I do not own.
"Uh, Six?" Rex asked with concern.
"Yes, Rex?" Sam answered automatically. Mentally, he congratulated himself for remembering to respond to his name.
"Are you sure we should be bothering doc?" Rex nervously fidgeted in his seat. "I mean she is angry at you."
"I know, but this is a matter of life and death." Sam answered without thinking.
Rex sat up. "What do you mean? Doc's just there to look for a cure for our memory loss, isn't she?"
Sam debated the virtues of letting Rex in on the Holiday's real mission. "Listen Rex, if I tell you, you have to promise to not… to promise to do everything I say. We can't afford any mess ups. It's Dr. Holiday's life we're talking about."
"Of course, I will. I'm not some brat. I mean I am a rebellious teen who has trouble listening to authority… but not you, Six. I totally listen to you… most of the time… half the time… more than most people." Rex finished.
Sam prayed he wasn't making a mistake. "Rex, Dr. Holiday went undercover to find out what's really happening at this research hospital."
"Really? That's so cool!" Rex said excitedly, then he frowned. "How come no one told me?"
Sam cleared his throat. "You're not always… discreet."
"Discreet? I can be discreet." Rex said offended. "I'm so discreet that you won't even know I'm not being discreet."
"You don't know what it means, do you?" Sam asked dryly.
"No, not really." Rex admitted.
"Rex, just don't draw attention to yourself." Sam said.
"Oh, that. So I probably shouldn't make my builds?" Rex commented.
"That would be the opposite of discreet." Sam agreed.
"Okay, what's the plan?" Rex asked.
That was the problem. Sam didn't have much of a plan. He was hoping Al would show up and tell him what Six found out. "Well…" Sam hedged.
"Sam!" Al's head popped through the windshield.
"Auugghh!" Sam yelped pulling on the steering. The jet jerked up before Sam steadied it.
"Woah, Six, what happened?" Rex asked concerned.
"Nothing, nothing, just thought I saw something." Sam tried to calm his rapidly beating heart.
"Jumpy, aren't we?" Al muttered. "Look, Sam, apparently, Six found out that this Dr. Gregor might be suspect."
"He's more than suspect." Six suddenly popped up from the bottom of the jet.
"Auugghh!" The jet jerked up again.
"What? What now?" Rex yelped as he was thrown around again.
"Just testing your reflexes." Sam lied. Then quietly to Six and Al. "What are you talking about? Who's Dr. Gregor?"
"Okay, how about we start at the beginning." Al suggested. They took turns filling Sam in on what they found out so far. Sam frowned. Some of it he knew already and some was just new.
"Dr. Fell?" He muttered.
"Wow, I haven't heard that jerkwad's name in a while." Rex snorted.
"So you know this Dr. Fell?" Sam said carefully.
"Sure," Rex said. "He tried to dissect me on a molecular level. But you stopped him."
"He did?" Sam blurted out. The quickly corrected himself. "I… I… I mean I did."
"Yeah, you fought White Knight to stop him. During the fight, the machine started up and Fell couldn't turn it off. White saved you but got his nanites sucked up. I stopped the machine before he was totally demolecularized."
"That explains a lot." Six commented quietly realizing why White was so standoffish with him.
"Yeah, Fell was fired and Holiday took over his job." Rex concluded.
"And that could be it!" Al said excitedly.
"Fell probably holds a grudge against Dr. Holiday." Sam said slowly. "It's possible he killed Holiday and framed Six."
"What?" Rex asked startled. "Who said anything about killing Doc?"
"Sorry, Rex. Just a hypothetical scenario." Sam realized his mistake.
"But we are worried about Doc, right? That's why we're going to visit?" Rex fretted.
"Exactly, Bobo said that there's something shady going on and Dr. Holiday has gone undercover to investigate." Sam said loudly for Six and Al's benefit.
"Who's Bobo?" Al asked.
"So she didn't leave because of me?" Six said with relief.
"Anyway," Sam cleared his throat to get the two holograms' attention. "We need to figure out how to approach Dr. Holiday without scaring away the people she's investigating."
"Uh, how about… you pretend to be her boyfriend visiting her at her job?" Rex got excited. "Yeah, they can't be suspicious about that."
"Awww, you're blushing." Al teased Six.
