Disclaimer: I do not own the twilight characters.
A/N: I wanted to tell everyone that I had this written, but I was away on vacation for a week, with no way to post it. So, without further ado: my story.
A/N 2: I lied, more ado. My sister's been writing a fanfic about Stargate SG-1, Daniel and Vala fluff. If you're interested she's mandyem92. Just so you know, she writes really fast and posts without checking it over, so there are a few typos. It's decipherable, though.
Witchy Woman
The Inquisition
(A/N 3: Queue the Mel Brook's music! "The Inquisition, let's begin. The Inquisition, look out sin." Ok, ok, I'm sorry! No more A/N's)
Bella woke up early Tuesday morning. She was a jumble of emotions; excited, nervous, anxious. Feeling a little adventurous, Bella got ready magically. Trying on and changing the fit of her clothes until she was comfortable. She was ready within minutes and skipped down the stairs to wait for Edward to arrive. Quickly becoming impatient, Bella did some calming and grounding and performed the spells to mask her smell and her heartbeat.
Looking out the window a moment later, she saw Edward's silver Volvo sitting in her driveway. Suddenly she felt like she did before the calming and grounding, excited, nervous, and anxious. Trying to appear calm, Bella walked outside and saw that Edward was standing by her door, holding it open.
Bella laughed nervously, "I forgot about the super speed."
Edward just smiled a little and gestured for her to get in.
The second she got in the car, Edward was in the driver's seat. This time she was prepared for it, and only jumped a little.
Just when Bella thought the ride to school would be passed in an awkward silence Edward spoke up.
"That day you almost got hit by Tyler's van, did you use magic to fix your ankle?" Edward asked looking at her.
"First, can you at least pretend you're paying attention to the road? It's making me nervous. And, to answer your question, yes, I healed my ankle magically." Bella said trying to keep her voice steady.
Edward just laughed at her request and asked his next question.
"How did you find out we are vampires?"
"That's a long story."
Edward smirked, "Well apparently we both have plenty of time."
Bella sighed, "Charlie noticed that whenever he mentioned the Cullen's to Billy Black, he's a Quilleute, Billy always got really silent. So, I went to the beach and got him to tell me what he knows about you guys. After that, I looked through my Dad's books and my friend Irene's books, to find out more about vampires."
"What kind of powers do you have?"
"I can do spells and make potions. I can change and move things with my mind. My emotions affect my powers, if I'm angry, I have trouble controlling my magic, when I'm scared, I have a hard time using my magic. I can also levitate and read minds. I don't like to read people's minds." Bella added. "It's an invasion of privacy. I would expect the same from you. Though I get the feeling you can't read my mind." At Edward's look of frustration she knew she was right. "I suspected as much, I think that as a witch I have a powerful wall of protection around my mind."
They pulled into the parking lot at that moment. "I guess the inquisition will have to be postponed." Bella joked as they walked towards the school together.
When they got to Bella's first class, Edward just looked at her for a moment. He touched her cheek, like he had the night before. "Be safe. What you told me last night worries me." He sighed. "I don't like being away from you." Then he turned and walked to his first class.
"Me either." Bella whispered, she knew he would hear.
Sitting down at her first class, Bella was practically attacked by Jessica. "Oh my God!" She stopped there, apparently speechless. "Edward Cullen gave you a ride to school today!"
It wasn't a question, but Bella felt the need to answer, "Yeah."
"So, are you guys, like going out?"
"Umm, I'm not sure."
"Well, do you like him?"
"Yes."
"How much?"
Bella wasn't sure what to say, she didn't want to lie, but with her luck Edward would be listening. So she decided on an ambiguous answer, "too much."
Luckily for Bella, their teacher chose that minute to start the days lesson and Jessica didn't get an opportunity to finish her line of questioning.
The rest of the morning was just as busy and Bella was happy to note, as she saw Edward smiling at her from across the lunch room, that she wouldn't get a chance to finish her questioning that day.
Jessica must have noticed too, because she was rather disappointed when she said, "I suppose you won't be sitting with us at lunch today."
"Nope," Bella grinned as she walked over to meet Edward.
"How much is too much?" Edward asked with a smirk as Bella sat down.
Bella groaned. "That's not fair."
"It is completely fair; you could have eavesdropped on me."
"Yes, but I said I was respecting your privacy and I had hoped you would do the same."
"But, you knew I wouldn't. Just answer the question."
Bella sighed, if she ever wanted to have a relationship with Edward, now would be the best time to come clean. "I'll tell you, but …"
"But …" Edward prompted, leaning close to her.
"I'm afraid that … well, that I like you more than you like me." Bella blushed and looked down.
"Not possible." Edward said, completely serious.
It was now or never, Bella thought. Bella stared at the table as her words came out in a flood, "I like you more than it is healthy for one person to like another. My feelings for you are scary, not normal. I feel like I can't breathe without you here. And the thought of losing you, makes my heart ache. And the worst part is I'm afraid that my feelings for you or my powers will scare you away." Bella put her head down on the table and waited.
After a few minutes, though it felt like hours. Bella felt one of Edward's hands over hers, and the other on her chin, forcing her to look up. And she saw everything she felt reflected in his eyes. Every romantic, obsessive, scary thought in her head, in his as well. And she breathed a sigh of relief. For now, that was enough. For the smallest minute, everything seemed perfect. That is until …
"I want you to meet my family."
