A/N: I know, I broke my promise, it's been so long since I last updated. I hate this. I have no imagination whatsoever. I'm taking two polls:
IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!
First, I put this story under M because I had intended for it to have sex in it, (and it is possible between the two characters) but it would be my first time writing a sex scene (but believe me, I've read plenty of them). And second, if I do write a sex scene on a scale of 0 to 5 how kinky should it be. (just a note I won't make it to kinky, because I'm uncomfortable with a lot of things like hardcore bdsm, sexual asphyxiation, sado-masochism, threesomes (because I think Bella and Edward would never share their love with someone else) etc.)
Disclaimer: I own nothing but my own ideas and mistakes (yes, I can own my mistakes)
Witchy Woman
Bleed It Out
The next day, Thursday, started off rather odd. Bella was climbing out of her truck cab when she dropped her keys. Bending down to pick them up, she saw a white hand in front of her, already holding them.
"How do you do that?"
"Do what?" He held her key out as he spoke. As she reached for it, he dropped it into her palm.
"Appear out of thin air."
"Bella, it's not my fault if you are exceptionally unobservant." His voice was quiet as usual — velvet, muted.
She scowled at his perfect face. His eyes were light again today, a deep, golden honey color. Then she had to look down, to reassemble her now-tangled thoughts.
"Why the traffic jam last night?" She demanded, still looking away. "I thought you were supposed to be pretending I don't exist, not irritating me to death."
"That was for Tyler's sake, not mine. I had to give him his chance." He snickered.
"You…" She gasped. She could feel the anger boiling beneath her skin. That scratch in his paint last night wasn't nearly as large as it should have been. She should have destroyed his car. She stopped herself; she had to calm down before she made him even more suspicious.
"And I'm not pretending you don't exist," he continued.
"So you are trying to irritate me to death? Since Tyler's van didn't do the job?"
Anger flashed in his tawny eyes. His lips pressed into a hard line, all signs of humor gone.
"Bella, you are utterly absurd," he said, his low voice cold.
Bella could feel the anger gathering in force, her magic would go haywire within seconds; she had to get out of there fast. She turned her back to him and started to walk away.
"Wait," he called. She kept walking, sloshing through the rain, keeping her emotions in check and trying to escape this situation. But he was next to her, easily keeping pace.
"I'm sorry, that was rude," he said as they walked. Bella continued to ignore him; she was afraid of getting into an argument if she said something. "I'm not saying it isn't true," he continued, "but it was rude to say it, anyway."
"Why won't you leave me alone?" She grumbled finally.
"I wanted to ask you something, but you sidetracked me," he chuckled. He seemed to have recovered his good humor.
"Do you have a multiple personality disorder?" She asked severely.
"You're doing it again."
Bella sighed heavily. "Fine then, what do you want to ask?"
"I was wondering if, a week from Saturday — you know, the day of the spring dance —"
"Are you trying to be funny?" She interrupted him, wheeling toward him. Her anger was returning in waves and she was powerless to stop it.
His eyes were wickedly amused. "Will you please allow me to finish?"
She closed her eyes and breathed deeply through her nose, hoping to calm down some.
"I heard you say you were going to Seattle that day, and I was wondering if you wanted a ride."
That was unexpected.
"What?"
"Do you want a ride to Seattle?"
"I thought we agreed to not talk to be friends?" Bella said completely dazed.
"No, we agreed not to talk about our own little secrets, I'm drawn to you Bella, I'm tired of fighting this." Edward's eyes were so intense Bella forgot to breathe for a minute. "So do you want a ride?"
Bella couldn't breath much less speak, so she just nodded.
"Good." Edward smirked, bearing his teeth. "I'll see you soon then."
Completely stunned, (she found herself this way more and more since she had moved to Forks) Bella hardly paid attention in class. She was vaguely aware of Jessica's fully recovered, incessant, chatter.
Walking into the lunch room Bella unconsciously looked towards Edward's table, and noticed he wasn't there. Had he left again? She spiraled down from there, thinking first that he had changed his mind, next that she had imagined their conversation this morning. By the time she sat down at her usual table she was considering just going home. Staring at her lemonade, the only thing she had bought for lunch, she became aware that Jessica had stopped talking.
Looking up, she noticed that Jessica was looking over her shoulder. Not at all curious, Bella went back to staring at her lemonade.
"Edward Cullen is staring at you." Jessica said, catching Bella's attention. "I wonder why he's sitting alone today."
Bella's head snapped up, she looked to where Jessica was staring and saw Edward smiling at her crookedly. He raised his hand and gestured her over to where he was sitting.
"Does he mean you?" Jessica said her voice laced with astonishment.
"Maybe he needs help with biology." Bella said for Jessica's benefit, as she got up and went to his table.