"I am not. And mind your own business." Six growled turning away.
"It would be suspicious if Fell sees me." Sam said getting back to the subject at hand.
"I don't think Fell's around. I'm willing to bet Feroz and Fell are the same person and Gregor said that Feroz is no longer around." Six answered.
"Why are we talking about Dr. Fell? He's a total wash up. No one's heard from him since he got the boot from Providence." Rex said confused.
"Rex, Dr. Fell might be the one involved with the disappearance of several test subjects at the hospital." Sam explained.
"Oh, so that's the shady thing you were talking about." Rex nodded. "But how do you know it's Dr. Fell?"
"Sources." Sam answered.
"Of course, you have those cool underground informants." Rex agreed.
Sam had no idea what Rex was talking about but played along. "Right, so when I land the plane…"
"You go visit, Doc and I'll go discretely look for clues. Got it!" Rex said enthusiastically.
"Uh, no. I was going to say stay in the plane." Sam stopped him.
"What? Why?" Rex complained.
"Because, I can't have you blowing our cover." Sam said.
"I won't blow our cover!" Rex protested. "I'll use the stealth suit and be real quiet."
"What's the stealth suit?" Sam asked.
"Are you kidding?" Rex asked shocked. "Oh right, you have amnesia. Uh, we have these suits that make you invisible…"
"Really?"
"Yeah, I'm an expert at using it." Rex said proudly.
Sam looked at Six who shrugged. "I don't remember." Six said unhelpfully.
"Why not?" Al asked. "Let the kid see if he can find any information."
"Okay, Rex. But you need to keep a low profile." Sam acquiesced.
Rex snorted. "They won't even know I'm there."
"Okay, heads up. We're here." Sam noted.
The radio crackled. "Please identify yourself."
Sam picked up the radio. "Uh, hello." He said uncertain as to how to respond.
"Just tell them Alpha niner requesting permission to land." Six told him.
"Alpha niner requesting permission to land." Sam repeated.
"Alpha niner state your business."
"Uh…" Sam looked at Six.
"Friend of Dr. Holiday, Agent Six." Six replied.
Sam repeated what Six said but added boy to the friend. He ignored Six's glare and Al's laughter.
There was such a long stretch of silence that Sam was worried that they would be turned away.
Finally, the radio came alive again. "Permission granted." Sam was given instruction as to where to land.
Six gave directions to Sam as to where Gregor's office was located. Sam relayed them to Rex. "He's the one working with Fell." Sam explained the significance.
"Wow, your sources are good." Rex mumbled.
When they landed, Sam jumped out. Rex stayed out of sight as he put on the stealth suit.
There was a man waiting for him.
"Welcome sir, if you'll follow me I'll lead you to Dr. Holiday." The man said politely.
"Thank you." Sam said. He noticed that he had a firearm under his jacket.
"I'll go with the kid." Al called from the plane. "Mr. Happy can go with you."
Six, who was already on the ground, glared at Al but said nothing. He followed Sam and what he assumed was security to Dr. Holiday's office.
When they arrived, the man knocked on the door. "Agent Six here to see you."
"Come in." Her familiar voice answered.
The door slid opened and Sam walked in followed closely by Six. The security guard remained outside as the door slid closed.
"Six, are you all right?" Holiday asked worriedly walking up to him.
"Yes, I'm feeling better." Sam replied.
"Oh good. I was worried." She stopped and bit her lip. It was as if she was choosing her words carefully. "You weren't awake yet, when I left."
"I am now." Sam said. He took her arm firmly and led her away from the door. He glanced at Six who quickly stuck his head outside the room.
"The guard is listening at the door." He announced grimly.
Sam turned to Holiday and whispered in her ear. "They're listening to us."
Holiday nodded. It was one thing that Six always appreciated about Holiday. She caught on quick. But what she did next surprised him and made him extremely jealous. "I'm glad you're better. I missed you." She said loudly before wrapping her arms around Sam, she nuzzled her mouth to his ear. She spoke softly. "Why are you here? And boyfriend?"
Sam surprised by the intimate touch but realizing what she was doing held her close and spoke into her ear. "It was an excuse to come visit you. We think Dr. Fell is the one behind the disappearances."
