A/N: Inspired by Animal by Neon Trees
This is a long drabble about Snapes thoughts of Lily Evans in school. Please R&R! :) Constructive criticism is great!

Here we go again. I sit outside the corridor watching her flirt with that James Potter. The pain I feel in my heart grows deeper with each passing day. I wish she could see it. If only she could understand how strongly I feel about her.

This is more than friendship. I love her. I love Lily Evans with every fiber of my being, but she doesn't care. She's like a cannibal, eating more and more of my soul with each laugh, each smile she throws my way.

Potions Class is my special time with her. We are far beyond our peers, so we spend that time together like we used to. I charm her with my smarts. I sometimes teach her spells I created myself. That really impresses her. But it's never enough. Even though she acts like she is repulsed by his arrogant manner, I know she adores him.

I catch her sometimes staring at him. She'll be talking to me about her friends or the horrid amount of homework she had in defense against the dark arts and stop mid-sentence. If only I could make her look at me the same way Potter did. If only she could love me the way she loved him.
