Day Three; Night

Droplets of crystalline water cascading heavily from the gray clouds amidst the dark cerulean sky, occasional rumbles and flashes of lightening here and there, the only thing lighting up the shore as the wood for the fire was by now, drenched. The gang was crowded beneath their shared tents, some mixed, but others not. She was huddled beneath Tori and Trina's small and cramped hut, only because Tori had wanted company other than her older and conceded sister, who was with Robbie in his own tent. Andre accompanied them, and the trio sat on each corner of the not-so-spacious tent with their legs crossed and backs leaning against nothing, in fear that they would knock the entire thing to kingdom come.

Cat was the farthest from the entrance to the hut and curled up in a tiny ball on the left back corner, chocolate brown eyes glued to the rain dropping heavily upon the shore and Mr. Longneck in her lap. She could honestly say, that even in Italy (where she had the pleasure of growing up in) and even while she lived in New York, she had never seen so much rain in her entire life in such little time. California didn't rain much, a drizzle here and there if anything and ending with a beautiful, sparkly rainbow she always wanted to follow. But here, on this supposedly deserted island they were all stranded on, there wasn't a rainbow in sight after any rainstorm.

It went something like this: Rain, thunder, then cloudy skies and humidity.

Which she found highly depressing. And she hated depressing.

A sigh automatically pried from her slightly parted and beginning to chap lips as she allowed for her gaze to travel down to the water bottle wrung by each of her tiny hands, her mouth beginning to dry. She knew until she and Brent had found a water source somewhere (which they had both planned to go once again tomorrow, this time in the east), the gang had to save up on the water they had left, and the water they were currently collecting from the rain, as well as the ocean water they were purifying whenever it was sunny. Cat's water bottle was not even half full, and she didn't have enough water for more than one sip to spare for the next day – the lack of water they possessed was beginning to scare her even more so than it had before, because by now she would have figured that rescue would have found them already and brought them back home.

Her exhale cast the eyes of the other two people within the tent alongside of her, seeming to have broken the unusual silence like strong, steel swords and she subconsciously squeaked.

"You okay, Lil Red?" Andre asked genuinely, reaching over and placing a dark hand on her knee.

"I'm thirsty" She held up her almost empty water bottled and indicated to the lack of liquid within it, "and I'm exhausted and I just want to go home already" She continued with a quivering bottom lip, her voice shaking and her face heating up. She hadn't cried, surprisingly, since they had been on this island and she felt as if the emotion was beginning to get a little bit overwhelming; it wasn't like she feared crying (she did it all the time) but a tiny part of her wanted to be brave like the rest of them, even though she knew that was almost impossible. Especially with being bipolar.

"Well are you and Brent close to finding anything when you guys go out and stuff?" Tori inquired her as she leaned over and linked their arms together, resting her head atop of Cat's. She supposed it was a comfort thing, or just because they hadn't spoken much or seen each other much over the course of the incident.

"No, not really!" She explained, her head on the much taller girls shoulder and her eyes on Andre, who was staring at the Half-Latina with a frown. "We're going to try again tomorrow, but east this time! I think it's east…maybe it's west…No, no it's definitely east!"

"Do you guys need help? I mean, me and Andre can probably tag along with you if you want?" She suggested, and the burly 16 year old nodded in agreement.

"Yay! That'd be really great! You're so nice" Cat giggled with a shy smile, navy azure painted nails tapping anxiously at the cap of her water bottle. She wasn't exactly sure what Brent would think with the extra company or if he even wanted it, but she wasn't about to be rude to either of her very good friends and refuse their offer flat handedly. Nor did she even want too, she figured the company would be nice to have around, regardless if it was a crowd or not, and besides; she was too nice and she didn't want anybody's feelings to get hurt.

Instinctively, Cat brought her hand up and grasped a small set of long, thin magenta hair from her shoulder and twirled it between her fingers, the silence becoming present once again. It was never, and she repeats, never this silent when the three of them were together and she just assumed that maybe it was because of the situation they were in, and there was nothing else to argue that with. It was the only reasonable explanation anyhow, or at least, the only one that she could think of.

"Hey!" Tori snapped her fingers suddenly and pulled away from Cat, leaning over to Andre with a growing smile; the former and Cat herself, both jumped at the sudden outburst. "Remember what you said in Beck's RV the one time we went to the beach and got stuck?"

"There was a lot of things said, girl. What are you talking about?" Andre asked with a slightly amused grin, but he looked rather confused and bewildered.

"Something about making things better by singing a song!" The other girl said. "It was really stupid, but it worked!"

"You don't really think that's going to work…do you?" His face marred with half amusement, half shock. Cat, unsure of what either of them were talking about, picked at Mr. Longneck's button brown nose with her fingernails and frowned.

"What are you guys talking about?" She asked with mildly curious eyes, quirking and perfectly arching her left eyebrow as she glanced between the two of them.

