A/N : Sorry for the slow update but I was so full of ideas for my other story that I've ended up neglecting this one a bit but to make up for it, here's an extra long chapter. I promise I'll try to be quicker with the updates. Please review because they help motivate me into writing and thanks for the ones I have so far, they're great.
Jack banged on the Tardis doors for what seemed like forever until a very agrivated Martha Jones opened them and stood there, against the doorway with her arms folded."What do you want, Jack? we're kind of busy" she said, coldly. Jack knew that he'd behaved like a idoit earlier but he was really, honestly, sorry about it and was really concerned about Jenny. Afterall, alien or not, she barely looked twenty five.
"Look I know I was a real jerk earlier but I've come to my senses. The Doctor obviously cares about her so she can't be that bad can she?" he asked and Martha could really see he was truly sorry but it was going to take more than that for her to let him see her.
"She doesn't like tests for a reason Jack and you don't know the whole story " she said, standing in the way of the doors so he couldn't get through. He frowned at her.
"Then why don't you tell me, Martha Jones?"
"It's not that simple. The reason she doesn't like tests is tied up with the reason I can't tell you the whole story" Martha replied calmly but Jack was getting angry.
"Does she not trust me? do you not trust me? Martha you know I won't do anything to her, what could possibly be so bad that she couldn't tell me? why she so scared? and why is the Doctor so protective of her?" Jack asked all these questions that Martha didn't have the right to answear.
"I'll let you in but if you want the answers, ask the Doctor, he'll tell you better than I can" she sighed and walked back inside, the captain instantly following her. Martha walked through the tardis corridor and knocked on the door of the infrimary before walking in and seeing the Doctor forcing some sort of liquid down Jenny's throat and putting a cold sock of her forehead."You really do look like her dad" Martha smiled and The Doctor looked sort of pleased at this but then he notice Jack appear at the doorway and Martha's eyes widened in alarm as she realised what she just said. "Oh bloody hell, Jack, pleae say you didn't hear that?" but obviously he had as his expression turned from concern to shock.
"Your Jenny's father ?" he asked, his voice high pitched. The Doctor glared at Martha who cringed and ran out of the room before she could cause anymore trouble. Martha had explained to the Doctor how Jenny didn't want anybody to know what she was or who her dad was and now she'd gone and blurted it out to Jack of all people.
"Yes" he replied, no point in denying it now. Jack wasn't so bad really, it was just torchwood he didn't trust and they'd certainly rubbed off a bit on his old friend and former con man.
"How? you never said you had a daughter and besides...wait a minute..she's blonde! have you and Rose not told me something?" Jack asked looking freaked out and the Doctor shot him a glare.
"Me and Rose were never like that, Jack" he said and turned back to his daughter."If you must know she came out of a machine using my DNA. She's a generated anormaly but she's like me in alot of ways so that makes her my daughter, even if it's not natural" he said almost defensively at the captain even though he hadn't said a word.
"Is she a timelord?" Jack said looking at Jenny curiously.
"Timelady" the Doctor corrected him.
"Why wasn't she travelling with you?"
"I thought she was dead, she was shot the same day she was made and I left her" The Doctor explained sounding sad. Jack felt the need to say something but then Jenny woke up. Her temperature had gone down quite alot and her eyes and skin were back to normal. The Doctor's medicine was obviously working it's magic. When she opened her eyes, her eyes widened as if she couldn't believe she was seeing.
"Dad?" Jenny asked quietly. The Doctor smiled at her.
"Hello Jenny" he replied and looked as if he didn't know what to say. Sensing this was a private moment, Jack walked out and left the two alone to talk.Jenny opened her eyes and saw her father, her real father, looking down at her with concern. That had made both of Jenny's hearts melt in delight. She'd been hoping to find him for so long and now here he was, holding her hand.
"Dad?" she asked, just to check she wasn't hallucinating. She prayed hard that she wasn't hallucinating, that would just be too disappointing.
"Hello Jenny" he replied, letting her know this was real. She smiled softly. They had so much to catch up on but then she realised she wasn't feeling so sick anymore so he must of taken care of her.
"Where am I?" she asked, noticing she was in some kind of infirmary.