Holiday pulled away in shock. Sam held a finger up to his lips before she could exclaim. "I've missed you, too." Sam answered loudly.
Holiday returned to his embrace. "Are you sure?" She asked.
Sam looked at Six who was glaring at him. "I'm sure. You're in danger."
"I already knew that this was dangerous." Holiday replied.
"No, Dr. Fell is sure to come after you afterall you took his job. We need to leave now." Sam urged.
Holiday shook her head. "We're so close to a breakthrough for your amnesia. I can't leave now and since I know who's behind the disappearances, I will be on the look out for Fell."
Six looked away. His heart dropped when he heard that she was trying to find a cure for him. "Tell her it's not worth it. Not for her life."
"Rebecca, it's not worth the risk to your life." Sam told her.
"What else am I suppose to do?" Her voice went up. Sam put a finger up again and she lowered her tone. "Six, we can't have you endangering your life either. Rex needs you."
"He needs you too… I need you." Sam told her.
Her mouth dropped slightly as did Six's.
"What are you doing?" Six asked nervously.
"Rebecca, come back with me. We'll figure out something else, please." He dipped his head and her eyes fluttered shut as his lips met hers.
Six's eyes widened and then narrowed. His hands balled up into fists. Logically, he knew that she thought it was him. But part of him was working itself into a rage. "Sam, stop kissing MY GIRL!" He tried to grab him but he just passed through.
It was Holiday who pulled away from him. "No," She pushed him back. "No, I'm not going to let you manipulate me so easily." Her voice wavered a little. "You don't remember… anything about us."
"Rebecca…" Sam pleaded.
"No." Her voice was firmer this time. "You have to leave."
"But…"
"GO!" She practically shouted.
The door slid opened. "Dr. Holiday? Is everything all right?"
"Agent Six is just leaving." She turned her back.
Sam was a lost at what to do. "Call me if you need me." He said as he slowly walked to the door. Holiday nodded but didn't look back. When door slid closed, Holiday placed her hands over her face to stifle a sob. Six gave her a pained look. Reaching out his hand he tried to place it on her shoulder. To his surprise she seemed to notice taking a look.
Six looked angrily towards the door. "I'm going to kill him." He said darkly.

Rex snuck out of the jet when no one was looking. The stealth suit made it hard for Al to keep track where he was. He had to wait for a slight glimmer from an errant beam of light to pinpoint where Rex was.
"Come on kid, hurry and find some clues." Al muttered through his cigar.
Rex followed the directions to Gregor's office. Making sure that there was no one around, he put his hand on the control panel. The door slid open and he walked in. Pulling off his hood, he reappeared.
"Now go through the drawers." Al said even though Rex couldn't hear him. Instead Rex walked to the computer. Placing his hand on it, the computer started up.
"That's a pretty good trick." Al remarked.
Rex pulled a rod from the belt on the suit. He inserted it into the computer. There was a whirling noise as information was transferred onto the data rod. Noise came from outside.
"Uh oh, kid. You better hurry up." Al muttered. Rex alarmed put his hand on the computer. The data rod ejected just as the door opened. Rex yanked on his hood and disappeared.
"Who's here?" A voice demanded. A security guard looked around the now empty office. He walked over to the computer which was still turned on. He stared at it for a second before shutting it down. Rex had flatten himself against the wall and tried to make himself as inconspicuous as possible.
The guard gave the office another once over before leaving. Rex finally breathed. He slumped over on one of the cabinets that tipped over a little. Suddenly, a secret door opened behind him and Rex fell through.
Groaning, he rolled over on his side. Looking up to see where he was, he gasped. The sterile white room was brightly lit. EVOs floating in glass encasements with tubes attached, littered the room.
"Are these the missing EVOs?" Rex wondered aloud.
"Probably." Al answered equally as awed. Then Al spotted it first. "Uh-oh."
A large growling EVO guard dog emerged from behind one of the encasements.
Even though Rex was invisible to human eyes, this eyeless dog had other ways of sensing him. He approached Rex menacingly.
"Oh boy." Rex gulped.
So my illness developed into Bronchitis and I've been on powerful meds to try to get me back to normal. I swear I'm working on this. Hopefully, now that school's over, I have more time to work on these. But it's true my motivation to write is waning. I hope you're still interested. Thank you for reading and reviewing.
