Nora, Pyrrha and Ash. Turning to Pyrrha, she asked, "Where's Jaune?"
"I don't know, the last thing that I heard was him telling Yang to leave without him if he wasn't at the airfield in fifteen minutes," Pyrrha answered.
Shaking her head, Ruby turned to chase after Jaune only to be stopped by Nora grabbing onto her hood, "Let me go, he's going to do something stupid, I know he is."
"We know, but that's just how he is," Nora said as she dragged Ruby along, "your team needs you and I have my orders to make sure you stick with them."
"But we can fight," Ruby argued, "we can help."
"This threat is bigger than us!" Pyrrha screamed, "There's no way on remnant that the seven of us can take on a colossus."
"The colossus are just legends," Blake said as Pyrrha fell silent.
"What aren't you telling us?" Weiss asked.
"Jaune has his secrets, but that's not what we should be worrying about right now," Nora turned to Ruby as she pulled the reaper to her feet, "if you want to help, then you'll follow orders just like I am. Jaune probably has a reason and he'll tell us when the time comes."
"But what if he doesn't make it out of this?" Ruby asked.
"He will, our leader isn't stupid enough to try and take on something that huge without any backup," Nora reassured the young leader as they approached Ren waiting in an airship.
"Are you sure about this?" Ozpin asked the blonde knight as he entered the coordinates into his scroll, "I'm sure Ms. Rose and your team wouldn't approve of this."
"Do we have any other option?" Jaune answered as he stepped onto a launchpad, "We have to buy time for everyone to get out of here."
"I figured that would be your answer," Ozpin replied, handing Jaune an earpiece, "when all the students are clear, Oobleck will arrive with the bullhead. Under no circumstances are you to engage any further when he gets here."
"Understood, sir," Jaune confirmed, the sound of the launchpads clicking in the background were drowned out by the sounds of the thuds getting closer.
"You know, I don't approve of this," Ozpin said out loud.
"I know, sir," Jaune replied, his hands shaking anxiously as he reached for his second weapon.
"Is that?" Weiss asked as she looked back at Beacon from the airship.
"Probably," Yang answered.
"And?" Blake started, referring to the shadow in the distance.
"No doubt about it," Pyrrha answered before Blake could finish.
"I have to go after him," Ruby said, pulling her hood over her face, ready to jump from the airship as she opened the door.
"I got her," Nora said as she tackled the red reaper to the floor. Straddling the younger girl, Nora slapped Ruby, "don't you dare pull a Jaune right now."
"If we don't help him, he might die," Ruby desperately struggled against Nora, "how can you, Ren, and Pyrrha, of all people, let him do this alone?"
"We have our orders," Ren chimed in, "Jaune will meet us at Mistral, when everyone's safe."
"But he didn't have to do this alone," Ruby continued to argue, "how do you know he'll even make it there?"
"He'll make it," Pyrrha said confidently, "Nora, Ren and I know he'll make it."
The colossus' body came into view as Jaune flew towards its head. Aiming his hand cannon, he emptied his clip at the giant's eye before launching the explosive clip itself at his enemy's leg. The monstrosity let out a metallic screech as the projectiles barely missed its eye, the explosive causing the massive creature to fall to one knee. Holding down the trigger of his hand cannon, Jaune snapped the barrel back, causing the blade to unfold and extend over the end of the barrel. His body glowed a bright white as Jaune slammed into the shoulder of the beast, digging his new blade into the dark flesh.
"I smell an Arc and the wizard," the words seemed to vibrate with metal as they left the giant's mouth.
"What's it to you?" Jaune retorted as he scaled up grimm's body.
"Boy, you're not the one who sealed me," the colossus replied, moving his arm to attempt to flatten Jaune, "but seeing as you're the descendant of him, I cannot forgive your existence."
Activating a barrier, Jaune threw up his shield, his sword still sheathed, "If my ancestor could seal you, then I'm the one who'll kill you."
"Don't get cocky, Jaune," Ozpin's voice came through his com link as a missile of aura knocked the arm away.
Quickly folding up his new weapon and holstering it, Jaune unsheathed Crocea Mors, piercing the giant's skin as he ran towards the head. Reaching its neck, Jaune dug his sword in, black smoke pouring from the wound. The giant simply brushed boy off his body in response, knocking him to the ground. Picking up Crocea Mors, Jaune charged the giant's feet, simply slicing away at any grimm that stood in his way.
Reaching the giant's supporting foot, Jaune started hacking away at its Achilles tendon, to no avail. Standing up, unaffected by Jaune's attacks, the giant lifted his foot, "Pray to your diety all you want, he's dead anyway."
"Jaune, get out of there, you're not ready for this," Jaune heard Ozpin's voice through his com link again. Seeing no time to dive out of the way, Jaune threw up the strongest barrier he could muster, his body glowing brightly once again before the foot came down. The sound of the barrier shattering rang through his ears before his world went dark. Jaune opened his eyes, his vision still dark, to the sound of a familiar scratching.
Author's note: Well, here we are at the end of this story. After something like three or four years, it's finally completed. If you guys want a sequel series to this, let me know. Like I said in the previous AN, I originally wanted to rewrite this story, but I don't think I'd ever go back to it. There's so many things I want to go back and change, but I honestly didn't want to get rid of my tribute to Monty Oum. So instead of rewriting it or deleting this story, I'm just going to end it here and move forward. I hope you guys come along for the ride
