After what seemed like an infinite amount of time, Leia laid on the beach, absorbing as much of the glorious sunlight as she could. She had been drifting in and out of sleep for the past hour, relishing in simply being able to relax. It was a foreign concept to both her and Han, so whenever the opportunity arose, she grabbed hold of it the best she could.

Come to think of it, Leia was quite curious as to how she had been allowed to drift in and out of sleep for the past hour. While her husband enjoyed resting as much as anyone, he was the most restless man she knew, and his favorite thing to distract himself was her. Opening one eye lid, she looked beside her, and was suddenly frightened to see that Han was not there.

"Oh Gods," she thought. "What is that scoundrel up to?"

But before she could do anything else on the matter, Leia suddenly became very cold and very wet. Jumping up, she ran about as her body tried to acclimate itself from the heat of the sun, to the coldness of the freezing water her husband had just poured on her.

"Han!" She screamed at him. "How dare you! What were you thinking? You-you-you-OH! I don't even know what to say to you right now!"

Han was trying his very best to look ashamed of himself, but the laughter still shone in his eyes.

"Well, your Highness, I was thinking you looked mighty hot just stewing there in the sun, and I thought I might remedy that for you."

"I was very comfortable the way I was, thank you very much. I happen to enjoy the warmth."

"And I thought that, since you wouldn't get up to see how nice the water was, then I would just bring the water to you."

"And what exactly gave you this idea?"

"Sheer genius," he said this with finality. "It got you up didn't it?"

"I didn't want to get up right now."

But Leia knew that her argument was futile. As much as she hated what he had done, she couldn't stay mad at him for very long. For one thing, it was their special weekend, and she was trying to cut him as much slack as possible. Not to mention, the way that he was standing there, sun-kissed and glistening with sweat, she didn't even want to spend her time mad at him.

That didn't mean she couldn't get revenge.

"Han?" she asked him sweetly.

He looked slightly taken aback at her change of attitude, but recovered quickly.

"Yes, sweetheart?"

"There's no one else around."

He didn't say anything as she sauntered closer to him, standing directly in front of him, she reached up and kissed him on the lips. Deep and lingering, Leia took her time exploring his mouth and battling her tongue against his. Just as he went to move things further along, Leia broke the kiss and looked up at him. She batted her eyelashes and smiled.

And then she ran.

Taking the briefest of moments to look back at him, Leia laughed at loud at Han standing stock still in shock. He certainly hadn't been expecting that. But just as soon as she had ran, he came quickly after, and he was much faster than her.

She diverted her attention back to what was in front of her as she increased her speed. She didn't know where she was heading, but she was running out of space between her and the water. Sucking it up, she ran directly into the ocean, and dove head first into a wave.

It was freezing, but brilliant.

Leia was floating now, as she both felt and heard her husband follow her suit. She looked up as his head bobbed above the water. He pulled her close to him and kissed her, his arms firmly surrounding her so as to keep her from escaping again. Leia had no intention of leaving, and she turned to reach him at a better angle.

"I suppose the water isn't all that bad," she told him between breaths.

He smirked as he told her, "It certainly does have its moments."

Hours later, Leia was washing the sand out of her hair in the shower, while Han perused the dine-in menu for dinner. The pair had spent the better part of their time on the beach, capping off the day by watching the sunset. It had been a wonderfully mushy day just spent together, and Leia didn't think she had ever been happier.

She was now fairly certain that, no matter what she had gotten Han as a present, he would just be content that it came from her. Walking into the bedroom, she watched him flip curiously through the menu, and felt that now was as good a time as any to give him the final part of his present.

As she walked over to her suitcase, Han looked up and smiled at her. It was a simple smile, lacking any of his usual devilishness. She beamed at him and grazed her hand through his hair, before reaching down and digging around for the package.

She looked up to see him looking at her suspiciously.

"What do you have there, sweetheart?"

"Oh, it's just a little something I picked up for you."

Even though she knew he would never reject anything that she gave him, her heart pounded despite her knowing mind.

"I thought this was it?"

She moved to sit down on the bed now beside him, trembling slightly.

"Yes, well, this trip was the majority of your gift, but there was one last thing I wanted you to have. It's not much, and it's very old, but, well, it has a lot of meaning."

He didn't say anything, but the curiosity grew in his eyes.

"Han, this belonged to my father. I think he must have sensed something might-might happen to him before he died because he protected a few of his more valuable possessions."

She couldn't look at him as she said this because, even after all this time had passed, it was still a sensitive topic she didn't like to rehash. Han noticed her hesitance and reached his hand over to cup her chin, gently urging her to lock eyes with him. His eyes bore into her.

Leia smiled slightly, shyly, before continuing.

"It took some time to find this because he didn't exactly leave things out in the open, and he had quite a few hiding spots, but thankfully he had told me where they all were. The only thing I had to do was to track them down and search through each of the areas for what I was looking for. Once I did that it all happened rather easily."

She held out the small wrapped package to him, but he didn't take it, nor look away from her.

She continued, "And well, I don't even know if you'll like it all that much, but just know that it's important to me, and I, well I really want you to have it. Because- well because, there was once a time when my father was the only man in this world that I knew that I could trust, and now that he's gone, as stupid as it may sound, you've sort of taken over that role, albeit in a very different way, and I just thought, if he were here today, he'd want you to have it himself."

Han waited patiently to make sure she was finished with what she wanted to say. Leia was blushing furiously, but was also excited. Without breaking eye contact, Han took the package out of her shaking hand and began to unwrap it.

Now, he looked down to examine what lay in his hand, and when he looked up, and Leia saw there were tears in his eyes, she let out a breath she hadn't known she was holding.

As he looked at her, Han tried to speak.

"Leia," he muttered, but couldn't continue.

It seemed that, for the first time in his life, Han Solo didn't have the words to express what he was feeling. And so he kissed her. And she knew exactly what he meant.

Now grinning against his mouth, Leia was overjoyed with relief and contentment. Han smiled too, laughing slightly at her expression, and now went to examine his gift more intently.

It was a beautiful golden watch, scarred with age, but renowned with meaning. She helped him clasp it onto his wrist before kissing him once more.

Han stopped laughing abruptly and looked as serious as Leia had ever seen him. Her smile faltered for a moment, but something told her she needn't be worried.

He opened his mouth to speak to her.

"Thank you- I really-, I love it, Leia."

She smirked at him, laughter building inside her once again.

"I know."

And she did.
