Back at the tower, the team sat around in the main lobby, furiously typing and working away- trying to locate Red X. "Any sign of him?" asked Robin as he walked through the main doors.
"Nothing yet," answered Cyborg, his eyes still fixed on the main computer monitor. "I doubt we're going to run into him again for a while."
"We still have to keep looking," said Robin, sternly pounding his fist into his palm.
"Chill man," sighed Cyborg as he turned away from the computer. "I highly doubt that Red X is going to make two robberies in one day."
"Yeah that's a pretty bold move," added Beast Boy. "Even for an ego-maniac like him."
"Besides," continued Raven. "He still managed to get away with some of the jewelry. That should keep him busy for a while." Robin stood and looked around at his council of friends. Though each of their points rung true, he was still determined to find the thief and bring him in.
"Yeah but-"
"Relax," interrupted Apollo from the couch. Quickly everyone turned in response to the remark. "Cyborg's right; the creep won't be making anymore moves for a while," she said as a large hologram exploded from her wrist. "I've got every jewelers, specialty outlet, and bank on watch. If he tries anything, I'll know." She said as she confidently pointed to the images above her wrist. As she continued to probe her findings the others all began to crowd around, staring at the amazingly realistic images being projected into the air.
"Dude!" cried Beast Boy as he and the others all stared in amazement.
"What is this?" asked Starfire as she innocently tried to touch the intangible images; her eyes glowing with curiosity. "How are you doing this?"
Apollo smiled as she closed down the projection and pulled back her glove, once again revealing her small silver bracelet. "Um, cute?" responded Raven in confusion.
"Yeah, they had nicer stuff in the store," added Beast Boy jokingly.
"It's not meant to look nice," said Apollo as she stood up, her arm still held up in front of her. "Weapons aren't supposed to be cute…"
"Uh… weapons?" asked Cyborg in confusion. Confidently, Apollo smiled as the large shield from before exploded from the wristband! Everyone stared in amazement as she then concentrated back on the bracelet, which in response turned into a sleek metal gauntlet, the a set of brass knuckles with claw-like blades on the ends.
"Whoa!" everyone exclaimed in unison. "How the-"
"You like it?" asked Apollo smiling. "I made it myself."
"Hold up; you made this!" asked Cyborg in shock.
"Yep," Apollo nodded as the wristlet shifted back to its original form and the large holograph reappeared. "Neurologic technology; you see, the bracelet is designed specifically for me. It's synched to my nervous system- my brain…" everyone stared, eyes wide in disbelief. "It's designed to respond to my subconscious commands- to my thoughts; whatever I think, it does!"
"Wow," everyone cried in awe.
"I've never seen- let alone heard of- anything like this," said Cyborg, still staring at the wristlet. "How did you come up with the technology to build this device?"
"Wayne Enterprises," Apollo replied casually. Everyone looked up at the girl in confusion. "I got the prototype files from one of their government branches. I was six years old; a preliminary mission." She laughed quietly as she reflected on the account. "Heh, actually, it was the first thing I ever sto-" quickly, she silenced herself and began to cover the bracelet when she realized what she was bragging about. Robin and the others simply looked at her with little emotion; they knew what she was going to say, but decided to remain quiet and pretend they had heard anything. There a brief moment of silence before Raven finally signaled for everyone to get back to work; Cyborg then suggested that they make a call for some pizza.
During dinner, the team sat around the table indulging in double cheese and Hawaiian pizza. While doing so, everyone continued to laugh and joke about their usual conversational topics; all that is, except for Apollo, who quietly sat and ate her dinner at the end of the table. Silently, she ate alone, looking down at the shining silver (stolen) wristband from time to time. It was a moment before anyone even noticed how quite she had been; but by then the meal and social time was over and the team was returning to work trying to find Red X.
After an hour or two with no results, the team finally decided to call it a night and end their search. All equipment was prepped for shutdown and the security system was activated for the night. Lazily, everyone began to walk toward their rooms for the night; upon doing so, everyone exchanged good-nights before closing their doors for the night. Before shutting his own door, Robin noticed that the light was still on in Apollo's room. Curious as to what she was doing he walked across the hall and knocked on her door, "Hey," she replied glumly without turning around as her friend entered the room.
"Hey its late, you okay?" asked Robin as he sat beside her on the bed.
Still not looking up, Apollo replied, "Yeah, I'm fine." Following her gaze, Robin looked down to her hands- watching her fiddle with the bracelet. Seeing the expression on Robin's face, Apollo sighed and looked him in the eye, "Don't worry," she chuckled faintly. "This is the only memento I kept from my past… willingly anyway." She looked down and continued to fiddle with the high tech fashion statement.
"It's okay," replied Robin reassuringly. "The guys just need some time to-" suddenly there was a loud shrieking sound as the tower's alert system went off. Immediately, Robin and Apollo rose and ran down the hall to the main lobby to see what had triggered the alarm. Sitting in front of the computer, Raven pulled up the alert link; a robbery was taking place at the local arsenal- just around the corner from the jewelers! Red X! "Titans GO!" shouted Robin as he and the others all flew out door and set out to stop the thief before he was able to commit two crimes in one day. As they boarded their vehicles, Apollo sat and thought to herself about before.
'There better not be anymore 'gifts' involved; what's he gonna give me this time? A gun?' she thought to herself as she started off on her cycle behind Robin and the T-car. Little did she know that there was a much bigger surprise waiting for her at their destination…