"In my ship's infirmary" he said, confirming her suspicions.
"How did you find me?"
"Well Martha called me this morning and when I came you were all glowing. I took a walk with Martha to try to figure out what was wrong but when we'd returned, you'd gone. We looked all over until my sonic screwdriver detected you and we found you in a feild in the same state as this morning and took you back to the tardis, infirmary so I could check you out. I realised it was some alien infection you must of picked up from your ship after it's collision with the aestroid which usually has all sorts of alien bacteria all over them and now here we are" he said and grinned at her. Jenny grinned back. "So where did you go when you left Messaline?" Jenny's smile suddenly faded but she decided she'd tell him what had happened if Martha hadn't already done so. She told him and his expression clouded over with anger. "You had to save yourself? what was this planet called because I'm going to find whoever did that to you and..." A gleam in Jenny's eyes made him stop. Suddenly she started to laugh."What's so funny?
"That would make you the world's biggest hypocrite. You, the man who hates violence and told me off more than once for it, threatening an entire species" the Doctor looked at her seriously.
"It's different when it's my family on the line". Jenny stopped laughing and looked as if she was going to cry.
"Do you really mean that? I'm not just an echo " She asked softly and he cringed as he remembered what he'd labelled her on Messaline.
"Your my daughter of course I mean that and I'm not going to let anyone else hurt you" he vowed and Jenny felt touched.
"I love you" she blurted out and he looked at her suprised.
"You barely know me that well" he pointed out quietly.
"That might be true but we have all the time in the world to work on it, if you want to that is" Jenny instantly added incase she was just making assumptions.
"Of course I do. Do you want to come travel with me, Jenny?" he asked, feeling more hopeful than he had in the past few months.
"Yeah I'd love that" she said and then a voice coughed at the door. They both turned and saw captain Jack leaning against the doorframe."Jenny can I talk to you for a second if you two have finished?" he asked and the Doctor looked at Jenny who nodded at him. The Doctor got up, shot Jack a warning look that said flirt with her Harkness and you'll have me to answear too. The captain ignored him though and shut the door so they could have some privacy.
"Jenny, why didn't you tell me the truth?" he asked sitting where the Doctor was sat earlier. She looked at him upset.
"I told Martha not to tell you"
"She didn't, I overheard" he said truthfully."Besides why do you think I'm going to do?" She looked at him as if he was stupid.
"Torchwood would want to run all sorts of tests and experiments on me and make me into some lab rat. Do you know what that feels like? I was scared Jack and I was alone on a alien planet. Do you really think I was just going to trust a complete stranger?". He looked at her sympathatically. Now he knew why she was so afraid of telling him the truth.
"I'm immortal" he said and her head snapped up in shock. "Not alot of people know that, not even torchwood really"
"You don't trust them?" she asked slowly.
"I trust them to protect Earth but they'd probably want to do to me what you just mentioned and I don't want that either" he sighed. Jenny didn't know if he was lying or not but since her dad and Martha seemed to know him pretty well, she decided she'd trust him for now.
"Thank you and I'm sorry" she said and his eyes shot towards her face.
"What for?" he asked suprised.
"For telling me that. I think I can trust you captain" she smiled. He breathed a sigh of relief. "And I am very sorry about kicking you in the stomach earlier but I was panicked. And also, one word to anyone about me and I'll kill you a thousand times over" she joked but then she looked at him sympathatically. He had a feeling he knew what was coming."If your immortal, won't it be hard for you watching everyone you know and love, grow old and eventually die?". Jenny didn't know if he would answear this or not but to her suprise, he did.
"Yeah it scares me to death, ironically" he tried to joke but couldn't and his eyes looked sad."But I don't really have a choice so I don't let myself think about it. I'm kind of just destined to be alone, a bit like the Doctor actually but even he will die one day. I won't ever". Jenny felt so heartbroken for him that she couldn't help herself. Despite only just recovering from some alien flu, she grabbed hold of his coatand pulled him to her before brushing her lips against his. They deepened the kiss and it was slowly, growing more passionate when the infirmary door broke open and a voice growled "get your hands off my daughter Harkness" they pulled apart with guilty faces. Well that kind of ruined the moment.
