There is a story behind this story.
I was on my way to church, listening to my iPod, when the song featured in this fic ("Reclusion" by Anberlin) came up. I was sitting in the car and all like "Wow. This sounds like Laurent. This sounds a lot like Laurent!" I'd always kind of liked that particular vampire, and I was sad that he'd never had his story told. He was kind of cool, even though he was all trying to kill Bella in New Moon. Still, he had underestimated Bella's vampire friends, and probably wouldn't have harmed her had he known that Victoria would be defeated by the Cullens and the Werewolves.
Later, I was texting some of my other friends (also Twlighters) and telling them about the song, and I found out they agreed with me.
I was thinking about it that night, and reviewing the lyrics of Anberlin's "Reclusion" when suddenly a story began to form. I wrote half of it down that night, but didn't actually finish it until over the summer. Then I had some of my Twlighter friends read it, and they suggested I make it public.
So, Laurent's story was born.
