Sorry I haven't updated in a while, but I always like to be a few chapters ahead of what I post. The next chapter took 3 tries before I got it right. Keep on commenting, asking questions, & reviewing! I will answer all questions, but if I haven't personally got back to you it's because I'll answer here later.

Edward never sat next to me at home anymore. He mostly stayed to himself, playing his piano or reading. I missed his touch, his kiss, even his breath! I was having withdraws from my husband, my drug, yet he showed little sign of needing me! I was scared he would leave me. How could I prove to him that he was the only man I'd ever slept with and the only man I ever will sleep with?
I hated lying to everyone, saying we were excited about the baby. I hated to see his fake smile; however, I made every attempt I could to be with him around people. It was the only time we kissed, though he barely kept his lips on mine long enough, and it was the only time we hugged or held hands. If the occasion called for it he would say "I love you," but I could see the pain of betrayal in his eyes.
When Edward told me about the DNA test I told him we should go. He was reluctant, but somehow I talked him into it. So by early November we were on a plane to New Hampshire to see the only person who could give me my life back.
It was a long, silent trip. Even this vampire doctor had his doubts about my baby, which only pushed Edward further away from me. Now, a month had passed, and our marriage was still rocky. The doctor promised to have the results before we left for Forks for Christmas. The greatest gift in the world would be when Edward was my husband again.
"Where is he?" Jody complained. "Our men" as Jody called them promised to meet us at the café down the street after their classes, but they were late.
"Would you please calm down? They'll be here. Give them time." Unfortunately time was running short. The waitress was getting edgy about us hogging a table. The line to get in was stretching outside of the door!
"Finally!" Jody screamed before she ran to Josh and Edward. She grabbed their arms and, literally, dragged them to our table. The waitress, much happier now, walked over before they had pulled out their chairs.
"What can I get you all to drink?" she asked, eyes looking only at Edward. I still couldn't get over his natural ability to dazzle women. If Edward ever changed my I wouldn't be able to do that!
"Coke."
"Pepsi."
"Sprite," I ordered.
"Make that two," followed Edward's usual response. He looked back at me with a crooked smile. "I'm not so sure that pop is the best thing for you right now."
"I didn't plan on drinking both of them," I promised. My friends had gotten used to Edward giving me all of his food and drinks.
After a few minutes she returned with the pops and took our orders. She tried time and time again to take Edward's, but as always he "wasn't hungry." All of a sudden he tensed.
"Edward, what's wrong?" I asked sharply. He quieted my and closed his eyes, listening to whatever troubled him.
"Alice," he mutter-laughed. What was she doing here? None of the Cullens, except for Carlisle, had much to do with me after my announcement. Alice and Rosalie had been the worst- talking to Edward around me, but never to me. Like it or not, they were my sisters. I had thought for sure Alice would've known the truth, but like she was always reminding us, she only knew what had already been decided.
"Hunting. She and Jasper want to be…normal when they see you. Alice doesn't sound mad anymore, but I don't remember giving them permission to hunt in my range." He didn't look or sound mad, just puzzled. I figured Alice, is vampires could think about other things while they hunted, was blocking her thoughts from her brother.
"What is she thinking?" I asked. He truly laughed for me.
"Well, when she's drinking it's a mix of lust and more Arabic, but when she's searching for her meal she's not the Alice you know. She allows her mind-we all do- to become the monster."
"And Jasper?" He laughed again.
"Jasper is always Jasper. Even when he hunts he plans for every possible move. His mind is complex. For example, right now there's a bear near the waterfall, and he's thinking that it would be best to run and attack it from it's left side; however, if the bear suspects him and runs away Alice is ready to follow it, too. Far too much planning for my taste."
After a rushed lunch Edward and I came home (Jody and Josh wanted to stay out later, but gave up when Edward told them we had company. Just like at school most people stayed away from people like Edward. The thought of more clearly made them uneasy.). Alice and Jasper were sitting on the couch waiting for us.
"We all don't have your restraint, Edward," growled little Alice.
"I personally want her to be around forever," added Jasper with a smile. Edward only rolled his eyes.
"You know that family is always welcome in my range, but warning are nice," he politely answered. Our attention turned to the flashing red light in the kitchen: new messages. The results? I pressed "play" on the answering machine.
"Edward and Isabella, this is Dr. Smithers. I have personally compared the DNA samples-twice. I'm afraid you'll be the talk of our world. The child is yours, Edward. I plan to call you father later for some kind of an explaination."
Before the next message began Edward had me locked in his arms, pushing us against the wall, in the hardest kiss a human and every experienced. It didn't hurt, but I wished he would ease up. His tongue pressed between my lips and danced with mine, still protecting me from his teeth. When I couldn't take it anymore I wiggled free from his grasp to breathe again. He lightly kissed my ear.
"How can I make this up to you?"
"Just kiss me again."