"You weren't there, Cat, you wouldn't understand what we're talking about." Tori replied casually, still staring at Andre.

Offended, she dropped Mr. Longneck to the blanket beneath them and furrowed her brows with a squeal of her oh-so-famous catch phrase "What's that supposed to mean!" whilst simultaneously causing both of her close friends to jump up in surprise and stare wide-eyed at her sudden exclamation. Tori parted her lips once, twice, with rapidly blinking eyes and narrowed golden brown eyes Cat hated to admit she was jealous of.

"N-nothing, I was just…I was just saying you weren't there! You were with those cute boys you told me about." She defended, stuttering on her words as she struggled to find a decent way to explain the obvious statement to the redhead.

Regardless Cat uncrossed her legs uncomfortably in the confined space and grabbed her toy giraffe, making a beeline for the entrance of the tent and whilst doing so, stepping over various, scattered things in the process. "You're so mean to me!" She shouted over her shoulder as she marched from the tent and into the now furious rainstorm without so much of a care in the world. A part of her knew that there was no reason to get so offended, but another part of her screamed that she should have been; that they were purposely going over memories she wasn't present in on purpose, to make her feel left out or something of that nature.

Mr. Longneck squished against her breasts she wandered farther away from the tent with no actual destination. So as she walked, she let her bare feet carry her in the direction of the vast ocean front, to feel the ice cold water pierce her tiny curled toes and bury her in the sand as if she was sinking, or as she liked to think, as if she was slowly being brought down to a secret underground cavern where she would then be promptly brought to King Titan from Little Mermaid, for whatever unknown reason.

There wasn't an exact purpose for Cat to be so naïve and childlike. She hadn't inherited any of Mouse's "special problems" despite being severely bipolar, and it most definitely wasn't genetic. Her mother had made her go through tests, blood tests, vision tests, ADHD tests - came positive, that did - accompanied by attending therapist appointments and having pills shoved down her throat every night before she went to bed. Over and over she had tried to convince them that it was as simple as a life style choice, an act that she had grown far too used to, a personality she built and now, quite can't escape in exception to forgetting to take her pills in order to deal with her "problem."

As if her feet had minds of their own (she thought that'd be pretty cool, actually) and had predicted what was going to happen, the raging waves crashed upon the shore and the tide raised, foaming water scooping up the belongings scattered around the still, battered plane upon the beach. Cat let slip a dramatic gasp, eyes lingering upon the pink trunk she had packed her necessities in (principally her make-up, pills, tooth brush and etc), flopped and was tugged away with the rest of the others luggage.

"NOOO!" She shrieked as she dropped her plush giraffe into the damp sand, bright magenta hair soaked and clinging to her face and her bare shoulders. By now, her short denim shorts and gray tank top were beyond sopping wet, clutching her skin so uncomfortably she found it almost difficult to run. Her shrill scream radiated throughout the beach and had to her luck, gained everyone's divided attention; however she found she could not bring herself to yell out to them, to tell them what was wrong, as she was too focused on getting her bag that she saw and heard nothing else. It might have seemed selfish on her part but it was in fact, not – whilst scrambling after her own suitcase she had managed to grab Robbie's backpack and toss it back to shore as far as her thin arms could throw (which evidently, wasn't very far), as she wasn't about to let it float away.

The seven others who had emerged from their tents only mere seconds ago, had rushed into action straight away, carrying all their necessities and their bags to safer and somewhat drier shore – which meant the beach chairs they had brought, and the towels that had dropped from the damaged wing of the plane. They were shouting at each other, from what she could tell, demanding things to be done and screaming orders: "Put this there! Get that, hurry up! Trina, don't just fucking stand there, do something!" left and right.

With her bag just in reach, she kicked off of her heels and lunged for the last tiny bag of hers; one that evidently held the things she needed the most. If she didn't get this…

Her open hand clasped around nothing but sand and foaming salt water, just barely grazing the small baggy filled with the medicine she needed to take daily. Breathes coming in short pants, Cat laid flat upon her stomach within the shallow water (the way she had originally and quite painfully landed) and bowed her head in defeat, burying her face into the scarred skin upon her forearm and allowing for the ice cold water to wash over her, coughing as she choked. She stayed rooted in her spot, shivering cold and absolutely spent, until a pair of arms encircled around her waist and hoisted her out of the water before something unwanted happened.

For once though, Cat really wished she drowned.

Not that great once again, but nevertheless I hope you enjoyed it! I was trying really hard to get back into my writing zone towards the end, but ah well…this was the best I can do. I'm going to spend a little bit more time on the next chapter, it's going to be a bit emotional (character-wise at least), and I really want it to be good.

Oh, and I've gotten a review for the very first chapter a while ago, asking me not to kill anybody off. I'm not so sure I'm going too. It's most likely that they're all going to be alright, but I have an ending for both scenarios just to be prepared.

Review away! The more reviews, the more chapter updates! (:
