He couldn't sleep. Visions of today swam through his head. The way Nick's hair fell and how his eyes were so warm and inviting. The way he accepted Jeff and his new life. No one had ever made Jeff feel this way before and it scared him. He wasn't supposed to love Nick, but Jeff couldn't help it. He was falling hard for the brunette. He loved Nick, it was true, but if things went his mothers way, Nick would be dead within the month. He couldn't let that happen. His mother wanted power and she had lost it when she turned. She could never touch magic again.
When he was young she would tell him stories about how one day, she would be a witch again. That one day a boy would show up , whose blood was pure and could change her back to her original form. With help of her which friends, they would take the boys blood and strip it of its magic. Jeff always thought it would be a warlock that she talked of, he was wrong of course. Something in Nick burned like the sun. Jeff was sure Nick was part of his world. Further time spent with him would bring up the truth.
He watched as Nick left the palace and walked to the village. Jeff ran downstairs and out of the castle when Nick entered Sebastian's home.
"Blaine?Kurt?" Nick was shocked that his friends were standing there before him.
"Nick!" Blaine yelled in joy then jumped into his best friends arms. Nick hugged the shorter boy tight and laughed at Blaine's antics. "I thought you were dead. Why didn't you call or go back? How are you ok? "
"No I'm perfectly alive. I have no service and well, I can't leave. None of us can."
"So we're stuck in ancient Rome?" Kurt looked close to a panic attack.
"No we're not in Rome. This is Oscura. It's ruled by vampires."
"Ok so I see you hit your head. " Blaine started looking over Nick.
"B I'm fine. Seriously. Jeff saved me, he's sort of the prince." Nick looked over at his Dalton friends. They started laughing until the door flung open and in walked a very pissed off Jeff.
He grabbed Nick. "Did that thing hurt you or worse."
"Thing?"
"Sebastian Smythe. The owner of the nunnery you walked into."
"No I'm fine. I thought it was a party. So not one." Jeff's expression softened into his normal self.
"Good."
"Blaine I wanna go home!" Kurt shrieked.
Jeff's eyes traveled to the newcomers. Kurt was staring wide eyed at the mud on his pants. He was always a fashion freak.
"I can bring you some clothes." Jeff said trying to be nice but his smile fell when Kurt screamed.
"I can't wear that!" he yelled and pointed to Jeff's outfit.
"Kurt stop, he's being nice. You could at least be grateful." Nick was pissed. He didn't like Jeff being upset and right now the blonde looked close to tears. Blaine stared at Nick then looked at Jeff then back at Nick.
"Sorry about my boyfriend, he's used to designer clothing. If it's no problem we would appreciate the clothing."Blaine smiled at Jeff before covering Kurt's mouth."So Nick, we should leave tomorrow so we can relax and stuff befor we go back home."
"Blaine I'm not going home and you can't either. It's like a rule here. No one can leave once here. I'm sorry. "
"We can't leave! But my dad and Carole and Finn. I need to go home! My dad has heart problems and he already lost my mom. Can't you just let us leave." he looked at Jeff.
"I am not in power. My father is and his law is what I follow. I am sorry."
"Some one give me a stake. You can't keep us here it's illegal!" Kurt was furious. He had rockclimbed and walked way too many miles to find Nick. They found him and now they can't leave!
"KURT! What the fuck. A stake really. That's a stereotype and you should know better than to listen to them." Nick was pissed. His temper running low.
"My mom. She's going to be so heartbroken. Kurt we'll find a way if we have to start a riot."
"Guys stop! Jeffs in the room."
"Nick don't you care that you can never go home!" Kurt yelled.
"You know I have nothing left there. My parents kicked me out because I came out to them. They don't care about me. My dad beat the crap out of me. I don't have a home."
"Dalton."
"Is just the prep school my dad sent me to so he didn't have to deal with his 'fag'."
Krut kept pushing."Nick you belong with us out there. Not locked up like an animal. I know you and your temper is only short lived."
"Kurt not once have I lashed out since I got here. It's peaceful. You guys go. Go home to your perfect families, your perfect love, your perfect everything. I'm not going to stay invisible. I'm staying here. This is my new life. Jeff lets go home."
Jeff nodded then turned to leave. Nick following. "I'll see you guys tomorrow."
"Wait where do you...uh...live?"
"In the castle with Jeff. If you need me just go ask a guard for me or Puck. Puck will know where and who I am. " Nick smiled at Blaine's surprised look.
"You're actually ok with living as a slave?"
"Kurt I'm not a slave. Jeff saved me. I owe him my life. Plus I've never felt this way before. I feel free. "
"We saw a painting in a cave. It looked like you and you were surrounded by red. Nick I think they plan on killing you."
"Kurt just stop. I'm happy for once and I might actually be falling for Jeff. No one back home even looks at me. I didn't exist at Dalton. But here, I feel like I'm home. It's hard to explain but I belong here. I'll see you later. " Nick left and almost bumped into Jeff. "Hey."
"Hello. Your friends are...different."
"Yeah, Kurt's used to fashion and Dalton. He's not the type to be out in the dirt and sweating. I'm sorry about him, it's nothing personal. "
Jeff only nodded. He didn't look at Nick. The shrieking human had figured out his mothers plans. "We should be getting back to the palace. "
"Ok. So, why were you so mad that I was at Sebastian's?"
"Nick he is a, I don't know how to explain it."
"He's a whore. Or prostitute."
"What is a prostitute?"
"Someone who gets paid for fucking."
"Well yes that would be Sebastian. He is a horrid person and you, your not. He would have tainted your soul with one touch. "
"He is hot though."
"His temperature has nothing to do with his actions." Jeff looked at Nick with a confused look.
Nick laughed. "Hot means, oh god."Nick couldn't stop laughing. "It means he's very attractive."
"Hmm, humans have strange words."
The brunette chuckled. "Yes we do. Wait till I teach you texting. You think we're weird now, just wait."
Jeff laughed. A smile planted itself on his lips and it was not leaving anytime soon.
Thunder clapped and soon it was pouring down upon the teens. Jeff looked up at the sky. It hadn't rained in some time. His attention was brought back to the brunette, when Nick started dancing around carefree.
"Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know you're unlike any other?
You'll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
I don't wanna ever love another
You'll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
And bring on the thunder"
Nick sang at the top of his lungs. He hadn't had this much fun since he was a child. "Join me Jeffy!" Nick grabbed Jeff's hand and pulled him close. "Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors. I don't wanna ever love another." Nick sang into the blondes ear. Jeff looked into Nicks brown eyes. Like magnets, they leaned in towards each other. Their lips brushed.
"Jeffrey!" Jeff jumped away from Nick.
"Mother?"
