Darkness.

That's all there was. This place Chromastone found himself in. It was empty, darkness going on for miles. It felt familiar, but he wasn't sure how. He tried to fly around, see if he could find an end. The light he shined through his horn didn't help much, as the darkness still remained.

This was unnatural. Chromastone flew down to what he assumed was the ground. This was the only end he could find. The ground began to shake, and suddenly, it was bright. Just the ground he was on with a small radius. Something came out.

That same darkness he had seen all around him did, but it was physical. And, before he could get away, it took hold of him, capturing him with no effort. Strange glass like crystals traveled up the branches of darkness that had caught him.

Chromastone knew this place. He knew it well.

"No."

Every part of his body began to hurt as the glass sealed up on the branches, this sudden pain, something he rarely felt, made him scream. It hurt so much. He couldn't get away from it. He tried to scream for someone, he didn't care who, to help. But it was too late. The glass sealed him, from the inside and out.

PEWCHU

THUD

Chromastone woke up to find himself on the floor of the bedroom he shared with Big Chill. He looked at his bed, seeing how he must have blasted the wall next to it trying to wake up. It recoiled and made him hit the ground. He looked at his hands and arms, standing up. He was fine. Looking to his other side, he saw Big Chill was still asleep. What time even was it?

2:00 A.M.

It was late. Or rather, early. Something. In any way, he should go back to sleep. Not that he wanted to, of course. He sighed, thinking to himself. He sat back on his bed, stifling a yawn.

"Slim? What're you doing up?" Big Chill looked at his boyfriend from across the room, who jumped in surprise.

"I could ask you the same thing."

"I heard a weird sound followed by a thud. I thought it might have been Wildmutt walking around on his little patrols, but then I heard rustling from your side of the room. You do know here on Earth we sleep at night, yeah?"

Chromastone smiled in the darkness, "I know, but it's difficult to sleep when you're being," he sighed, "Haunted by the thing you fear most in your sleep."

"Another nightmare then?" Big Chill walked over, sitting next to Chromastone.

"Yes . . . I hate referring to them like that, though. It sounds childish."

"It's nothing to be ashamed about. Though, you have been getting them a lot recently."

"I know. It's worrying me. My sleep schedule is bad enough as it is, ahaha . . ." Chromastone laughed, even though he didn't at all find what he said funny. He felt a bit of relief when Big Chill hugged him, snuggling against him.

"Just means we need to work on it. I'll be here all the way."

Chromastone hugged Big Chill back, a tad tightly. "Thank you, my love. You act as a savior in these dreadful times."

"Eh. The pay's good. Unlimited hugs from the sweetest and cutest guy in the universe? That's an offer I can't refuse," Big Chill rested his head against Chromastone's chest.

"How wonderful is it that my payment can suffice?" Chromastone smiled, laying back down with Big Chill. He wasn't sure if he would sleep again tonight or the next night, in fact what awaited him the next night would be far worse, but laying there with Big Chill sent a feeling of comfort and relaxation through him, "I love you, Chills."

"Love you too, Slim. Night."

". . . Good night."