Bella sat down across from Edward and they just stared at each other for a minute.
"So …" Bella started, "this is different."
"Well, if we're going to be friends, we have to start somewhere." Edward said with a small smile on his face.
Bella looked over at his family, they were all looking away, but they looked distinctly unhappy. All of them except for Alice, Alice met Bella's gaze and shot her a large smile and winked at her, as if she and Bella were in on a secret together.
"Your family doesn't look happy that we're sitting together, well everyone but Alice." Bella said.
"They don't approve of us being friends. We don't usually become friends with people outside our family, as for Alice." His eyes seemed to darken slightly and he took on an annoyed look. "There's something she won't tell me and its starting to get on my nerves."
"What won't she tell you?" Bella asked trying to be nonchalant.
Edward looked even more upset, "someone scratched my car yesterday." Bella tried to suppress a smile. Edward didn't seem to notice. "And Alice knows who it was, but she won't tell me." Bella's head snapped to Alice again, and again Alice smiled and winked.
She knows. Bella couldn't be sure, but she just had a feeling that Alice knew about her secret. But she didn't tell Edward. What could this mean? Bella's thoughts reeled. She couldn't figure this out. How could Alice know? Why didn't she tell Edward? So many thoughts were racing through her mind.
"Bella … Bella"
Bella looked up and realized she had spaced out for a significant amount of time.
"Tell me what you're thinking." Edward was staring at her, like he was trying to look into her soul.
"I was just thinking about your sister," without thinking, the words just spilled out of her mouth. "I was wondering why she wouldn't tell you such a crucial piece of information if she knew it."
Edward nodded, he was very attached to that car, she could tell.
Bella took a second to look around and collect her thoughts. Almost everyone was gone.
"We're going to be late for class." Bella started getting up.
"I'm not going to class; it's healthy to cut once in awhile."
"Well, I'm going." And with that Bella walked to class alone and sat at her table.
A few minutes later Mr. Banner came into the class with a box and started to explain the day's lab. It was blood typing she realized belatedly. Edward was right, it is healthy to cut once in awhile.
Bella couldn't blood type, who knows what her blood would look like or show. She might not even have a blood type. She may look human, but she knew she was far from human. For all she knew, her blood might be purple. This was not good.
Thinking quickly Bella decided the best thing to do would be to pretend to be sick. Bella laid her head down on the table and closed her eyes. She concentrated really hard and made her skin appear pale and sweaty. Looking up, she called to Mr. Banner.
"Mr. Banner, I already know what my blood type is, can I skip this lab."
Mr. Banner looked concerned, "Sure, do you want to go to the nurse Bella, you look sick."
Bella nodded and heard Mike volunteer to walk her to the nurse.
Bella could feel her energy drain slightly as she kept up the glamour of sickness. When she got outside she asked Mike to stop so she could lie down and gain some energy. She may be powerful, but she didn't have much experience performing spells and she could feel her magic depleted.
The nurse let her go home early, her little show worked better than she thought it would.
Arriving at her house, Bella contemplated whether or not to tell Charlie what had occurred at school today.
Eventually she decided to ask Charlie about Blood typing, but not tell him about Alice. She reasoned that she wanted to have all the facts before she worried him, but in the back of her mind, she knew that she just wanted to be close to Edward. If she told Charlie about Alice, he would know that Bella was becoming attached to Edward.
Bella started on dinner and her homework and by the time Charlie came home, both were finished.
Sitting at the dining table after dinner had been served, Bella wondered how to best broach the blood topic. "So" she finally started. "Today we were supposed to do blood typing, but I weaseled my way out of it."
"It's a good thing that you did." Charlie commented his eyes betraying his fear.
"Why, would my blood be weird or something?"
"I wouldn't know" Charlie answered. "I've never seen my blood."
Bella was confused. "What do you mean by that?"
"Look at this." Charlie grabbed his steak knife and made a motion to stab his hand. As the blade touched his skin, it shattered into a thousand pieces.
Bella stared dumbfounded at what had just occurred while Charlie went about fixing the knife with his magic. "So" Bella struggled with the words. "Our skin is impenetrable?"
"Yup, it would appear so."
"Then how come our bones can break?" Bella asked as she picked up her knife and slowly pressed it into her hand. Her skin didn't give at all, if anything the knife blade seemed to bend and then snap at the last second.
"It has to do with some evil mythical creature. At least that's what my grandmother told me. It could kill you if it penetrated your skin somehow. Broken bones don't kill you, but breaking your skin around these creatures could."
"I don't understand."
"Neither do I, it was a legend that my grandmother told me had been passed down from witch to witch, I don't know how it could kill you just that it could and that that's the reason why our skin is as hard as diamonds."
Completely confused, Bella went to bed and once again, dreamed of Edward.
